pixelatedindex··on FTC is investigating OpenAI, Anthropic and other AI companies over product risks
The “anti” cancels each other out. So we are just left with “trust (me, bro)”
pixelatedindex··on FTC is investigating OpenAI, Anthropic and other AI companies over product risks
We are ruling by imagination now?

> you could say that congress has delegated "judicial and legislative" powers to the executive, whose will is embodied in a democratically elected president.

Bullshit. No, you cannot say that. “The non-delegation doctrine is a constitutional principle that Congress cannot delegate its legislative powers to another branch of government or to private entities.”

You get two downvotes for lies, one for each post.

pixelatedindex··on FTC is investigating OpenAI, Anthropic and other AI companies over product risks
Teapot Dome had an investigative Congress who actually did their job. Plus Fall went to prison. Neither of this is going to happen today.

> you just frame your ethics that anything done in service to the bottom line is inherently good

I thought that was the whole point of that Dodge vs Ford case which enshrined shareholder supremacy? I’m not saying that’s the best way or poor way to run a business, but the blanket application of this precedent seems sketch to me. But that means we need an admin that does trust busting too, so good luck with all that.

pixelatedindex··on Dots: Always-on agents
> So everyone is trying to give the aunts, cousins, neighbor's dads some of the agent capabilities

Why do they want it? What are some use cases that make sense?

> From what I can tell, you are arguing that gun laws is reasonable.

You aren’t going to repeal the second amendment, so reasonable or not it’s a fact that everyone has to contend with. Do we all want guns? No. Do we all want AI? Also no.

> What we want is to ban bad, regardless of how it is achieved

No, we don’t want to ban bad. Banning doesn’t really work - the effort to reward ratio isn’t great. We want to regulate bad and see if we can minimize the damage it can do.

These vibecoded UIs are really getting tiresome now. You’d imagine with all this AI, there would be some unique pages but ironically it’s even more cookie cutter than bootstrap pages.
pixelatedindex··on ASML says it sold 'absolutely nothing' in Europe in 2026
They kinda did that to themselves, but it's slowly changing. My partner's iPhone 16 is made in India. They really do lack waste management infrastructure though, and it's pretty crucial for this type of manufacturing. They should also borrow the regional concentration of industries that China has done, it really does make things more efficient.
pixelatedindex··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
Can’t you exclude suppliers who use Anthropic?
pixelatedindex··on I'm the mom in that viral Giants clip. Let me tell you about my husband
> If it was the other way around they would be saying what a hero he is lol.

I’m not so sure, I’m convinced people would not bat an eye. Or at least I don’t expect any positive compliments, only neutral or negative.

pixelatedindex··on I'm the mom in that viral Giants clip. Let me tell you about my husband
> I wasn't there but like were they really trying to be mean spirited with it?

Flip genders and most likely people say things like this. Somehow men are just expected to deal with this but if it’s directed at a woman it’s all bad.

> The land value tax can’t be dodged by leaving nor can it be passed on to renters

Of course you can. You just charge more. Yeah the market dynamics can put a cap on it but the Bay Area mints millionaires like there’s no tomorrow. They can pay.

pixelatedindex··on LG says we're fake news [video]
This stance is so anti-consumer it's laughable. Are you seriously implying LG doesn't turn a decent profit with their massive empire? There's an issue with capitalism of chasing infinite growth rather than stability, and this is one of the consequences of chasing such growth.
pixelatedindex··on Apple wants to train AI on your private personal data
Explicitly choosing to help improve something by providing your data seems like an opt-in but what do I know these days
pixelatedindex··on List of references on Sony websites to players "owning" their digital games
I thought we were talking about digital copies.
pixelatedindex··on List of references on Sony websites to players "owning" their digital games
I’m not denying that? What is the argument here?
pixelatedindex··on List of references on Sony websites to players "owning" their digital games
> We do not own the same copy of that book

Why not? If you hash the book, it’ll match. It’s word for word the same book (editions not withstanding). It’s not the same if you tie in account permissions, of course. Or is this on a philosophical level?

Edit: the downvotes make no sense, aren’t we talking about digital copies here?

pixelatedindex··on Which tools do Claude, Codex and Cursor choose? We measured 17k runs to find out
I really don’t understand why this is being downvoted? Did I say something wrong / controversial? Or is it because I’m not using my resources the “optimal” way? Is it because my models aren’t open weight? I was only trying to contribute my experience :(
pixelatedindex··on Which tools do Claude, Codex and Cursor choose? We measured 17k runs to find out
I for one am running what I can on my aging 1080Ti(!!), namely a Qwen2.5 14B (4-bit quantized). It’s not great, and the only other card I have is a 3070Ti but I need that for gaming. :(

What a terrible card that 3070Ti is. Mad regrets buying it because I wanted to save $400 compared to a 3080Ti.

pixelatedindex··on How accurate have Ed Zitron's AI skeptic predictions been?
> If Google were to die they would die the way Yahoo did

This might be true 20 years ago where Google had one true product, Search. Since then, they have diversified and got their fingers a million pies.

I don’t think you can get true competition with the way MS,GOOG,AMZ have grown. You’ll get a duopoly, or maybe a triopoly.

pixelatedindex··on Delulu Is the Solulu
You’re overly focusing on the IQ, and completely hand waving the structural advantages. You do not understand.
pixelatedindex··on Delulu Is the Solulu
> This dude's car breaks down and he gives up on university?

It seems like you’re overly harsh on this dude. Being wealthy and well connected lets you circumvent the kind of stuff Chris had to go through. Bill didn’t even need to file for any kind of aid - he could focus on the one thing. That is a luxury most people don’t have. I think if Bill was born to a poorer family and had to work part time jobs to keep the lights on, things would be very different.

pixelatedindex··on Borges Labyrinth in Venice reopens to the public
It even almost reads like “Borges”, at least on the top. The design is remarkable.

No wonder Google was all:

> L'utilisation de la violence ou de menaces armées n'est pas une solution.

When I tried to search for what that meant. Thanks, kind stranger! My curiosity is sated.

PS: What Google said translates to “The use of violence or armed threats is not a solution.”
