pineapple_guy··on Show HN: Ts-Chan – Go-Like Concurrency Primitives for TypeScript/JavaScript
Regarding the first example in the readme; where is the result variable declared?
pineapple_guy··on LinkedIn is laying off nearly 700 employees
That’s amazing. I’ve never heard such praise for LinkedIn unless it was a sponsored comment.
pineapple_guy··on Is Software Engineering Real Engineering?
The user is the equivalent force of Mother Nature in software engineering. You just can’t predict what they will try next!
pineapple_guy··on X.org Hit by New Security Vulnerabilities – Two Date Back to 1988 with X11R2
TIL Fedora is a new-broom distro. Whatever that means.
pineapple_guy··on Epic Games is laying off 16% of its staff
Possibly, but why assume that developers are passing on that increased productivity without expecting a relative pay increase?
pineapple_guy··on Japanese scientists working on creating human eggs and sperm in the lab
And what if we are already the product of this process from a long forgotten empire?
pineapple_guy··on Companies Stall Climate Action Despite Earlier Promises
How did you arrive at that conclusion?
pineapple_guy··on Nvidia's 900 tons of GPU muscle bulks up server market, slims down wallets
And they are simply unable to reliably release Linux drivers
pineapple_guy··on Svelte 5 is going to be radical
If anything needs to be radically improved with svelte it’s bundle size and IDE tooling
pineapple_guy··on Friendly Captcha – GDPR-Compliant Bot Protection
It’s not a captcha
pineapple_guy··on Launch HN: GitStart (YC S19) – Remote junior devs working on production PRs
The junior level is often magnified due to lack of English proficiency.

$360 for eight people in San Francisco? I would be a sucker to believe that.
pineapple_guy··on Time to bring back asylums?
We have to do something with our politicians
pineapple_guy··on Llama 2
Always interesting to see a huge company with access to top talent release a site with key features such as: - a header that takes up a third of the screen on mobile - a hamburger menu that unintentionally navigates you to the top of the page upon opening and closing
pineapple_guy··on Unihertz Jelly 2E – smartphone with 3“ screen
Web devs mark this day of sadness
pineapple_guy··on Top suspect in 2015 Ashley Madison hack committed suicide in 2014
Is it just me or does that headline read as he was murdered by a highly skilled assassin who was hired by a high net-worth ‘victim’ of the hack.
pineapple_guy··on Ask HN: Could you please brutally review my product website?
CTA is below the fold on mobile. Company name appears twice in large font on mobile. Hamburger menu animation time is too slow.
pineapple_guy··on Rings.social – Reddit-API compatible and Open Source content-voting platform
Yes, and sorry if it’s harsh. It just appears to be a generic blogging clone.

The page I land on needs to make it immediately clear why the site is useful. No explanations or hand waving.

pineapple_guy··on Rings.social – Reddit-API compatible and Open Source content-voting platform
Search with no results, login? And explore with four links.. all designed poorly. Not going to cut it.
pineapple_guy··on Twitter Is DDOSing Itself
On a side note, I must say that Mastadon having a side bar on mobile is a very poor design choice.
pineapple_guy··on TabDB: Using browser tabs as a database like only a maniac would
Does anyone know if this is web scale?
pineapple_guy··on Tell HN: Considering legal action against Stripe
Are there any specific white label solutions that you would recommend?
pineapple_guy··on Tell HN: Reddit Has Disabled i.reddit.com
Funny you say this as their app is also pretty bad. Their image slider is one of the most poorly made features I’ve ever seen in an app - with it never being clear what a left swipe, a double tap, or a right swipe will do.
pineapple_guy··on Phoenix 1.7.0
Ships with tailwind? We’re jumping the shark with that
pineapple_guy··on Show HN: I trained an AI model on 120M+ songs from iTunes
This is cool. I’m curious how you managed to access all the music data from apple?
