OTOH Opera Mini is simply a wonderful app, and its an app I see installed by users themselves on smart phones everywhere. (Too bad Apple rejected Opera Mini.)
Now its all about running Linux on beefy servers, obscure embedded devices, cell phones, clusters, and well, you name it.
Who knows what technology we'll have 10 years down the road, but lets hope that the "YEAH!! I GOT LINUX TO WORK ON IT!!!!!" feeling never goes away :)
(While the Americans weren't listening to Deming, Harvard Biz Profs even went as far as to predict that Deming/Japan's love for quality would not be sustainable and its competitive advantage would erode. It turns out they were right, the Koreans are the example of this.)
Isn't blackberry the #1 selling smartphone anyways ? (I see a lot more of them in NYC than I do see Iphones ...)
Good luck to you!
A) Slicehost isn't an overnite operation. Not saying I don't wish Prgmr all the luck in the world, but still ...
B) vCPUs don't matter as much as the guest/host contention ratio does. If I gave you 4 VCPU's and stuck you on a host with 128 other VMs .... you performance is going to suck no matter what. The fewer the number of guests, the better the performance of the guests.
Now only if Slicehost would stop sending me email I've got credit with them even if I have used 'em for over a year ...

I will warn you, and I'm not sure if this issue exists for other *WRT firmwares, but PPTP VPN and OSX is not ideal on DD-WRT: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/PPTP_Server_Configurati...
OpenVPN is the way to go, but not built in like PPTP is, well, everywhere ...
Big bank backend apps are written to sleep as much as possible, and then do everything all at once in order to save on CPU costs.
1 - Every central bank will trade its own currency.
2 - Every central bank will trade in USD.
(Even if they hate the USD with a blinding passion.)
The USD is the global standard not because of some diabolical scheme by the US, but rather because it is liquid beyond liquid. EVERYONE IS WILLING TO TRADE IT!!
Can the same be said about the Mexican Peso ? Nope, even some of its neighboring central banks are not willing to trade it.
This article tells us nothing we did not know, provides no meaningful insight, and then tells us in no-way-shape-or-form exactly hhhoooowwww Apple is bettering its brand.
To the Apple lovers: Notice how the tens of millions of corporate desktops are sticking to Windows XP. They aren't switching to Apple, and couldn't due to a lack of a proper Exchange client, nor advanced Active Directory features ...
I guess its too late for HN :^(
Seriously, when two spouses bicker, is it ever news worthy ??
While its true that Facebook users always bitch and moan about changes. This time they're bitchin' and moanin' annnddd using a very key word: confusing.
I fail to see why A) Web developers need to put down their users constantly, instead of working with them. B) Why web developers think that Twitter can do no wrong.
The elitist holier-than-thou web developer herd mentality is mind-boggling.
