pfista··on Skeet – Hosted MCP Tools for Coding
MCP is quite complicated, so we decided to make it easy with native auth and hosted MCP connections and a single configuration step. Works with any client that supports MCP (like Cursor, Claude, Zed, ChatGPT, etc)

Let us know what you think!

pfista··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
Working on a new tool to automate busy work and save time for founders, engineers, support reps, and marketers.

Most ai apps are focused on reading and synthesizing data, but none are great at “write” actions across apps.

We’re focused on making the simplest and easiest way to use ai to control your apps and get things done

pfista··on Show HN: GitMCP is an automatic MCP server for every GitHub repo
Do you auto-generate specific MCP tools for the repo? Curious what the queries you would use with an AI agent to get a response back.

I'm building my own hosted MCP solution (https://skeet.build) and have been deliberately choosing which tools to expose depending on the use case- since there are tool limits due to the context window for apps like Cursor.

pfista··on Show HN: Check Supply – Send Checks in the Mail
> Why does it need to be connected to your bank at all? It just needs the account, routing, and check numbers.

To prevent fraud

pfista··on Show HN: Check Supply – Send Checks in the Mail
Varo is one. But even the ones that do support it like "Chime" have online comments like this:

"Chime is great for everything else, but their check features are absolute trash and will cause you frustration. Just don't do it and find another option."

> Do you restrict writing checks that are for an amount greater than the current account balance? Lastly, I’m wondering how you handle deliberate check fraud. Victims will try to sue all associated parties. How does your liability work in those cases?

That is one of our fraud signals. We have systems in place to review payment amounts, address, frequency, etc that can cause additional KYC checks to be preformed via Plaid before we'll send the check.

Hah!

Yes, it's pretty incredible actually

pfista··on Show HN: Check Supply – Send Checks in the Mail
Thanks, appreciate the comment!

> Cash App us a lump of cash and we’ll send it somewhere by check

Funny thing about sending checks is it's just an account and routing number in a special font on a piece of paper. We don't touch any customer funds.

> Am I missing something that differentiates what you do from what they do?

We have a simpler UI with a focus just on sending the check, so having your contacts prefilled make it quick and easy. But, if your bank already supports this then probably not for you!

If we grow the app enough, we'll add more features like scheduled / recurring payments and tracking for delivery and when the check is deposited.

Was a great company. Closest thing to it today IMO is Mercury

Believe it or not I still have the Tanner Goods leather wallet that they gave as a gift for referring people to their app.

Best wallet ever

pfista··on Show HN: Check Supply – Send Checks in the Mail
I think having a checkbook used to be a basic part of being a functional adult, but there's a whole new generation of people that have never sent a check before.

There are still a lot of businesses and government agencies that require payments to be sent by check.

It's paying for convenience. Name any "basic adulting" task and I'll show you a service that can do it for you. House cleaning, taxes, groceries, laundry, childcare, etc.

pfista··on Show HN: Check Supply – Send Checks in the Mail
Yes most of the major banks do, but many neo banks don't. Upside is convenience and speed for folks that don't have a bank with billpay.
pfista··on Show HN: Check Supply – Send Checks in the Mail
Yes, many banks do offer this. But some neobanks don't. We're going after a niche market here :)
pfista··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2024 – Show and tell
Nope. Lob doesn’t have instant bank verification which was a deal breaker for us.

In fact there are several providers that offer checks via api but none of them worked for us, so we rolled our own :)

pfista··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2024 – Show and tell
Not really. We don’t touch customer money- we just print and mail checks on their behalf.

We do require bank verification via Plaid, which proves the user has a valid username and login to their bank.

We perform further KYC checks for suspicious payments.

pfista··on Tesla is launching their developer APIs
Same- instant rejection. I wonder if they are trying to make test calls to the redirect uris / authorized origin?
pfista··on Tesla is launching their developer APIs
Every app I try to submit gets auto-rejected with no reason why. Has anyone else been able to get approval for their app?
pfista··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Reddit
> I do find myself wondering what a system that connected my rss feed reader with global comments about webpages might look like.

To some extent, this is what Artifact.news is doing though it's mostly mainstream news right now.

They have a neat feature that aggregates comments across different articles covering the same topic.

pfista··on Launch HN: Clearspace (YC W23) – Cut back on screen time
Instead of brightness, you could make the screen go black and white. I already do this to reduce my screen time. You can set screen colors in accessibility, and scrolling instagram is much more boring when it's in B&W.
pfista··on WebKit Features in Safari 16.4
The API also has support for things like custom vibrations, urgency, icons, and action URLs. But- these are minimally supported by Safari Desktop and Safari Mobile today.

I hope Safari iOS adds support for actions and shortcut workflows when clicking a notification.

pfista··on WebKit Features in Safari 16.4
Sorry I missed this. Yes there is a free trial- right now you get 100 notifications to test while building your integration out. Also a promo on producthunt today for 20% off.
pfista··on WebKit Features in Safari 16.4
Apple releasing support for web push was a big reason I decided to build an API for sending push notifications to PWAs.

Relatively easy to work with, though I hope their OS integration will add support for more native iOS notification features like actions.

If you wanna try out native push notifications it's pretty fast to try out: https://alerty.dev

pfista··on Show HN: Alerty.dev – Native Push Notification API for iOS Home Screen Web Apps
Apple as usual was late to the game supporting Web [Push APIs](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Push_API), but I'm glad the day is finally here.

It's been supported on most other browsers and devices for a while now.

pfista··on Show HN: Coding interviews stress me out, so I built a takehome test tool
Some of my best coding interviews have been async take home projects. Plaid actually had a time-limited (2 hr) take home interview where I had access to a github repo with instructions.

Seems like there is a lot of promise here, as Fairlane could help companies like Plaid automate this takehome process in a scalable way for candidates.

That said, I only see this working for very early screens. Do you have plans to support later stages of the interview process?

pfista··on Linear – A fast issue tracker
I've also thought about how many updates have been coming through lately. I love the velocity, but not the notification. Maybe there is a less obtrusive way of updating regularly?
