When I installed my DIY backlight solution (ala AmbiLight) to my TV I also had a red shift for some of my LEDs. But that was mainly due to the fact that not enough voltage reached the later LEDs on the strip to power green/blue because they need higher voltage than red.
Stunning images. The impact of climate change in some of these pictures hit harder for me than the regular reports on them. Especially images like the one with kangaroo during the bush fires or the cheetahs getting washed away by the flooding in Kenya.
We have a 120qm2 apartment, 2 cats, 1 dog and a child. We couldn‘t live without our Roborock S7. It runs everyday and sometimes even more. No big issues, vacuums, mops, would buy it again in a heartbeat.
>> The difference between us and the animals is that they lack enough intelligence to produce anything meaningful(i.e technology, innovation etc) during their lifespan thus the reason why their scope in life is to become good food for us.
Same logic can be applied to children until a certain age, disabled, sick, old and/or mentally handicapped people. Kettle is easy to take advantage of, it's convenient and almost everything they "produce" can be sold (milk, meat, skin). Not showing enough compassion for sentient beings while having the ability and options to not have them as "a tasty meal" makes you a bad person in that regard. You can be social worker, a teacher, doctor or overall caring person, and have other great character traits, because nothing has to be black and white. Having superior intelligence and using that as an argument to justify exploitation of other living beings is a very sad way to look at all of this in my eyes.
I know, every Game Boy Advance (variant, except for the micro) was able to play GB/GBC games. Also for backlight: only the SP AGS-101 and the GB Micro were backlit.
Saw it yesterday and as someone already mentioned in the comments, it's crazy to think the Game Boy Advance only lasted 3yrs before it got replaced with the Nintendo DS. This demo blows my mind, and even after watching the video on it I still can't fathom it.
TV+ is doing good on its own. CODA, Severance and Ted Lasso are already bringing attention to the platform. Netflix would just muddy Apples image as a high quality brand.
I would be sooo excited if I were you. I don't know if you're the type of person who likes to break stuff and figure out inner workings of programs. But the moment I fell in love with assembler was, when I was able to DISassemble a program and understand it bit by bit. Read process memory from another process, inject and modify code. IDK to me it was the first moment I felt 'in control' :)
Ninja just recently [0] talked about why he thinks Mixer failed and it was not due to its potential.
He specifically mentioned stuff like: needing a hotmail account to register, when you register you had some random name assigned to you and had to go into your profile to change it afterwards, etc. Small stuff basically, but it added up and Microsofts corporate structure prohibited quick adjustments.
I seriously don't get the hatred Webpack receives. Calling it legacy when it introduced stuff like module federation is unfair to say the least. Just because a lot of people use CRA or some "zero config" bundler, or because esbuild etc are picking up momentum, doesn't mean it's bad. The documentation is actually really good IMO.
I've been accused of shilling a product I genuinely enjoyed, because of the english I used. :) I think it seemed too exaggerated. But I'm no native, so what do I know. In the end who cares about upvotes.
I get your point of view, but for a lot of people it's not. Friends leave for family, life comes to a hold in a lot of countries (shops closed etc.) and the whole vibe created around this day screams togetherness (family, friends, and so on). Some people don't need it. But there can be people that feel left out, although they like to be left alone, because everyone suddenly adjusts to that time and they don't.
What I'm trying to say, why do we not just take posts like these and accept that it can do something positive for people. Nothing more nothing less. This bit by Ricky Gervais perfectly sums your post up for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3dxMGzt5mU
The difference is VISA doesn't get a dime from you. Also if you use something like SWIFT and want to transfer money on the weekend you are stuck till Monday. It's also not unusual that oversea transfers take days to complete. Volatility for Bitcoin over 10 minutes is negligible.
So it's a) faster for most people, b) you don't pay big corporations for the transfer itself, c) it works 24/7, d) doesn't track "well" as of now. Those reasons are enough for some people to prefer it over traditional remittance.
The Bene Gesserit was something I couldn't quite get a grip on, the gravitas house Atreides' arrival seemed to have, when they came to Arrakis, the different houses and their relationships... I had a lot of moments where felt I was missing context, because the scenes presented themself as "important" but I couldn't figure it out in that moment. Sometimes later in the movie some context was given, but during those scenes I felt "lost". I will certainly give it rewatch, maybe even read the books now.
As someone who loves Denis Villeneuve I did all that, although I felt "left behind" throughout the movie, because I didn't read the books. Visually amazing, but I was sad I couldn't appreciate it the way it could have been.
Really depends. If you are competitive chasing numbers can be motivation. And ofc it‘s easier if you enjoy what you‘re doing, but you also have to be able to just pull through at times. Motivation has to turn into disciplin.
IMO establishing physical exercise as a part of your life should be the goal. It’s as essential as brushing your teeth. And a big problem I see is people are always presented with short term solutions. Do this workout for 6 weeks and get a Men’s Health cover body. Yet the reality is you have to eat healthy, consistently work out and keep working out to stay in shape and healthy.
As an active learner of the Turkish language this tool is really held back by using Netflix' own subtitles. First of all if you go to their website and u look for Turkish content, it only lists shows created for the Turkish market, yet there's so much more content available with Turkish dubs and subs like Ninjago, Pokemon, Paw Patrol that likely have easier vocabulary, cause it's target at kids. And yet again the subs sometimes hardly match the dubs, which therefore doesn't help with hearing comprehension at all. If anyone can suggest good alternatives to practice hearing comprehension at different levels (even payed ones) I would really appreciate it.
I don't even get how his salary is an argument here, when babel is one of most critical parts in almost all web applications. His knowledge and skillset is way above any average "lead dev" and he's still doing "grunt" work. Sorry, but this is a very reasonable salary.
Strange...just installed it on my iPad. Don‘t know why I didn‘t find it earlier. :) It‘s also a total surprise to me that you saw my post, I still consider HN niche among my frontend dev peers. Anyway so far everything, the app, the website and ofc the courses themself have been a joy to learn with. And again great work and best wishes to the whole team!
Hey man, I really like the mobile app but I also bought an iPad specifically for learning, cause the mobile screen is just to small for me to practice comfortably. Is there an iPad app in the works? Best regards to your whole team. You do an amazing job!
