Had no clue the Aussie slang meaning. Agree the naming seems not particulary well aligned with the product. It sounds like a kids game to me. Im expecting it have sole dot bouncing around asking me what we want to do next.

I’m all in on OpenAI supported by Gemini and local models as my go to AI providers. So, I would at least try out Dots (with some dummy account for a mundane task and take it from there).

Unfortunately, it’s not available in the Europe (yet):

> Dots are rolling out today in ChatGPT to Pro users in markets excluding the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the UK

I’m wondering what’s going on here. I suspect it’s a privacy thing. Not sure though.

Either way it sucks to be boxed out of trying out new features, especially when you’re a paying subscriber.

perganomoly··on What About Rails?
Leas surprise is one good way of putting it. Intuitiv, dead simple, most familiar, and idiot proof are others.

I still Don‘t Make Me Think is the best guide for developing interfaces for non technical user, which is still the vast majority of software.

Sometimes listening to technical people talk about software leave me feeling like the people who are meant to build the stuff are frequently the most out of touch with the needs of the users / customers.

Same for business but for different reason and in different ways.

That’s why there is a still a place for good UX designers and product managers to at least try and bring the gap, assuming they’re actually competent, which is hardly a sure thing.

You mean “Open to Work”? If yes, did you turn on the green ring around your profile pic?

Seriously, it’s unbelievable. Shows a serious lack of either understanding or empathy for how people use their product.

You’re right. Just checked LM Studio. It’s actually 3.8 27B. Got it confused with the 30B coder model that I’m playing with, too.

Because I care about products, their communities, and how company’s treat customers.

I was quite annoyed with Claude earlier this year when I had to maintain duplicate files or rely on symlinks.

Seemed like a waste of time simply because Anthropic didn’t want to take the “L” and accept that AGENTS.md was the new standard.

IMO, this kind of product decision making is why so many products either suck, or they’re are good but not great … and users have zero loyalty.

I find it super annoying this building lock in instead of loyalty approach to product seems to be standard practice these days.

The fact that it took this long to add such a basic feature is a disgrace. I’m not even remotely satisfied. Bailed on Claude ages ago. Rolling Codex, Gemini, and Qwen3.8 30B. The only way I’m going back to Anthropic is if they drop and Culture Series mind.
