pepa65··on Show HN: Oak – Git alternative designed for agents
Without comma's it might require a re-parse.
pepa65··on Ask for no, don't ask for yes (2022)
Currently, what are the countries that are most primarily focused on the welfare of their people? Those I would consider good countries.
pepa65··on Macaroni – a single HTML file messenger
Would be nice if you could make a version people can run in their browser..!
pepa65··on Macaroni – a single HTML file messenger
This is an example of a single html-file that I serve: https://basketball.4e4.in It weighs in at around 30 KB including a favicon, and it's quite functional.
pepa65··on Zig by Example
In that case, definitely learn Rust, it will expand your thinking about programming and be useful. Zig would just be too similar to C.
pepa65··on Show HN: FFmpeg WebCLI – Full FFmpeg in Browser, Offline PWA, No Uploads(WASM)
Note that this is the webpage: https://tejaswigowda.com/ffmpeg-webCLI

Works really well. It does say "100% local. Data never leaves your browser." but indeed, a icon that does not a cloud-upload would be clearer.

pepa65··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
What has not been talked about here yet, and which isn't directly about AI, is this: "The benchmarks are neutral-to-faster, and the binary shrank by a few megabytes"

This says more about Zig versus Rust, and I was surprised by it, that a "direct translation" of this kind would give a somewhat faster and smaller binary.

pepa65··on Codex just found a "workaround" of not having sudo on my PC
He meant `command which`
pepa65··on Blorp Language
An exclamation mark instead for impure would solve that.
pepa65··on Freelang – a Libc-free, direct sys/kernel call language with weird concurrency
That drastically reduces my level of interest (in spite of the write-up sounding very intriguing).
pepa65··on Freelang – a Libc-free, direct sys/kernel call language with weird concurrency
But then the call makes more sense: `describe {role: "admin", name: "alice"};`
pepa65··on Kraftwerk's radical 1976 track
What do you mean by "nuclear fleets"??
pepa65··on Dirty Frag: Universal Linux LPE
But if dirtyfrag is mitigated, copyfail is still active...
pepa65··on Dirty Frag: Universal Linux LPE
It seems that this is allowed as part of a dependency chain...
pepa65··on Amateur armed with ChatGPT solves an Erdős problem
He does say that LLMs are just a part of the models used these days.
pepa65··on Amateur armed with ChatGPT solves an Erdős problem
That "it" is a huge variety and range of things...
pepa65··on Swiss authorities want to reduce dependency on Microsoft
You might be under the delusion that Swiss government & military is not corrupt?
pepa65··on We rewrote JSONata with AI in a day, saved $500k/year
Golang is a bit more basic and explicit.
pepa65··on We rewrote JSONata with AI in a day, saved $500k/year
I've been refactoring stuff with anonymous ChatGPT usage..!
pepa65··on Turns out your coffee addiction may be doing your brain a favor
And "However, the two variables would be correlated if the causal arrow were reversed" is missing "also", almost suggesting that the article gets it wrong and the two variables are not correlated because of the placement of the causal arrow...
pepa65··on The first airplane fatality
Next up: airbags..!
pepa65··on Show HN: Better Hub – A better GitHub experience
What is PAT?
pepa65··on Wero – Digital payment wallet, made in Europe
I am sure they have no direct transfer because of the credit card lobby... Just trying to keep screwing their customers as usual.
pepa65··on Robert Duvall has died
I was going to say this, love The Apostle, very few people have seen it.
pepa65··on Internet voting is insecure and should not be used in public elections
Bingo! I was wondering where the sane voices were on this topic.
pepa65··on Internet voting is insecure and should not be used in public elections
My take: this is a paid-for hit piece to discredit a way of voting that makes total sense and is not all that hard to secure and make verifiable.
pepa65··on A battle over Canada’s mystery brain disease
If it is glyphosate related, it should be way more widespread...
pepa65··on Nova Launcher added Facebook and Google Ads tracking
I tried with Round Sync to add a button for a certain task to my home screen, and it doesn't work... That is very sad, it used to work on Nova.
pepa65··on Canada slashes 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs to 6%
I think it's not majorly the DoD's push though (they aren't all that powerful, they are grifters), there are stronger geo-financial interests behind this.
pepa65··on Germany's Merz admits nuclear exit was strategic mistake
Using cheap Russian gas made everything cheap, what caused the big crash was getting cut off from it.
