peanut_worm··on Imagen Video: high definition video generation with diffusion models
I have noticed a lot of google (and apple) web pages for new products use this neat parallax effect for scrolling, does anyone know how they do that?
peanut_worm··on Plant Machete
> plant machete has a control system that reads and utilizes the electrical noises found in a live philodendron

I didn’t assume it says it first thing in the article

peanut_worm··on I am fine without a smartwatch
Smartwatches definitely seem like they are target more towards health conscious people than watch enthusiasts
peanut_worm··on Plant Machete
wouldnt you get similar results from any source of noise?
peanut_worm··on Fandom Acquires GameSpot, Giant Bomb, GameFAQs, TV Guide and Metacritic
Wow, so all of those things are irrevocably ruined like Wikia was. I hope someone archived gameFAQs I am sure the text guides will be the first thing to go.
peanut_worm··on Show HN: I finished v5 of a JVM framework I've spent spent half a decade making
Yeah that was what I meant but everyone else seems to be commenting except the person I was replying to lol. I am not attacking databases I am just wondering what they used it for on a wedding website.
peanut_worm··on Show HN: I finished v5 of a JVM framework I've spent spent half a decade making
just wondering, what did you use SQLite for on a wedding website?
peanut_worm··on The PS5 Has Been Jailbroken
And PS7 will be fought with sticks and stones
peanut_worm··on LSD-like molecules counter depession without the trip
What is a “cognitive hallucination”? LSD can absolutely change your thought patterns
peanut_worm··on LSD-like molecules counter depession without the trip
Not really a fair comparison. How can you compare weight gain to a mental illness?
peanut_worm··on Stadia died because no one trusts Google
Google has really fallen far since Pichai took over.
peanut_worm··on Ten Years of TypeScript
TypeScript has always worried me a little because of MicroSofts old “EEE” policy but damn its just so nice to use. Building a complex JavaScript project without it feels wrong now.
peanut_worm··on “58 bytes of CSS to look great nearly everywhere” mkws theme
youd be better off using default browser styling than this
peanut_worm··on Microsoft bakes a VPN into Edge and turns it on
Doesn’t that mean that all my connections are routed MS servers? How is MS more trustworthy than my ISP
peanut_worm··on “58 bytes of CSS to look great nearly everywhere” mkws theme
looks terrible and scrolling is broken on mobile lol what is this?
peanut_worm··on Coroner lists Instagram algorithm as contributing cause of UK teen’s death
That is stupid. Why is it Facebook’s job to raise children
peanut_worm··on Why “go nuts, show nuts” doesn’t work in 2022
It seems like it all comes back to advertising. No one wants their legitimate ad shown next to porn.
peanut_worm··on America’s Funniest Home Surveillance Network Isn’t Funny
arent the clips voluntarily submitted?
peanut_worm··on If Your Quiet Quitting Is Going Well, You Might Be Getting ‘Quiet Fired’
How is doing your job description “quiet quitting”? I thought it meant doing nothing at all or much less than what is expected. This feels like propaganda.
peanut_worm··on Google is shutting down Stadia
Its almost humorous at this point how many services they shut down. Starting to get worried about my google domains.
peanut_worm··on Why do developers find Kubernetes so hard?
You can probably say the same for a lot of recently popular technologies, like React and Rust. They all have their uses but they don’t need to be shoehorned into every project.
peanut_worm··on Kill-sticky, a bookmarklet to remove sticky elements and restore scrolling
Seems kind of pointless. Browsers are basically just virtual machines that run web applications at this point. I can’t even think of any plain text and image websites besides my own.
peanut_worm··on Want to learn Linux but scared to damage system
You can install a live distro on a usb stick.
peanut_worm··on Amazon walking back raises after internal bug miscalculated compensation
I am confused how something as important as employee salaries was completely automated
peanut_worm··on Hell Is a World in Which Everybody Writes Like Axios
Terrible News site A writes slam piece about terrible news site B.
peanut_worm··on Ask HN: Why do people write comments?
> Most comments will not be read by anyone

Thats not true at all. Lots of people will read it. Like 1/3 comments gets a reply.

I read comments on almost everything. I like having varying viewpoints. If I am reading something about a subject that I am not very familiar with I might not know its opinionated unless there are user comments.

peanut_worm··on Linux on the laptop works so damn well that it’s boring
Trackpad drivers are still horrible as far as I know
peanut_worm··on CIA launches a podcast, hoping to ‘demystify’ the agency and boost recruitment
Wonder if they will be sponsored by Audible
peanut_worm··on 'Soleus pushup' fuels metabolism for hours while sitting
Wonder if this has anything to do with how some people nervously tap their feet
peanut_worm··on Effects of grill patterns on fan performance/noise (2011)
Didn’t think it would make such a big difference. I am also surprised the mesh was so quiet, I would have assumed it would have been the loudest.
