peachananr··on The 'Save Money and Pursue Passion Later' Myth
Hey, I am the author of that article. Just to clarify, the article was written way back in 2012 when I started MyColorScreen. I was working on it part-time in the evening and on weekends while working full-time as a software developer (in a company in Bangkok, Thailand) during the day.

I have since sold it to a US company a year and a half later and I began traveling the world. Now, I travel full-time and have been doing so for the past 10 years. :) The article was on my old Tumblr and I moved it to my travel blog.

Hope this clarifies it for you.

I think you can define a country as a 3rd world by the amount of foreign aid that country is getting.
peachananr··on Traveling the World on a Third World Passport
Yes and for us this world passport holders we can't even fly a flight that has 2 transits in the EU. Since flying from Rome to Paris is considered domestic, I will need a schegen visa for that.

I lost a 1300 USD flight once because of the flight I wanted to take to Bogota, Colombia passes through Rome and Paris. :/

That is the sole reason why I'm going to the US. National Parks!

Hey, I am the author. Greetings from Bajawa, Flores! Beautiful country you have! And you are right, Indonesia is massive. I've been back and forth at least 5 times in the past 6 years and still haven't been to Sumatra adn Sulawesi!

But yes, that's what I did as well by starting my journey in Cambodia and worked my way from there :)

peachananr··on Traveling the World on a Third World Passport
Thank you for the suggestion. I'll definitely give it a go :)
peachananr··on Traveling the World on a Third World Passport
Not for us Thais. We are visa free. I think they do it the way your country imposed them first. EU imposed the visa, they do the same back etc.

That's what I believe at least. :)

Thank you for sharing my article here guys! Glad it gets the discussion going!

To address one of the point in the comments about why i dont have a US Visa is that I haven't been traveling there at all and the process of getting a visa for Thais are very difficult, more so than the Schengen one. We have to fill in the longest form ever online, make an appointment and pay upfront, and then they will call me to have a one on one interview session and I have to dress properly (business attire apparently) for it just require so much effort that I decided to go to other countries instead. But even with the US Visa I won't be able to ask for a visa abroad in countries like Kazakhstan or many other countries that have embassy in Bangkok. They always ask for a proof of residency in the country I ask for the visa. :/

I'm glad it gets the conversion going though and the US is finally on the list now for me and I'll try and see if I can get 10 years. Apparently they are giving less and less of that nowadays as well.

peachananr··on Show HN: Travelistly TV – Non-Stop Travel Videos
Thank you for the comment! My intention was to create a TV experience from a website. :) Although, the content is a mixed of Youtube and Vimeo so another solution to your problem maybe needed.

peachananr··on Civet coffee: why it's time to cut the crap
It costed me US$5 for a small cup in Bali and a bunch of other complimentary coffees and teas for free. Did you had the same experience?

Thanks for featuring BucketListly on your list! :) I'm honored.

peachananr··on Ask HN: what creative methods do you use to solve programming problems?
Leave your computer for a day. Go outside, enjoy life, and disconnect from your work. Worked every time for me.

If I still couldn't find a solution, I will eventually come up with a workaround during those disconnected times.

peachananr··on Sidr - A jQuery plugin for creating side menus
Now, this is useful for responsive design. :)
peachananr··on Email First Startups
This is an interesting approach. It's also a great way to build audience way before your real product launch.

I wish I know this before launching my latest startup, http://www.bucketlistly.com.

I always thought that you need a product first in order to build audience. Boy, how I was wrong and wasted countless days just to learn that you can build audience even without a product. :/

Thanks for sharing it here.

peachananr··on Procrastination is Not Laziness
This looks like a great article. I've bookmarked it for later. :D
peachananr··on Lousy web design trends that are making a comeback due to HTML5
Although some of the points aren't really related to HTML5 but these are annoyance that we all can agree on, should go away.
peachananr··on Why Study History?
Why study history? Because it's fun. How fun? Begin your journey right here:

peachananr··on Why Five Days in the Office Is Too Many
I love working at the office but not the whole 8 hours. I love it in the morning but when it's afternoon, I find myself more productive elsewhere, maybe a cafe.

This is an interesting approach that allows experiments. Would love to see how this will turn out. :)

peachananr··on What the smartest people do on the weekend, everyone else will do in 10 years
Right on. I couldn't have put it better than this.

Way to go! "You can not steal what's given freely!" :)
peachananr··on Ask HN: How do you prime/start a community for your site?
I was able to prime a community once with my first startup, MyColorscreen.com.

Here're what I did:

I attached myself to one of the already well known forum (XDA-Developers.com) and post regularly with a link back to my service showcasing how my service was better than what people were doing on the forum.

Since I am the user of my own service, I also keep feeding new content regularly to fake that there was activity.

If you are the user of your own service, it is easier to ask yourself "where would I be socializing", and "what kind of content I would like to see".

Ask these questions and fake it until you make it. :)

peachananr··on Too Late? For What?
Yes you are correct. You can create your own startup and work for yourself. :)
peachananr··on Too Late? For What?
As long as you have passion, anything is possible. :) Thanks for the comment!
peachananr··on The most common failure mode is failing to show up
scumbag brains and its automated risk aversion..
peachananr··on Ask HN: Where do you keep your ideas?
I use Springpad and its Chrome extension.

Whenever I have an idea, I would add it in an already existung "idea" notebook and if that idea develops then I would create a new notebook just for that project.

Whenever I found content related to the project on an Internet, I would use the chrome extension to pin it to that notebook.
