paulovsk··on List of 33 MOOCs starting in September
This CS222 is gonna be awesome!
paulovsk··on The Most Important Writing Lesson I Ever Learned
"If you're pumping out good shit, people will follow you."

paulovsk··on Books Every Entrepreneur Should Read
thank you
paulovsk··on A day in the life of a startup founder
I laughed hard on this one.

>"Currently we're in double stealth mode (the public doesn't know what we're building and neither do we)."

paulovsk··on My Experiences With Modafinil
I think that's scary too, but it's probably some laziness on doing my own research. Besides, it's a cultural thing, outsourcing our health to physicians, so most of us aren't used to do it by ourselves.
paulovsk··on One Million page views on movies.io
it'll be disturbing, though.
paulovsk··on Richard Feynman’s Caltech Graduation Address on Integrity
To be more precise, he used isolation tanks and not meditation (as far as I can tell, after reading his autobiography "Surely you're joking, Mr. Feynman", highly recommended).

He played around with lockpicking too. Outstanding dude.

paulovsk··on Why read books if we can’t remember what’s in them?
could you make a list of those books that formed you?
paulovsk··on Show HN: movies.io — torrent search like it should be
Beautiful. The background HD image was a nice touch.
paulovsk··on Show HN: movies.io — torrent search like it should be
>"Passworded torrents? Dear god, where have you been?"

That's actually pretty, pretty sad. Last week I've downloaded the most seeded torrent of the movie "In Time" and it came passworded.

I got all surprised because it was THE MOST SEEDED.

paulovsk··on Ask HN: I have a day job, one kid and one on the way, how can I get things done?
that's a really good idea. working in the morning is good for the most people too.
paulovsk··on Show HN: clipboard.com, the best way to save anything online
It's a beutiful service, but I still can't see how to make good use out of it.

It seems to me a Evernote-ish within your network. I'll keep using for a while and, in the case I come up with any feedback, I'll share with you guys.

Thanks for a bonus to HN users.

paulovsk··on MIT and Harvard announce edX
>"It's a very engaging way to learn and I'm getting a lot out of it. The CV course, on the other hand, has so far just been videos of the professor talking & no supplementary material. I suspect that Coursera provides the platform and leaves how the material is presented on it up to the professor."

It's probably this. I'm taking Model Thinking on Coursera and there are at least 2 pdf for each section (20 sections). Some of them from professor's book, some links on the web or some scientific articles.

I even stop reading it all because it's time consuming, but I'm happy it's been offered anyway.

About the style, well, it fits in the Content: programming stuff is better on Udacity; academical/theorical stuff, Coursera.

paulovsk··on My Project: Qotr, a quote board for your friends
Here http://qotr.net/Quotes/ the quotes draw less attention than the buttons themselves. You could make the font bigger or more attractive, I guess.

What language did you guys use in this project?

paulovsk··on SkyDrive is a threat to Dropbox
I wouldn't say that.

Dropbox is good because is ridiculously simple. I've been using Windows 8 + Skydrive full time and well, it's not a sunshine.

It's buggy, and just upload files (not folders) and I don't believe it will get so much better after the official launch.

And yes, Dropbox is probably screwed. I've been using SugarSync just because it gives me more free space.

If google drive is just as good as dropbox, well, you know the drill.

paulovsk··on New courses added to Coursera (Humanities, Medicine, ...)
Does anyone know what TBA means?

https://www.coursera.org/courses

paulovsk··on New courses added to Coursera (Humanities, Medicine, ...)
Exactly. There's a TON of courses, now! Impressive.
paulovsk··on Show HN: Q&A for HN users
Agreed.

More information is necessary. I'm really scared of signing up to something with my fb account without know exactly what for.

It's not a question of people jerking around the every topic like this, here in hacker news. It's an actual need that those who made the service didn't pay attention to.

paulovsk··on I'm burning out and I can't tell anyone
Sleep enough. Eat well. Don't forget the fitness. You can't let the body go, he's essential to mind.

I'd recommend some sort of mind training... just relaxing doing what other people says is relaxing almost never helps (beach, book, etc).

Check this out [english audio]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHjyMq6eZB8

This one is good too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogH3KAge6zw

paulovsk··on Peter Norvig to teach 'Design of Computer Programs' at Udacity
It's kinda frustrating, though. Coursera PGM, for example, takes something like 10h/week.It's too much.

But I'm happy and grateful because it exists; don't get me wrong.

Exciting times.

paulovsk··on The Last Question - Isaac Asimov
Really thanks for this answer.

I didn't get very well the theorem you mention, but I'll ask a math guy friend of mine.

Many Kudos for you.

paulovsk··on The Last Question - Isaac Asimov
An off-topic question: I've studied statistics in my course (engineering) but I haven't gone deep. I know the concepts superficially, like exponencial, polinomial and stuff.

In this situation: what book do you recommend to me? I want to able to reason a thought like that, more real-world stuff.

paulovsk··on Show HN: my weekend(s) project, instant websites
You could use Guy Kawasaki's G+ page.

Shoot him an email and ask. Probably he's gonna love it.

paulovsk··on Show HN: my weekend(s) project, instant websites
Nice! I've registered and kinda like it.

Integrate with facebook would be hard?

paulovsk··on Windows 8 Consumer Preview released.
Thanks!

The setup gave me one, too. I'll save both, just in case.

paulovsk··on Windows 8 Consumer Preview released.
How much time I'll be able to use this version? Does it expire?
paulovsk··on Right versus pragmatic
Really nice piece.
paulovsk··on How Exercise Fuels the Brain
Indeed.
paulovsk··on Paulo Coelho advertises on Pirate Bay front page
Posso comentar em português nesse texto? Just asking :D

Muito boa a iniciativa do Paulo. Ainda não li nenhum livro dele, mas como é o preferido de Will Smith, lerei em breve.

paulovsk··on Summify acquired by Twitter
I don't get it either. I used to love it :(
