2. Become clear if you want somebody remote or on site, freelance or fulltime.
3. Start looking for your ideal candidate trough - your social reach (people who like what you are doing already) - your network (2nd and 3rd level connections on linked in) - go profile hunting on designer pages like Dribble, behance 99Designs, etc. to find a style "you like" if it is about visual design - approach them, duh ;-)
Hope that helps?!
PS: I am currently writing a how to guide to find and hire UX Designers [1]. If you want to see the draft and give feedback just send me an email (see profile)
How do the finished html+css files fit into your workflow?
- just courious ;)
a) just improve coding skills >> code from scratch b) have a website up and running >> use a wp theme
personal note: I dont really get "lack of uniqueness" - in terms of features or just visual appearance?
Adaptive content: What you see is based on your previous usage of the app/site and not generalized what everyone is looking at. Pretty common... - Amazon suggestions, Google results, Facebook stream or even your auto-correct suggestions of your phone keyboard.
Adaptive Interfaces: Where the actual controls, tools, menus change in favor of your usage behaviour, or desired behaviour of "users like you".
(Its not quite clear if this actually helps or harms the UX because the UI could change without the user understanding why an menu item is not available anymore where it used to be)
- I am blank on real-world example "software" here - But web/landingpage optimization tools like optimizely use predefined rules to change anything on the UI, (like showing a CTA button or a video, hiding a menu, etc.) where others like dynamicyield move into the direction of AI-automating that test-generation and decision making in favor of a single metric (CTR / Conversion / etc.)
In the end you could argue that every real-world application is only using "adaptive content" and not actual "adaptive UI".
In UX an interesting trend is a flood of Software Tools which help during Design, evaluation, Research, etc.
Also adaptive UI which is changed due to user attributes and past behaviour seems to be trendy now (supported by the online marketing field with auto-optimizing Interfaces which optimize for conversion autonomously, etc.)
- an autonomous wall-construction-bots business ;-)
- anything which takes advantage of rising sea levels (like boats, waterproof housing on smaller areas, natural desaster warning and evacuation systems for private people or gvt) and something to handle the following mass migrations
And on getting ideas stolen... Most people dont even enough time for their own ideas. But Feedback helps a Lot.
Which city are you living in? Any Start-Up/Meetups or Dev Meetups you could Swing by?
- Does the platform take a cut from your ad-revenue?
- Are you able to find and coordinate a developer (android + iOS) by yourself?
- Are the revenues high enough to sustain regular development efforts on both platforms (pay your dev) + pay yourself a fair share for the effort?
That would be the questions I'd ask myself before re-building the apps. Just keep in mind re-building them is not a one-time effort but a regular expense... especially if you add more complexity with new features.
We are running our business for ~3yrs now and just realized in the last few months that none of the all-nighters or skipped holidays actually made a difference in the end. So just from my personal experience I'd say you should actively plan and maintain a private life from the get-go - If you don't you are not "better" then another person who is just working to finally reach retirement...
