partyficial··on If math is more than proof, we need to better celebrate the rest of it
a good teacher remembers the journey, not just the destination.

socratic method exists. almost none follows it.

partyficial··on How to Write with an LLM
> you don't plan to read it

Not in full. I plan to read the LLM's summary. Most people could benefit from brevity.

author : writes the summary (prompt). LLM expands it to article.

reader : LLM summarizes the article. reader reads it.

both author and reader are free to use, or not use LLM. I don't see the big deal here.

partyficial··on US Military had close call after using AI for hallucinated intelligence report
both. they wanted to deceive people (lie). so they made up a reason (hallucinate).
partyficial··on How to Write with an LLM
the author can ask the same question - why should I write something if you're just going to use a LLM to summarize it ?

This is an unnecessary argument both ways. Whether you use a LLM or write it yourself or read it yourself (and then comment on it), you're putting your signature beneath it. I don't care whether you use your natural brain or an artifical brain (LLM)

> We (ideally) change our beliefs with every new piece of input. That's good.

sounds like a cope. like shifting goalposts. or no true scotsman fallacy.

if I see a tree in front of me, and 2 seconds later I close my eyes, and someone asks me if there is a tree in front of me, should I say yes because I "know" it, or because I "believe" it ?

In that 2 seconds, the tree could have fallen down. So if i said "yes", I wouldn't be lying but I would be incorrect.

Therefore all "knowledge" is belief about some past "truth". Whether you call it faith, evidence-based, dogma etc. they all do fall under the same bucket if you think deeply about it.

partyficial··on The DeepMind Institute
Rarely do I sit through a 40 minute youtube video end to end, fully engaged - above was one of them.

It is the only video in that channel, and worth it.

partyficial··on The DeepMind Institute
75 years and we get to play Victor Frankenstein ?

seems like a very short timeline to me.

I'm constantly amazed by what people think is "long-term" on HN.

partyficial··on A single firm is behind OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta hacking scandals
they're all men, too. and white. at least one of them is gay.

does that matter as well ?

partyficial··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026)
how did you get this data ? do you work at HN ?

partyficial··on Douglas Hofstadter: Analogy as the Core of Cognition [video]
Every analogy, by design, has both similarities and differences. The intention is to focus on the similarities, and ignore the differences.

If I say, your face is like the moon, I mean it is bright, not that it is a million miles away.

partyficial··on I-have-ADHD: A skill to stop coding agents from burying the answer
it's the same tradeoff between :

- rigidity vs flexibility

- determinism vs creativity

- conservative vs liberal

- right vs left

if you know exactly what you want and how to describe it, use SOAP-XML/REST etc.

if you don't know exactly what you want or how to describe it, use LLM/MCP

> You'll just be cut out of the conversation

that's a bad thing ?

> you won't reap the benefits

but that IS my claim - I will reap benefits proportional to my actions (good or bad).

e.g. if global warming causes a flood, my house may be destroyed because I drove cars, but a boat would save me because I was vegetarian.

(the next salvo in this conversation will immediately turn into religious theology, so if that's not your thing, ignore this)

partyficial··on Nitter has more working instances than before the takedowns
I can never ever understand the sentiment of - 'If I do/do-not-do XYZ, it won't make a difference since millions of people are still not-doing/doing XYZ in the world'.

It gives same energy as "If I avoid murder, it won't make a difference since murders still happen in the world. If I avoid meat to help climate change, it won't make a difference since millions still eat meat".

The goal is not to get the WORLD to stop. It is to get ME to stop. I will reap its benefits regardless of what happens to others.

partyficial··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
He didn't say it was a cyber-attack, but it was a cyber-attack risk. Being able to bypass instructions (morality) and security restrictions (capability) is bread and butter for hacking.
partyficial··on Lion-man
Nah, that is Hinduism as seen through the Western lens.

"Sanatana" in Sanatana Dharma means Eternal. The 4 cyclic yugas are well documented in every Sanskrit literature. We are currently in year 5127 of Kali Yug i.e. it started in 3102 BC with the departure of Bhagavan Krishna from earth after Kurukshetra war, which marked the end of previous yuga (Dwapara).

Kali Yug lasts 432,000 years. After which the next cycle begins.

Eventually after Brahma's lifetime is over, Pralaya occurs. Then the universe goes quiet for a long time, until Lord creates again. And this cycle of creation and destruction goes on forever.

partyficial··on Our decision on Cursor following its acquisition by SpaceX
i keep hearing this trope repeated ad nauseam cos people put no thought into it.

you only need people's money if you can't control their labor.

did a plantation owner in the 1600s need the money of his slaves ?

if you control a robot that can fight and take over land, enslave workers for things robots are bad at, harvest food, create buildings etc. what do you need other people for ? your entertainment? robots can do that too.

partyficial··on Delayed Gratification – Proud to Be 'Last to Breaking News'

Now i have to research whether two sources are true or not.

partyficial··on Delayed Gratification – Proud to Be 'Last to Breaking News'
> half of the news articles are just a collection of quotes from officials or politicians in public statements, being regurgitated without any additional effort

that is EXACTLY what i want in news.

i do not want your summarization opinion out-of-context clickbait eye-catching headline snippet.

partyficial··on GitLost: We Tricked GitHub's AI Agent into Leaking Private Repos
the current AI mania is trying to shoe-horn a creative system into a deterministic one.

LLMs are creative. Databases are deterministic.

There is no right or wrong in a 'zero money image'.

There is right and wrong in a 'zero money update'.

partyficial··on Most arguments are about ego, not ideas
most arguments are due to differing definition of words in the arguers' minds.

almost every heated argument that I've carelessly gotten myself into, I have gotten out of, by saying : "let's first start with what we agree upon - does word X mean the same to both of us?"

partyficial··on Sixty percent of US consumers say 'AI' in brand messaging is a turnoff
> Everyone would prefer

far from true. I (and many others) prefer cookie cutter things, because I know what to expect, and due to quality control of big companies.

e.g. hotels > airbnb, amazon essentials > etsy hand-knit, Lays chips > Ray's chips
