parham··on Our position on open-weights models
Dude is churning out brain rot slop. That text read as if it was vibed out on the couch
parham··on GoDaddy gave a domain to a stranger without any documentation
I’ve successfully saved many people suffering with godaddy.

As soon as the word is mentioned I tell them the horror stories.

Saving this to the bucket of stories.

parham··on Show HN: Django Control Room – All Your Tools Inside the Django Admin
It’s the initial starting point, calm down.

I like the idea it can help for initial inspection and smell detection

parham··on Announcing the Beta release of ty
Django support will be a game changer on top of the game changer ty is!
parham··on Show HN: Devbox – Containers for better dev environments
I’ve been doing a version of this using bash scripts for a long time! Thanks for making it
parham··on Next.js is infuriating
I didn’t fully read the post, but pretty sure they have a good point. I inherited next.js on a project it is the absolute worst framework.

I don’t need/want to elaborate.

parham··on Happy 20th Birthday, Django
The most amazing and well thought out web framework I’ve ever used.

Cannot wait for the async and bg work interface!

Happy birthday Django you cutie

parham··on I made a chair
Looks like a minimalist Rietveld chair! Nice job
parham··on You should know this before choosing Next.js

parham··on You should know this before choosing Next.js
Not to mention the absolute worst dev build time that’s had an open PR with a lot of complaints for years and not addressed.
parham··on A coder considers the waning days of the craft
This will test how egoless each programmer is.

If you’re truly egoless and care about the outcome and not the path to the outcome… you’ll see how exciting this is.

parham··on Things I wish I knew before moving 50K lines of code to React Server Components
So if I understood correctly RSC are the “next iteration” of iframes?
parham··on Bram Moolenaar has died
Rest in peace! I would not be able to function as a dev without Vim. Amazing work
parham··on I have reached Vim nirvana
I would say that’s making the assumption that IDE is actually bound to the key bindings in a useful way (e.g. file exploring)

I have yet to find an IDE that has integrated well with key bindings.

yes

parham··on Show HN: Digs.fm – For passionate music explorers (like Goodreads but for music)
Good job but a heads up: this has been done a gazillion times... loads shutdown after a short run. Worthwhile researching others for reference at least
parham··on Startups, this is how design works (2012)
I mean at least have good design… that was a bad use of the web medium.
parham··on Flask Mega-Tutorial (2017)
I could argue that you're trying to solve problems in a way that's "smart" to you rather than following proven patterns.
parham··on Flask Mega-Tutorial (2017)
I learnt it quite well actually. Used it in a few projects one quite large.

It worked ok for internal apis not open to customers, but even then Django was much better as just setting up the admin side provided a lot of value to the business (for free).

All forgotten now but wasted a huge amount of time glueing things together that came for free with Django.

parham··on Flask Mega-Tutorial (2017)
This was my go to for learning Flask, I wish I never found it. Flask has a very niche use case in my opinion and if you need something to scale (in terms of code complexity) Flask is the absolute worst decision you can make.

Try Django instead. If you read my comment history you'll see that I learnt this the hard way.

parham··on Show HN: A daily math puzzle inspired by Wordle
similar idea to https://nerdlegame.com/

Both good

parham··on Python's Type Checking Renaissance
Why would you add type checking to Python! Using another language with static typing would be the solution. It’s not like the browser where you have to use Javascript so you add another layer to your toolchain.
parham··on “I'm basically giving myself a permanent vacation from being BDFL”
Thank you for all your efforts and hard work.

It has changed a lot of lives and will continue to do so for a long time.

Enjoy the vacation and take care of yourself.

parham··on Taarof
I can tell you Taarof is one of the worst traditions us Iranians have, it's like playing reverse poker.

Taarof is mostly based on context, with a stranger it's never genuine but with within friends and family you will want to pull your hair out. You will begin to pay for stuff just to skip the awkward Taarof, but will have no choice to engage in it when the other person has to give in to the Taarof.

parham··on Show HN: Mattermark for PR built whilst in College
just two, me and the OP
parham··on Ask HN: Working through burnout?
I don't have much experience with stretching before sleep, but sounds like it would work, and work well! I only use meditation to clear my mind so I can get some peace and away from the problem I've been trying to solve during the day, otherwise I would be awake all night!

I really do prefer weight training an hour or so before sleep, it just gets the blood flowing without increasing the heart rate too much.

parham··on Ask HN: Working through burnout?
I have to say these three do wonders and are critical for sustainable productivity.
