paradoxyl··on Jury finds Facebook liable for deceiving users in Cambridge Analytica case
If I was on any jury ever I would vote Zuckberger guilty of everything. He is a creature of nepotism, a monster of a broken system.
paradoxyl··on Netherlands pulls gold out of the US
The pedantry of being angry at the US for being the only country that actually has the word "America" in its name and yet calling itself American is almost comical in its ineptitude.

Nobody shakes their metaphorical fist at the Central African Republic for daring to use Central African as its demonym. It's simply understood that the surrounding countries are also African, yet simply do not have the name of the continent in its name.

But if you do want to be pedantic, England is not technically a country anymore, it's the United Kingdom.

paradoxyl··on I built a multiplayer version of the 4,500-year-old Royal Game of Ur
Fun and intuitive, obvious forerunner to backgammon. It's quite a feeling to play a boardgame so old. Thank you.
paradoxyl··on Deep-sea vehicles spot 'alien' sharks deep beneath the waves in the Pacific
yeah, calling these sharks who are native to our world 'alien' is kinda off-putting and obviously click-baity.
paradoxyl··on A directory of people who love RSS
What sort of punishment should the monopolist google execs who destroyed blogs undergo? A fair punishment might be clawback of all wages and stock options and about five years in a minimum security prison with a permenant felony on their record. I think that's fair.
paradoxyl··on How to Spot AI Writing
"We love founder Joe and his passion infuses our workplace. We are pleased to announce founder Joe is now pursuing his own interests and his passion of spending more time with his loved ones."

I can't even do justice to useless HR speak.

paradoxyl··on How to Spot AI Writing
What happened to unreadable sociological journals since AI, the kinds where people used to make (manual) generators that could imitate their vacuous fluff. For ai, it should be effortless to flood their submissions with literal nonsense.

Can't find a link to the pre-AI generators... they are ALL ai paper generators now.

paradoxyl··on Everyone is building LLM routers, we deprecated ours
AIs are like (insert clickbait keyword). You just have to (insert clickbait call to action).
paradoxyl··on Dubious research tied to Red Bull has shaped energy drink policy
Until real legal consequences like manslaughter charges are applied to liars who prostitute themselves to power, people will die for elite profits.
paradoxyl··on Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta warn against overregulating open-weight models
Let's cynically encourage the abuse of the democratic process.
paradoxyl··on Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta warn against overregulating open-weight models
yes, what paragrons of virtue who lie about all their financials.
paradoxyl··on Who manages the agents?
The entire bubble, boom if you prefer, is built on this. Basic knowledge work can be done by robots, goodbye humans. It's serious and profound. It will come in fits and starts unless there is popular revolution against the elite criminals.
paradoxyl··on John Deere owners will get the right to repair equipment under FTC settlement
I demand from our reps a right to privacy and a right to repair and anyone who votes against this is out.
paradoxyl··on The vintage beauty of Soviet control rooms (2018)
Gorgeous pictures, but I dislike the "chef hats" in the first image. It makes them seem less like top-notch scientists and more like short-order cooks.
paradoxyl··on Apple sues OpenAI, accuses ex-employees of stealing trade secrets
Companies take cultural cues from leadership. When you have a puffed-up sociopath who has never accomplished anything but lying his way to the top, this is what you get.

I'm both infuriated and worried that such a flim-flam man has put himself at the center of the U.S. stock market.

paradoxyl··on We can still stop California's 3D printer surveillance scheme
The racketeering statutes should be applied to the treasonous elites within business, government, and banking who conspire to use "private-public" partnerships to subvert the U.S. Constitution and our indiviudual rights. I further believe these individuals and groups need to be arrested, prosecuted, and punished to the full extent that the treason clause permits.
paradoxyl··on WordStar: A Writer's Word Processor (1996)
My point exactly; sci-fi you even more need to refer to accurate statistics whatever they may be.
paradoxyl··on PlayStation Is Deleting 551 Movies from Customers' Accounts
I believe DVDs and Blu-Ray discs and players will increase in value over time, almost like samizdat printing presses -- underground video viewers that let us watch movies without the monolithic globalist corporate police state observing, penalizing, demanding identitification, and trying to extract an ounce of monopolist rentier blood.
paradoxyl··on We can still stop California's 3D printer surveillance scheme
If you have the resources, you could also serve her with papers. IANAL, but that arguably is libel, defamation, harassment and so incredibly insane that it deserves a severe legal smackdown.
paradoxyl··on WordStar: A Writer's Word Processor (1996)
These programs are great for sitting down and writing with no distractions, but if you have a setup with directories full of word docs, text files, various graphics, even excel sheets all related to what you are working on that you need to refer to and cross-reference, they are less useful than an older version of Word or OpenOffice/LibreOffice. And they are difficult to export, share... there's a reason we don't use typewriters anymore, or DOS programs whose output is confined within a single program.
paradoxyl··on The rise of South Korea’s weapons business
Gross incompetent Western elites, shoved full of garbage ideology, go and outsource all manufacturing and are astounded, astounded! that countries and peoples that dare to resist their tyranny can build cheaper than their corrupt, criminal networks of nepotism.
paradoxyl··on Google will pay SpaceX $920M per month for compute
Supply and demand? Bubblists seem to think there's an infinite supply of chips, power, and water to make as many chat bots as possible; physics, as usual, dictates limits.
paradoxyl··on Pre-Modern Armies for Worldbuilders, Part I: Why They Fight
I'm sorry, this is just sententious bloviation. The sources are so thin, there's no reason to go around imputing all these fantastical ideas that somehow benefit your own beliefs. It's just boring and insipid to watch people fall into this trap over and over.
paradoxyl··on India's surprise baby bust
Totalitarian societies of the future will solve this with technology, with all the unfortunate side effects that will entail.
paradoxyl··on What Is a Dickover?
"Login with your Google or some other globalist public-private tyrannical spyware trash" is the most common "dickover" around.
paradoxyl··on The dead economy theory
Selective history marinated with ideological bias. Unreadable.
paradoxyl··on FBI Arrests CIA Official with $40M in Gold Bars in His Home
Its nickname since the 1970s has been Criminals in Action, when they were smuggling heroin out of the Golden Triangle to fund covert actions during the Vietnam War.
paradoxyl··on FBI Arrests CIA Official with $40M in Gold Bars in His Home
The cover of national security has allowed a certain type of organized crime to proliferate to the point it's breaking society.
paradoxyl··on Ask.com has closed
as I recall, they hired writers and freelancers who put together broad articles that got pointed too when you asked a question, instead of trying to answer questions individually... but my memory could be off, that was 20 years ago.
paradoxyl··on Google plans to invest up to $40B in Anthropic
Creating productivity gain narrtives
