If your main point was poverty and location, adding race to the description certainly doesn’t help especially with the poor minority vs rich white/Asian angle.

I believe through WeChat.

I also had defense background and the the idea of buying enough components for lifetime of the device comes up regularly as part of the project obsolescence process. There are teams that would look at the supply of materials, and if one was going obsolete/limited availability, we would buy up as many as we need for the project plus safety margin and just store them.

I have gigabit internet (downstream only... hoping for fiber one day for symmetric up/down), and I run wired gigabit ethernet for desktops and fixed devices to free up the wifi. For 99% everyday use it works just fine. Externally I hit 80+ MB/s on internet download (aggregate, very few sites saturate my downstream bandwidth), and internally I hit 90+ MB/s to and from my NAS. The only time I wish it was faster is when transferring really large files to/from the NAS, but only for 10GB+, so the extra cost of either SFP+ or copper 2.5/5/10G upgrade to the network is not really warranted. One day I might install a NVME cache on my NAS and run a straight 10G fiber from my workstation to the NAS, but that's more of a luxury (look I can transfer 10GB file in 10 sec instead of 100 sec!) than need.

I have a similar setup, except I also have a windows machine for gaming with Steam Link.

I love the Uniball Signo .38 mm gel pens. They are smooth and doesn’t gum up at the tip.

For those interested in fountain pens, inks, and papers, I’ve found Fountain Pen Network to be a great resource.

100% base pay + 116% year end bonus + ??% performance bonus. So total of 226% of base pay plus whatever performance bonus on top.

Edit: it’s customary in Taiwan to measure the tear end bonus in 1 month pay equivalents (8.3% of base pay).

I use rectangle with a 5k2k 40” ultra wide monitor and it’s awesome. Very flexible and customizable, and I highly recommended it. Did I mention it’s free and open source? :)

They should migrate to minidiscs :D

It’s like playing a piano. Start with slow tempo and get everything right. Then gradually speed up while maintaining the quality. And at a certain point it is not possible to write faster without changing the shapes of letters to be more cursive like, and that is ok.

+1 for jet pens. No affiliation, just happy customer who’ve spent more than should have.

I feel that idea is more like the initial unit vectors providing a direction, and execution is the multiplier to the initial vector.

Well, multiplication is commutative. ;)

Hi Quinn,

Thanks for the additional information. I did the same thing last year when target had similar offers for $600 or $700 of Apple gift cards and fortunately didn’t run into the same problem as you did. I hope everything works out for you with Apple.

I wonder if there are any additional back story? Sounds like he bought large number of Apple gift cards during the black friday sale and then added them to the iTunes account in short amount of time. However, there are limits in place so it’s difficult to purchase that many. If any of the gift cards were bought by others on Amazon/Target/Best Buy and re-sold to him, and the original purchaser committed fraud in obtaining the gift cards, then the cards may be black listed. This could explain the banning especially if large number of them were originally obtained fraudulently.

I was surprised that San Francisco was not in the top ten, then the article explains that the index tracks products and services which I presume excluding housing cost. However, I am still surprised Los Angeles ranks higher than SF.

I assume the price is not inflation adjusted?

Yup, you can use it to input letters and numbers.

Thanks for correcting math. :)

1 in 20 UC students is really high. UCSD has 31k undergraduate students, and that would mean around 1500 homeless students just at one campus?

I wonder if this is a side effect of the high tuition even for in-state students.

Edit: correct number of homeless students.

Doesn’t Facebook use Hack, a PHP derivative, internally?

The operator. I am sure the EULA already says driver is responsible.

Completely agree with you. I preordered both gen 1 and gen 2, and after receiving the gen 2 I passed my gen 1 around among friends interested in remarkable to help them decide if the device fits their usage pattern.

IMO remarkable already have extremely stiff competition from the iPads, and the only advantage is it’s eink display. The iPad is pretty much better in every other dimension except for the eink display, but then it’s different rather than worse, since it allows for much more applications (graphics, movies, etc). I truly wish the best for remarkable and for them to start the flood of more high quality eink reader/writer devices.

It’s the GP’s domain.

Just kidding… probably literal meaning.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if a hired driver speeds then whose income is the speeding fine based on?

True. I should change it to spouse.

I wonder if it’s the opposite. From my experience dentists tend to run their own practice or partner with one or two other dentists. Could it just make sense for the spouse to run the financial / administrative portion of the small business?

Edit: s/wife/spouse

Looking at the data in your second link, the performances differ by less than 3%. Looks like paulmd’s assertion that both are the same cpu core is fairly well supported by the data.
