pajko··on A plastic made from milk that vanishes in 13 weeks
And you even get CO2-free meat in the end (I mean, if all the CO2 output is attributed to milk production only).

pajko··on Uninitialized garbage on ia64 can be deadly (2004)
The first generation was complete garbage. Itanium 2 came too late and it did not get widespread due to wrong business decisions and marketing. By the time it could have been successful, AMD64 was out. And even then Intel targeted only the same high-end enterprise market segment, when they have implemented 64-bit on Xeon: https://www.cnet.com/tech/tech-industry/intel-expanding-64-b...
pajko··on Google confirms Android attacks; no fix for most Samsung users
Both mentioned CVEs seem to be about local privilege escalation. So basically yes, if you don't install crap apps, there's a high chance that you are protected. Problem is that it might not seem to be a crap app, but a nice-looking game, etc. Also an attack can come in with an update of any app you have already installed on your phone.

pajko··on Google CTF 2025 – webz : Exploiting zlib's Huffman Code Table
Seems like it's not just arbitrary, but crafted. Could not find it anywhere, for example, searching for "DISTS so we can remove overflow checks from" (with quotes ofc) brings up just this site, both in Google and Bing. It has typos, btw. It would be another issue if it came from https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/HEAD/third_..., but that's not the case.
pajko··on WTF is up with everything using Android?
It has an integrated web browser.
pajko··on Ask HN: Where can I genetically test myself without risking privacy?
MyHeritage has a long and detailed privacy policy. Seems like that they are aiming to meet EU standards. Don't have personal experience though, and they might not provide everything what you are looking for.

pajko··on RIP pthread_cancel
This is clearly an implementation error in getaddrinfo(). It should set up cleanup functions: https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man3/pthread_cleanup_push.3...
pajko··on The future of 32-bit support in the kernel
Why do you need a full blown Linux for that? Much of the provided features are overkill for such embedded systems. Both NuttX and Zephyr provide POSIX(-like) APIs, NuttX has an API quite similar to the Linux kernel, so it should be somewhat easier to port missing stuff (have not tried to do that, the project I was working on got cancelled)
