some things are better handled by local governments. There's nothing worse than private companies that can do things like force civil fines. Local government is more accountable to the people.
it's amazing how uncommon this is in the big business world. Individuals have pride, cogs do not. I've been in both camps. Currently I'm a cog because it's better for my life at the moment. I'm frustrated by the lack of simple documentation - but at the end of the day I'm not really interested in fixing it.
Exactly, they are for employees who want to make a case for promotion or management to make a case for layoffs and firing. Always give your self good ratings.
pure marxism has never tried! if only we try the pure version it will work better! Marx had some good idea, communism stinks. Agile manifesto has good ideas Agile stinks. Maybe not as bad, but let's move on
add partitioning and sharding, basic search in other DBs is pretty nice as well. I've come in on a project where the team did custom trig for distance queries that took 30 seconds to run once the data grew past their data set. All so they could use sqllite for local development.
I drink maybe 4 drinks total a month. I get where you're going with that though. There is actually data out there on smoking, and having a cigar once in a while isn't really more unsafe than sitting by the camp fire. Your body also recovers itself in most regards rather quickly after chronic smoking (months). I'm not a smoker, and it's better not to smoke because it's super addictive, but having a smoke is like having a drink, not unsafe per say. I'm more worried about sugar than alcohol.
I might be wrong here, but I have never heard the claim that 2 beers might be good for your health. I have heard that with wine, but that's not a claim that alcohol is good for your health.
The thinking is backwards on this. They state there is no scientific safe drinking level. They even compare it to radiation. The goal is to establish an unsafe level. it's like saying there is no safe speed to drive a car - sure that's technically true, but worthless to say.
Wow. this attitude is awful and sadly not that uncommon. I have a friend whose household income is around 400k, is an effective alturist, and tips 10% at restaurants because he thinks tipping is unfair. The only place you're really expected to tip is a restaurant - 15-20%. everything else is optional, but when you make a ton of money and have taken care of your own, you tip people well for the hard work they do for you. Seriously, most of on this site, if we've been working 10+ years should be giving a 20 to the handyman, or leaving $10 on the bed at the hotel.
credit cards are pure evil. And yet I have 2. What's worse is that they raise the cost at stores, payed for by people who don't pay them off on time. I'm no socialist, but that's certainly not progressive.
if you have land a horizontal trench at 7 ft will work just fine. I was going to do this on a new build but building code basically required a heat pump to start with. I was going to put in a cheap furnace for the first year or two and install a ground source heat pump myself, but with the cost of my regular heat pump it will never make sense to change over.
the history of money seems to be lost on you. It literally went through the same sorts of things. Fiat works because we learned. My Good that gun comparison was dumb.
it honestly sounds a lot like banking. We just have some rules now to prevent this sort of thing. It's not bitcoin that's the problem... It's the money changers.
I made an effort to look them all up for a while, almost all of them are custody disputes and the child isn't in real danger. I mostly ignore them now. We did have a girl nearby that was actually missing and they couldn't issue an amber alert because it didn't meet the criteria. It took them a few days to decide to issue one in exception to the criteria and within that day the girl was found (due to the amber alert).
after rereading effective c++ with a decade away from c++, my main takeaway is that c++ shouldn't ever be used. The title should be "55 reasons to not use c++ for your next project"
White americans do this too. Think ozarks. I know plenty of ridiculously smart people from this region, who if they talked about the food they ate or didn't work hard to extinguish their accents would probably not have jobs w/ coastal tech companies.
I'm a big conservationist, but I'm so disillusioned by it these days. You're onto something here. We don't seem to have much data on their population size, but all the articles start from 1997 data when the population was at a peak. You go back a few years and the numbers are lower. This is a private organization and I don't see the criteria by which they mark a species endangered. They probably just make stuff up. Most creatures go through population cycles, and just quickly looking at the data going back to the early 90's it seems monarchs have huge boom and busts. A monarch lays up to 500 eggs in a week... so if you have a good year with lots of food and low predation and 100x increase it not hard to understand. It also not hard to anticipate huge declines the following season.
I have a problem with it showing my passwords in plain text. So when I'm doing a demo where I share my screen everyone can see my passwords. I absolutely hate 1password.
Remember when early Google ads were useful? And not annoying. If you can hook me up with a product or service I might want that's great. In contrast I switched from liberty mutual insurance because their ads annoy me.
I think it's a tell when people get so fussy about style, if you can't get past non functional differences how are you going do on differences of functional differences. "my code is spaghetti and performs poorly, but at least I used a formatter!"
oh please, shouldn't it xe. website not Christine. I have 4 names and it doesn't always work out. It's not a big deal to not accommodate xe and Socrates perfectly either.
