Wow, that's some word play..
The author basically thinks he is smarter than the guys who founded facebook, and that they should do something he believes Steve Jobs would have done had he been with facebook?
I think it's a change in perspective. A 'program' is how a programmer would describe what he codes. An app, is what it should look like to someone who is interested in just using it.
Since those using "an app" should outnumber those who wrote "the program", it is better if it's called an app. It's like how the term 'bacon' is better suited than 'pig's belly'.
And what about the tax cost of 7 cents?
The consumers did see a change. The phones beacame usable (pleasure to use) from being unusable (pain to use).
Both facebook and craigslist have rights to block what they want. In facebook's case they wanted to block. In craigslist's case they don't want to block. Free speech is about letting fb or cl decide what they want to block or allow in their site and it is not contradictory to support both: fb's right to block and cl's right to allow.
How about something that just works?
Will those that were underestimating their ability start to correctly/over estimate it? i.e if they buy this concept.
Will those that were over estimating their abilities before, start to realize they were over estimating?
Will those that want to look/sound smart start to fake humility, since underestimating one's ability may give the idea that he is smart?
Oh well, ...
This way they basically can't lose money. If they sell something , they make a profit. If not, they don't make a loss. Ignoring fixed costs, this looks like a good idea to follow for a business, if feasible.
Makes sense.
