pacija··on Yugoslavia's Digital Twin – When a country's internet domain outlives the nation
There are so many places all over Europe where majority of population is not of same ethnicity as the rest of the country. Italians in Istria, Croatia. Basque people in Navarra, Spain. Hungarians in southern Slovakia or Vojvodina, northern Serbia. In all of the places I've mentioned and been to, there's a great level of autonomy for those ethnical minorities. Bilingual street signs, schools in native languages, churches etc.

This is what Kosovo had in Yugoslavia, and this is what Kosovo should have in Serbia, for ethnic Albanians.

pacija··on DKIM: Rotate and publish your keys
SPF says which IP adresses are authorized to send email for a domain. DKIM should increase confidence that email is sent by authorized service on servers with those IP addresses (eg. Postfix) as opposed to unauthorized ones (eg. telnet). Finally, DMARC instructs receiving servers how to act on receiving email for a domain regarding validity of SPF and DKIM. It is up to receiving servers to respect this instruction or not.

None of the above has anything to do with particular email message authenticity. Mechanisms for email authenticity, or additionally confidentiality, are S/MIME and PGP, where user controls the key, and it is up to them to make sure it doesn't leak.

I am providing email service to close to thousand users on dozens of domains over the course of fifteen years. The article does not make much sense to me from either postmaster's or mail user's point of view.

pacija··on The TRON Project: How Japan almost ruled IT (2022)
Wikipedia is so funny. I like to read topics about contraversial stuff related to my region of Balkans, both hr. (Croatian) and sr. (Serbian) versions. For the same topic, one side says national heroes, the other war criminals. One side's terrorists are other side's freedom fighters. One side's nazi collaborators are other side's innocent communist victims. And so on.

So, what's the truth? I guess whatever one chooses to believe. I like to create my truths from many different, contraversial or sometimes completely opposing sources on same topic. Your links are all in english language, in en. section of Wikipedia.

Bad guy for whom?

I don't think there are universally good and bad guys in this game. There are interests. If you live in the west your interest is for western economy to be the first which means for other economies to be, well, not first. If you live elsewhere the same applies.

As for me, I hate all of my overlords with passion. US EU Russia China, you are all the same to me. Not people, of course. Governments, armies and corporations. Well, almost the same. US and EU dropped bombs on me during my lifetime, Russia and China did not.

pacija··on Bitwarden: Free, open-source password manager
I would be more interested in knowing why would a password manager _get_ $1B.
pacija··on HelloSystem: A graphical OS built on FreeBSD
Ok, I see downvotes coming and I understand I didn't give enough context so I'll try to clarify.

I use BSD, particularly FreeBSD and OpenBSD, for two decades now. For the last 15 years professionally.

Four "recognized" members of BSD family are FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD and DragonflyBSD. Each of them pursue different goals - FreeBSD stability, OpenBSD security, NetBSD portability, DragonflyBSD no idea, never tried it. All of them have similar (make) but different way of building (poudriere / dpb) and managing (pkg / pkg_) packages, similar (rc) but different way of managing system services (rc.d/ / rc.conf.local), similar (ifconfig) but different (rc.conf's ifconfig_if / hostname.if) way of setting network interfaces, similar but different ways of containerization and virtualization (jails, chroot, vmm, bhyve) etc.

I have reasons why I would choose FreeBSD over OpenBSD for storage server (ZFS), or vice versa for router / firewall (rdomains, pf, bgpd, ospfd, iked / ipsec etc.)

I don't have a slightest idea why would I choose HelloSystem or HardenedBSD for my laptop instead of FreeBSD.

pacija··on HelloSystem: A graphical OS built on FreeBSD
I also find these BlahBlahBSDs silly. Since when is setting desktop themes or tuning a few sysctls "forking" or worth calling a new OS?
pacija··on America is building chip factories. Now to find the workers
If you build it they will come :)
pacija··on The sticky history of baklava
Here in Serbia, baklava is mostly too sweet for my taste. I prefer another Turkish dessert called tufahija, which is cooked apple with central part with seeds taken out and filled with grinded walnuts and honey, soaked in sugary water and topped with whipped cream.
pacija··on Job Corps: free, residential training and education for low-income young adults
Perhaps. I see it differnetly. I am privileged now with my nice job, back in the day I was just a kid who was trying to become independent adult without proper guidance and support from parents. What I wanted to say is that young adults, regardless of their parent's social and financial status, need guidance and support in order to become independent and productive members of society. I got an impression that some people think that kids whose parents are well-off or rich always get it from their parents, so they are not entitled to get it from other sources (like scholarship, discounted housing, public transit, food, cultural institutions tickets for students etc.). That is not the case.
pacija··on Job Corps: free, residential training and education for low-income young adults
In my early twenties, after dropping out of faculty but before I started working, I was often literally hungry while my parents were not really millionaires, more like quite well-off. I guess they thought keeping fridge constantly empty will make me go out and look for work (I did not until 26, just traveled, couchsurfed and partied around). Ironically, I often ate at my best friend's whose parents were on the edge of poverty, but supported him (and me) with all of little they had.

pacija··on When Emo Conquered the Mainstream
Well, if you can explain how a guy who is married for fifteen years to the same woman, and has two kids with her, is in involuntary celibate, I'd be glad to stand corrected.

pacija··on Turkish presidential candidate quits race after release of alleged deepfake
Nope. Profit is what remains after wages and any other expenses, and is shared between owners or shareholders.
pacija··on Microsoft broke a Chrome feature to promote Edge
ublock to block ads, umatrix to block (by default, with ability to unblock) any resources outside visited domain and its subdomains.
pacija··on Turkish presidential candidate quits race after release of alleged deepfake
Of course not. We are talking about possibility to have businesses who will mostly employ local workers and mostly use local resources, some will maybe even pay fair local taxes, but whose majority of profits will move out of the country. Thus, wealth extraction.
pacija··on Turkish presidential candidate quits race after release of alleged deepfake
I'd say they're betting on their possibility to extract wealth from Turkey, and their bet, with their money on the line, is that Erdogan is bad for their possibility to extract wealth from Turkye.
pacija··on Microsoft broke a Chrome feature to promote Edge
I wold have problem with Lynx on OpenBSD, but Iridium on FreeBSD is quite ok, as long as I add obligatory ublock origin, umatrix and cookie autodelete extensions.
pacija··on Steven Spielberg: ‘No film should be revised’ based on modern sensitivity
Well, over last two decades my mp3s, flacs, avis, mkvs, pdfs, epubs and others moved between CDs, DVDs, HDDs to land at a ZFS array replicated to another ZFS array at the moment. The way I use them has changed over the years (cloud streaming from navidrome, kodi for local playing, azuracast for radio broadcast etc.), but the media files themselves are the same.
