Really? What a great law!
To be clear, I would be fairly optimistic for the "new Inbox" if it weren't for the new GChat interface which worsened my user experience to add a feature, Google+ integration, I don't necessarily want.
From the current docs:
A universal variable is a variable whose value is shared across all instances of fish, now and in the future - even after a reboot. You can make a variable universal with set -U:
> set -U EDITOR vim
Now in another shell:
> echo $EDITOR vim
"We’ve heard people say that RSS is a thing of the past, and perhaps in its current incarnation it is..." I've seen about a dozen posts on HN about Google Reader being retired so RSS readers clearly still appeal to at least this demographic. My girlfriend will also dearly miss Google Reader so it can clearly appeal to non-technical folks as well...
What has replaced RSS readers, Twitter? Facebook? Reddit? As someone who doesn't use social media I would say no. Google Reader is, for me, still the quickest way to get interesting news / information. I don't understand why all the articles state RSS is dead as a fact.
Also anecdotal, but the graphic designers at our company have no problem using Git.
Wishes to ram bicyclists off the road are commonly expressed, and every sweeping generalization is backed up by some anecdotal evidence. MOST of my friends have been hit-and-run by cars at this point (injuries up to a broken arm) and we're not bike punks or teenagers or activists just adults trying to get to work.
Look at the comments in this article too:
"a lot of cyclist do do infuriating, selfish things", "I still find myself enraged at cyclists when I drive", "Get the hell out of my way!", "It becomes enraging when they break traffic laws"
It seems most people behind the wheel of a car, or even bike, become ENRAGED the second they have to tap the breaks a little. People need to relax and see the injurable PEOPLE operating the vehicles around them. Sadly I don't think this article gets to the deeper issue.
Also I feel like this would've ended tragically if it had happened before the age of ubiquitous cell-phones. Imagine being unable to call the police from your car in this situation. Very scary.
:)
Are there any _why-esque guides to Clojure and FP in general like these other languages have? I'm unaware of any and consider it surprising given the Clojure communities passion.
So this is what qualifies as being interesting / cutting edge now huh? I don't know, maybe the article is right...
'He will pull out his gun and kill the poor unsuspecting first soul. After that initial shot someone with a concealed weapons permit is going to blow his brains out...'
I truly hope that maybe we work towards a society where mass shootings aren't a monthly occurrence...
