owebmaster··on Once Claude can measure something, it can make it faster
With a simple trick: make it very slow first
owebmaster··on Claude Code reads AGENTS.md only when telemetry is on [fixed]
telling people Anthropic remote-control their users computers isn't the smartest thing to do
owebmaster··on Stripe's Knowledge AI Platform
It might also suggest they went with the first LLM recommendation, like Anthropic choosing React for Claude Code.
owebmaster··on Netherlands bracing for potentially devastating US sanctions against the ICC
Many of them moved to Argentina and died of old age. Unironically it seems to be the country selected as escape route again.
owebmaster··on Show HN: Radius – A Meetup.com Alternative
I'm doing a meetup app too and my biggest issue have been avoiding spammers, scammers and local criminals abusing the userbase and risking getting myself in legal trouble while not making any profit. What are your thoughts on that?
owebmaster··on Show HN: Cactus Needle 3: 8-29MB automation models can match DeepSeek V4 Flash
It would be clearer if you didn't use AI to reply.
owebmaster··on AI is an elite crime spree
And yet the same don't happen to the rich people doing the same. Which is funny as you ask for exactly that to be the case.
owebmaster··on HEIF Heist: image parser RCE exploit
Is this the new way to go viral ? Registering a domain and vibecode the content
owebmaster··on Don't Just Say Hello
I'd say it's the opposite of politeness in many cases. Some people do it to transfer to you the responsibility of that interaction and/or to bait into stopping what you doing to engage with them.
owebmaster··on Ask HN: Why have we normalized jobs and soft skills bullshit so much?
What soft skill are you talking about? I'd guess communication skills, by the lack of it.
owebmaster··on OpenJev
Why some people keep mentioning this? Isn't LLMs trained and output copyrighted and trademarked content?
owebmaster··on How do we prevent mathemathics from devolving into the Medieval Era of secrecy?
It actually won't. Math/Coding feedback loop is closed and can be automated, most other knowledge work can't.

Automated spreadsheets and PPTs won't get people fired.

owebmaster··on OpenAI's Misalignment Framework: A Tactical Bid to Preempt Global AI Governance
The legal framework already exist: what they did is not legal.
owebmaster··on Ask HN: One month, zero paying customers – keep it or kill it?
Nobody wants to pay even $1 so it seems you don't have a business here. I think you would have the same problem finding users even setting the price to zero.
owebmaster··on Towards Self-Driving Codebases
Is this the "real world software" or a tool that creates "real world software"?
owebmaster··on GLM Built Its Own Inference Infrastructure
Kind of but there's a lot of improvements available to the competitors catching up
owebmaster··on Fed hikes rates as inflation worries push up bond yields
But just one wins elections promising they will reducing it
owebmaster··on The Google Play app review process now regularly takes longer than a week
> Incorrect, see my link. PWA installation on iOS is simple and idiomatic

> Share > Add to Home Screen.

Are you sure "share" is idiomatic here?

Also calling a 6 steps process simple is laughable. One-click prompt to install is simple and part of PWA API that safari doesn't implement.

owebmaster··on Small programming tricks
The post writer is also a person that you attacked for no reason even tho he's not your coworker.
owebmaster··on Small Programming Tricks
There are multiple ways to avoid branches. An early return, a lookup table are two that I use regularly and consider a code smell when the AI uses many if clauses or switches.
owebmaster··on ImpactGate: A merge gate that scores the structural decay AI adds
A sloppy project to find slop in projects. It sure works well
owebmaster··on Devastated father says his 9-year-old son spent $118,000 on YouTube ads
> Everyone in here defending our corporate overlords

Google specifically. The amount of people that "participate" in any thread related to Google posting and upvoting narratives that are good for it is staggering. The ones holding Google accountable are always at the bottom of the threads, flagged.

owebmaster··on AI is breaking our proxies for expertise
AI can't even solve spamming, astroturfing, brigading, green accounts posting ragebait.
owebmaster··on AI is breaking our proxies for expertise
> there any reason to think that capabilities flatline from now?

4 years ago ChatGPT created better slop than current Claude Opus 5. It's a regression: things good objectively worse. You can find multiple threads here or on Reddit about that. Models won't necessarily get better.

owebmaster··on Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking
Most people talking about Gemini quality do so by experience.
owebmaster··on CSS-Tricks in Limbo
That's what going to happen to tailwind too after the acquisition.
owebmaster··on Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously
AI being as bad as the average person in marketing is not good for AI
owebmaster··on Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously
I'm sure it can't. A competent marketer can make good use of it but vibecoders just create slop nobody wants to read.
owebmaster··on Pion, an agent designed to run any company autonomously
Do you really think AI can automate distribution, marketing, sales? That's just spam.
owebmaster··on Don't be the out of touch Kung Fu master
We don't want them to show off, just make public software we can pay and use. What's yours?
