We are starting a company blog and we are putting out content. We have yet to define a company trait.

osdotsystem··on PyCon US 2024 Recap
Really wanted to see the incline, but, did not get around to do it!
osdotsystem··on Show HN: mononames – Over 850k brandable one-word domains at your fingertips
Nice idea!
osdotsystem··on Reflecting on 18 Years at Google
Funny that it mentions the Android team.

Sometimes back I wanted to contribute to Android. It's a source-open product, unfortunately. And development goes on, silently, eerily without as much public docs as I would like!

I hope this fix will help more and more people try it out!
osdotsystem··on We Just Gave $500k to Open Source Maintainers
This piece is just brilliant: "We dedicated 10% of our budget to giving small amounts (in the $4 to $10 per month range) to as many dependencies on GitHub Sponsors as we could. We were able to achieve 95% or greater coverage of our fundable dependencies in our three primary GitHub organizations (getsentry, codecov, and syntaxfm). We were not able to reach 100% because some of our dependencies have minimum sponsorships higher than $10, and a few of our dependencies are maintained by employees. Sentry is the first company to approach 100% coverage of all of our fundable dependencies through GitHub Sponsors. Nobody else even comes close (I asked)."
osdotsystem··on FlaskCon 2023 Call for Proposals
Our guest here has pretty good eyes, say David. First one to ask about it.
osdotsystem··on FlaskCon 2023 Call for Proposals
That's the old Flask logo. Flask changed to a new logo: https://flask.palletsprojects.com/en/3.0.x/
osdotsystem··on FlaskCon 2023 Call for Proposals
FlaskCon is a conference dedicated to the Flask web framework.

This year it is remote, and so, open to the whole world.

The call proposal is open till the end of October.

You can:

- submit talks [ https://flaskcon.com/2023/ ] or - sponsor the conference [ https://flaskcon.com/2023/become-sponsor ] or - donate to the Pallets [ https://psfmember.org/civicrm/contribute/transact/?reset=1&i... ]

The conference is free for attendees and will be broadcast live on YouTube.

osdotsystem··on Show HN: I created a shell like website in plain JavaScript
Nice potential for a teaching tool!
osdotsystem··on Releasing My Python Web Masterclass Course for Free
Backstory: Spent months writing this course for a platform when it got canceled midway. Releasing it for the community.

Since i like the topics, regular updates are planned on topics i encounter.

A special thought for people who want to get into tech.

Leave your thoughts below.

That's a new HN tag
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
Thank you for the resources and insights. H2 is a great implementation!
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
I added the download if display broken, beacause yes, it needs fixing on phone
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
The one i gave in person (more energetic) is lost forever, but, the one i gave to the LibSQL community is up and online:

Edit: The book has more info.

osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
See the co-recursive podcast episode in the references section. It is Adam's words but, i find it reasonably describing the whole attitude.
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
I am open! Since new material is constantly being added, feel free to bookmark it and check in about a week. You can also raise a pull request!
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
Just a note that DRH's doctorate was in computational linguistics. This is reflected on SQLite in the sense that the part he likes working on the most is the front-end as opposed to features like concurrency for example. So, i guess a deep dive into the topic is required.

What the above comments showed in terms of what is taught at unis seem to be great starting points. Since he already knew classical stack-based VMs from the start, this maybe shows he learnt it at uni. Would love to ask him about it!

osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
Oh i wrote the book ^^, that's why.
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
Great that you like it! I guess when typing fast and the mind is dazed, errors crop up. Re-reading i saw i wrote piece of mind instead of peace of mind. Thanks for the kind words!
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
If you read reference [10] on the book, he says he did not release the source of the editor.
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
@samwillis, It is converted from notes i wrote, from a presentation i gave. This did not start as a book. Yes you are right, i did not pass this through chatGPT.
osdotsystem··on SQLite internals: How the most-used database works
Thank you for the feedback. It is pulled from my notes and is an ongoing book aimed towards contribution to the project. I did not yet pass some spellchecks on it. The book is OpenSource though and you can have a go at improving sections.

I would really appreciate making the material available to a wider audience.

I am the author, no it was written by a human!
