orschiro··on UN report lays bare the waste of treating homes as commodities
Homes are such a critical resource. While other resources are passed down the stream from the rich to the poor — see for example food leftovers (waste) — this is not the case for homes. They remain where they are and don't easily change ownership.
orschiro··on UN report lays bare the waste of treating homes as commodities
Hang on, wasn't the point of the article that there are many empty buildings due to speculations of their owners on the financial markets?

Does anyone else work at a standing desk?
orschiro··on The psychological importance of wasting time
Decluttering is the keyword for me. Rethinking what I am consuming, how and what the effects of its consumption are, i.e. what do I do with what I consume? Do I share it? Do I digest it? Do I make something based on it?

What's the advantage over exporting my Chrome Bookmarks as HTML?

orschiro··on Show HN: Kobble – Notes app that saves directly to GitHub

What versions are you working on?

What do I generally need to use this?

A web browser? Git? Github? A Markdown Linux editor?

I would love some further explanation!

Doesn't any distro do the job on which you can install proprietary graphic drivers and Steam?
orschiro··on Hackpad shutting down
I, for instance, use https://hackmd.io/ to quickly create a note and share it with other collaborators. This is very useful.

orschiro··on Ask HN: Can I upvote submissions while offline?
Thanks!
orschiro··on Ask HN: Can I upvote submissions while offline?
That is exactly my question if there is a way to schedule offline actions (such as voting) and then release them when online again.
orschiro··on Ask HN: Can I upvote submissions while offline?
I don't know. It just doesn't. If I vote offline, go online and then refresh the page, I can see that it did not count the votes.
orschiro··on Ask HN: How has volunteering helped you grow?
If I really feel a connection (hard to describe) to a project, or to its people, I do not mind the money and do it for free.
orschiro··on Ask HN: Can I upvote submissions while offline?
No, I am technically not skilled enough to do that. :-(
orschiro··on Ask HN: Your favourite human-sounding read aloud system?
Thank you for your explanation. In this case, I will stick to the Chrome extension mentioned in my first comment here which allows easier integration into reading online articles. :-)
orschiro··on Ask HN: Can I upvote submissions while offline?
For me, it does not work in Chrome. The votes are not shown is counted if I reload HN.
orschiro··on Ask HN: Your favourite human-sounding read aloud system?
Can you integrate it into your web browser to read aloud online articles?
orschiro··on Emacs 25.2 released
Emacs and VIM are probably those two software pieces that to me look like from another era that I have not lived through and thus cannot get my head around.
orschiro··on The relationship between social media use and well-being
For me, Facebook is the new yellow pages telephone book that contains all addresses to people I may want to contact. That's about it. I do not see any other value in Facebook.
