What about the animals that have been domesticated to be pets? It's arguable that their native habitat is the home at this point. Although, I do hope we stop capturing the animals which aren't domesticated (most "exotic" pets).
I think what happened was that it became his full time job, and he started to need to be able to make money from it. At least, that's what I remember; I haven't seen much about it as of late.

I suppose it is how this kind of tool generally works. I think it's just some subset of the feeling I get when someone writes(implements?) $LANGUAGE in $LANGUAGE(e.g. brainf*ck in brainf*ck)

I have to mention Robert L. Forward’s Dragon Egg—it explores life on a white dwarf with nuclear reactions instead of chemical ones. Not the best book, IMHO, but a fun thought to entertain.
