I feel like esports have the potential to be enormous but won't reach that until standard formats are established. I'm thinking some FIFA, FIA, IOC, etc., -type group releasing spec sheets and FOSS client/server implementations that developers then port into their own engines. The idea being that the barrier to entry is so low that anyone can experience the game. It's not a coincidence that the most popular sport in the world is also the most accessible.
This is usually the part of the HN comment where I plug my startup that solves the exact problem, but sadly that's not the case today.
Half the top comments on this very thread decry DEI efforts while calling this wrong without the slightest hint of irony.
If we accept this as true, fields dominated by women should receive the same grace.

Any discussion on the basis of "X will solve Y" or "X will most likely NOT solve Y" predictably spirals on and on because the parties chose hypothetical claims that can't be falsified so it's easier to play with semantics and pretend the other doesn't get it yet.

Despite being large, it was still an isolated incedent compared to the multi-chain heist one could pull off with a 51% attack on a single chain.
I don’t doubt that they could move the money but their bigger problem is a single misstep between the wallet and a bank account immediately putting an end to the scheme.
I do think the exploiter takes the $10M deal. As it stands, attempting to cash any amount out is somewhere between very dumb and life-threatening.

Front page of HN today: Why Web3 is a scam and has zero real world use cases beside grifting.
Surely this is getting old? Can we get an article about Ethereum straying from it’s mission of accessibility? About “low-fee” blockchains consistently grinding under load?
If blockchains are low bandwidth by nature how can the DeFi movement claim to be the future of finance? Do large VC allocations of projects purporting to be infrastructure threaten the future legitimacy of Web3? I don’t know, but it seems the only people that care about these questions are the frauds and suckers referred to in the article.

And how easy do you think that is in Kenya?
You and I being able to take stable banking and government for granted says more about our own position in the world than it does about the efficacy of the technology itself.
So it's save money by colluding on aid calculations or save money by picking wealthy applicants, and explicitly not both.
Is this why I can’t change the volume on a Google Home speaker group anymore?
