okramcivokram··on The Dec 21, 2020 Conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn
13.jpg [1] is the Lagoon nebula [2] and the Trifid nebula [3]

12.jpg [4] and 17.jpg [5] are still in the queue.

okramcivokram··on Oculus Quest 2
I also have a Quest and I can tell you that for me there was absolutely no value in social stuff.
okramcivokram··on The Galaksija computer was a craze in 1980s Yugoslavia
There's a great talk about it that also has more technical details on CCC: The ultimate Galaksija talk [1]

okramcivokram··on A good dictionary is created by puppeteer
This appears to be just a scrapper of dictionary.cambridge.org . Seems pretty pointless to me.
okramcivokram··on What Are Spomeniks?
I think his invented English word "Spomeniks" is supposed to uniquely refer to the particular monuments, not our general word "spomenik".
okramcivokram··on Rewriting the heart of our sync engine
Looks like a construction crane arm to me. Filename is `Infrastructure-3-1440x305px-light.png` so most likely a stock or free image, just ran through ascii-art filter.

Hint, open the file directly, zoom out a bit, and squint.

okramcivokram··on Astronomers report most distant blazar ever observed
Yes, I also noticed that. I think it should be either "not within -> not easily recognizable" or "within -> easily recognizable".
okramcivokram··on Cairo Desktop Environment
Cairo is a customizable, intuitive desktop environment for Windows.

Cairo requires Windows 7 or later, including Windows 10, and .NET 4.7.1 or later (already included with Windows 10 1709 and newer)

Looks like it's a alternative windows shell, and not a cross platform Desktop Environment like KDE/GNOME etc.

okramcivokram··on Ask HN: Successful one-person online businesses?
I was also curious so I've taken a look at it (but not in detail) and it looks to me like it sends what you type to the server that generates an image in real-time using the font, so you don't have the font itself, just what it's going to look like with your text.
okramcivokram··on Ask HN: Successful one-person online businesses?
(not a designer) I would not start my 7-day free trial without beforehand having more information on what the product looks and feels like.

In the "How FontPeek Helps" section there's "Show your fonts" sections, but it shows no fonts. I'd love to see some demo fonts/pages with embedded fonts at least, perhaps a list of links to the designer's websites showing the widget (I assume it's a widget, there's no info on it) if they consent.

okramcivokram··on Pizza Hut’s First Website
Yeah, I'm getting redirected to the current website too. You can see the page archived here: http://archive.is/https://www.pizzahut.com/assets/pizzanet/h...
okramcivokram··on Rich Hickey on Datomic (2012) [video]
I think if it ever happens it'll be Eclipse Public License 1.0 like everything else clojure.
okramcivokram··on WWLLN – The World Wide Lightning Location Network
There's also https://www.lightningmaps.org / http://blitzortung.org . It uses the same TOGA method and you can be a part of the network.
okramcivokram··on Google Chrome has become surveillance software. It’s time to switch
Also, there's `firefox -P <profile>`.
okramcivokram··on I Nearly Lost All of My Data
Even if it does, isn't Syncthing traffic encrypted. Also, 'they' would need to spoof your other syncthing node for the first one to start syncing with it, and if they have that much info, you've already lost.
okramcivokram··on Ascii Art Generator
Looks like it's chess symbols, by Michel Eftimakis. See the raw font: https://github.com/xero/figlet-fonts/blob/master/eftichess.f...
okramcivokram··on Show HN: Genact – A nonsense activity generator
Check out http://geektyper.com/ It's a collection of several 'hacking tools' that look dramatic on screen.
okramcivokram··on The Future of RethinkDB
There's a transcript on the bottom of the page (on mobile).
okramcivokram··on Show HN: Tello, a simple way to manage TV shows – built with React/Redux
Looks nice, there's a slight bug on the calendar view, see https://imgur.com/d3JJsNd (take a look how "Majority Rule" behaves when switching weeks)

I'd like to see a page with a countdown to next episode air time for all shows, like a reverse timeline.

okramcivokram··on Show HN: Chirr App splits text into tweets and posts it as a thread
The numbering is broken when using the manual splitter, see http://imgur.com/a/HcHZd

okramcivokram··on Introducing FreeNAS Corral
It's described a bit in the video [1] they seem to use VMs as docker hosts.

okramcivokram··on Angry Programmers (2013)
> If someone was to go through and by themselves solve every little problem associated with radar and build a microwave-based radar system I'd be really fucking impressed.

okramcivokram··on Is Clojure an acceptable Lisp? [video]
First 25 minutes of this talk is mostly about common lisp, only the last 5 minutes about clojure.
okramcivokram··on The Joy of Linux Desktop Environments
If app is removed, are all the relevant dotfiles removed?
okramcivokram··on Coding Challenge for MI5
That is most likely just a hint, or misdirection. I'd be greatly disappointed if it's not a multi layered puzzle.
okramcivokram··on Redis 3.2.0 is out
I've used GeoNames (geonames.org) for a few projects.
okramcivokram··on Lessons from Building a Node App in Docker
I'm solving this problem by having a `dev` container with make, gcc, g++, python, and nodemon included and which is then used to install node_modules with `ENV NODE_ENV dev` set. When I'm ready to deploy, the node_modules gets deleted, installed in production mode and a production container gets built. For dev container, node_modules is a volume, and it gets copied into production container so it's self-contained.
okramcivokram··on Lessons from Building a Node App in Docker
If the image size is your primary concern, there are many alpine linux images which excel at this, for example: https://github.com/mhart/alpine-node
okramcivokram··on Kubernetes local development cluster in one command
It looks like all the commands from that page put into a single script to be easier to use.
