It’s a shame, really, because it likely prevents a lot of good discussion that would take place if everyone could read the linked content.
Is hn open source? If so, I’d love to try and contribute something perhaps that would allow users to filter out stories with a user-managed url blacklist. Seems like a reasonably simple solution. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the info regardless; I’ll refrain from complaining about paywalls from here on out (although, to be fair, this wasn’t a blanket complaint about paywalls; I’d asked if there was some type of filter I didn’t know about and proposed a possible solution).
>Thanks for sharing your experience with our new formatting UI. I'm sorry to hear it's been a little disruptive so far. There isn't a way to revert to the old formatting method, I'm afraid. We don't currently have plans to make the new formatting configurable though we are carefully considering all our customers' feedback.
Seems like it’s becoming another dark pattern whereby developers are forcing their decisions on users a la Chrome not allowing developers to disable the browsers built-in autofill.
Very interesting idea - many thanks!
I’m building out an app and we receive documents from all kinds of vendors from all over the country. The app is for our business to manage our client data. I was hoping to find a list of business I could throw in the db rather then piecemeal add the addresses in one by one as the documents come in.
I looked at some of the data service providers (infoUsa I think was one and d&b being another), but one dataset for just business names and addresses they were asking $50,000 for. I think my use-case is unique in that these companies typically sell this data as sales lead data which it definitely is not in my case (we don’t even sell b2b).
Anyone know of anything like this? I suppose I could just scrape phone books but I think if I can’t find the data we will just resort to one by one entry.

Thanks for the outline link.
What it offers, though — in the only way I know how to describe — is an alternative perspective. It’s like stepping outside of your usual self and evaluating things from an almost objective and completely different point of view. It’s this perspective that allows for revelations that otherwise wouldn’t happen in a sober state. This is a result of physiology and the chemical interactions in the brain due to ingestion of the substance.
It’s quite an amazing experience. Sometimes it can be scary, or odd or just funny. But in my experience, it has led to some very profound experiences and insights.
