nxpnsv··on How AI gave me my voice back – an artist's review of Suno Studio
Not AI, suno.
nxpnsv··on uBlock Origin Lite in Apple App Store
Yeah, the ad situation really is so horrible it is worth paying to get out of it. Also supporting an inde dev to provide a useful app with the equivalent of a nice cup of coffee doesn't feel all that bad.
nxpnsv··on AWS multiple services outage in us-east-1
Cheaper, faster, in house people understands what’s going on. It should be a given for many services but somehow it’s not.
nxpnsv··on AWS multiple services outage in us-east-1
Life indeed is a struggle
nxpnsv··on How I'm using Helix editor
1. hx is fast to start, and fast to use, it looks pretty too 2. the defaults are pretty good, i added a few bits and bobs, but customizing hx is not a way of life for me. emacs and neovim had me stuck in endless improvement loops... 3. tui works great on remote servers, it is nice to have the same setup on my mac, linux, and server. sure other editors does that too but also hx. 4. i got all the lsp i need. arguably getting my languages.toml setup was more fiddly than I wanted. In practice I found getting the setup right on other editors also was a bit of a chrore though.
nxpnsv··on Microsoft only lets you opt out of AI photo scanning 3x a year
I don't understand how america works, but surely Microsoft isn't paid for data requested by whatever agency?
nxpnsv··on Why it took 4 years to get a lock files specification
Rye was already pretty good before it was donated to astral and renamed to uv though...
nxpnsv··on Python 3.14 is here. How fast is it?
Because they knew you would…
nxpnsv··on Two things LLM coding agents are still bad at
Exactly, I think the takeaway is that being careful when formulating a task is essential with LLMs. They make errors that wouldn’t be expected when asking the same from a person.
nxpnsv··on Two things LLM coding agents are still bad at
Codex has got me a few times lately, doing what I asked but certainly not what I intended:

- Get rid of these warnings "...": captures and silences warnings instead of fixing them - Update this unit test to relfect the changes "...": changes the code so the outdated test works - The argument passed is now wrong: catches the exception instead of fixing the argument

My advice is to prefer small changes and read everything it does before accepting anything, often this means using the agent actually is slower than just coding...

nxpnsv··on Two things LLM coding agents are still bad at
Agree, this is really bad.
nxpnsv··on Learn to play Go
My son and I just did the first collection of lessons. The Swedish translation isn't perfect, but he understood and enjoyed it immensely. Well done, I might have to buy a board now :)
nxpnsv··on Testing the Raspberry Pi 500+'s new mechanical keyboard
That's pretty cool!
nxpnsv··on I built and launched the first AirPods-Controlled Game
Fun idea!
nxpnsv··on Typst: A Possible LaTeX Replacement
I do care how my things look, I've written books, papers, reports, CVs, slides and posters (the last two was admittedly painful). I think I reacted to a very dismissive tone towards LaTeX from typst fanboys who cannot imagine why someone would still use LaTeX, but thinking about it - I don't like the tone of my message either so I'll delete it.

nxpnsv··on Show HN: Dreamtap – Make your AI more creative
I remember that once there was a site that added random words to your google search to unbubble you / make your results more interesting, this feels similar. Anybody remeber that thing?
nxpnsv··on ChatGPT Pulse
What a nightmare...
nxpnsv··on You’re a slow thinker. Now what?
Well, at least the author is thinking, and that's great...
nxpnsv··on iPhone Air
Agree, the 4 was great (except the home button which broke).
nxpnsv··on PlateShapez – Tool for generating adversarially perturbed license plate overlays
I guess benn jordan assumed you would watch the video on yt before finding the repo
nxpnsv··on AI coding made me faster, but I can't code to music anymore
they can't hear if it is them or music on my phones...
nxpnsv··on AI coding made me faster, but I can't code to music anymore
If the price is music, then it’s too expensive.
nxpnsv··on Left to Right Programming
Thanks!
nxpnsv··on Left to Right Programming
Probably not, I didn’t use R much during the last decade …
nxpnsv··on Left to Right Programming
Neat!
nxpnsv··on Left to Right Programming
I don't know if

   result = (df
      .pipe(fun1, arg1=1)
      .pipe(fun2, arg2=2)
   )
is much less readable than

   result <- df |>
      fun1(., arg1=1) |>
      fun2(., arg2=2)
but I guess the R thing also works beyond dataframes which is pretty cool
nxpnsv··on The Weight of a Cell
Coffee specific scales typically are around 0.1g accurate. They are a little more expensive, but certainly not unobtainable.
nxpnsv··on Lördagsgodis (Saturday Sweets)
I think it mostly isn’t great amounts…
nxpnsv··on Lördagsgodis (Saturday Sweets)
As a swedish parent i see most parents still restrict kids candy only on Saturday. And parents rarely give their kids sodas and never vapes. Perhaps my observation would differ if my kids were in their later teens…
