You are correct. And when they try to undermine you they prove your point. There are more mtf people than ftm people because until recently, the it was not a trend among teen girls.

Liberals can also be authoritarian. See reddit, where ideas that don't conform are typically downvoted out. Here too.

1. I am not saying people are playing outside at the same levels. 2. I live in the rust belt and don't need to be told what I see is fearmongering. I have been personally affected by it.

No Such Thing as Bad Weather by Linda McGurk

I read this book in school and it's about this difference between Europe / Scandinavia and a rural part of Indiana

I'm not saying kids don't play outside, just that the violence is why some parents fear it. I agree the internet makes this fear worse but frankly, EVEN ONE CRIME is scary enough if you ask me

A 26 year old girl was set on fire in Chicago public transportation. It's really unforgiveable to me when people then say I'm "fearmongering"

Yes, I fear being attacked on public transport!

Could not have said it better. The harm these apps are doing is so immense. Why form any hobby at all when you can scroll four hours of tik tok a day?

That's the spirit. Gotta get that ad revenue.

Absolutely second this, and I am part of the younger generation. Technology is isolating. Social media feeds superficial relationships. The anxiety it creates is so worrying.

Where are you from? Sweden? Denmark? Fun fact for Europe: America is quite a dangerous country. At the very least, this is why parents fear the outdoors. And much of our nature is polluted. There are cases of this. I agree it's wrong, but it's good to understand the background.

And as far as the internet: I am part of the younger generation and I welcome this change. I see how it affects my generation every day.

Not just mental health: ability to concentrate + engagement with people around us.

It's not cynical, and even if it doesn't apply here, the truth is it's frequently the case. I agree it's wrong to generalize and to oversimplify but it's also wrong to ignore the role that wealth and proximity to information play in a person's life. (Again, not saying that's the case here. The title is asking for this discussion. And frankly why can't people express this view?)

Proximity to some of the country's best high schools, universities, and the people who work there, as well as some of the most unique industries in the country, could have played a role. In other places, if not most, people don't even know these things exist. Everyone has the internet, sure, and anyone from anywhere can learn about anything, but it's hard to compete with people who encountered useful/the right information early in life.

It doesn't "seem," it "is."

Manipulate isn't the right word in regards to Twitter. So they wanted a social media with less bias. Why is that so wrong? Not saying Twitter now lacks bias. I am saying it's not manipulation to want sites that don't enforce groupthink.

There are clueless people from many places, not just the US. Europeans refer to Asia as Asia. Is that a problem too?

Strictly speaking, Finland is nordic, not scandinavian. And their language is entirely different. I was under the impression Fins and Estonians are happy when people try to learn. Am I wrong?

Finnish people are probably nice when people try to learn their language. Hahaha. Can't say that about the other places.

Why do you think those people behave that way?

I read American and European news every day. I live in a relatively poor large American city. I continue to believe both sides show similar corruptness.
