Not even that, people like to post random Wikipedia articles with no context for the free internet points... I don't even know why HN allows Wikipedia links as posts.

> 46x faster than windirstat

Thats a pretty bold claim, but is it really that much faster?

And they're all e-waste nuggets sitting in dankpods' storage closet... :)

The iPod was a product in an interesting time... if you ignore the screen, a modern mp3 player could be made as small as a SD card... as soon as you add the screen, you need a full operating system to manage files and run the screen. Nobody wants to put the effort into something that's going to be as basic as a mp3 player.

What even is this? A Linux distro? A text messaging service? An openclaw harness? The readme is such a mess.

Thats kindof complicated... I remember when an EMR only needed one sysadmin and no specialist knowledge... on our old system any errors were handled by the vendor.

I know a caboodle/cache admin at $dayjob, and I've never heard them mention chronicles... is it more of an internal codename than an actual function of the db?

I'm a little confused about why there is an ongoing fee... unless someone didn't pay for the fibre pull upfront.

Huh. It looks like they're actually getting rid of their as400 hosting... I wonder what that would have cost, being the only players in the game...

I'll admit that "OS snob who just wants to run VMS because they once ran it on Alpha" is pretty low on the freebie list, but they didn't even say no, they just strung me along until I gave up caring.

I'm still waiting on mine, I doubt I'll ever see it though...

I hope there is a part 2, where they make sure the internet can't access their management interfaces...

The only problem I have with these tutorials is that they're already outdated... I don't think anyone covers kicad 10 yet, and its quite a bit different than 9. (Individual dialogs might not have changed, but where they're located etc might have)

Can confirm, I've got a pi 5 here that's been running 24/7 for over a year (possibly two)... it boots fine, but anything else makes it run so slowly because the sdcard is trashed.

The current setup writes to the systemd journal at least twice every minute... It's next iteration is getting a proper nvme.

The fact that a firmware upgrade bricked the camera doesn't bode well for their other products...

Technically the only difference between a tv and a monitor is an rf demodulator, and maybe speakers... and modern tv's can have neither (rf mostly died when tv went digital unless you're an OTA diehard), so there really isn't much of a reason for the split.

I've noticed that pressed discs work better than burned discs, but thats what backups are for... assuming you can get a working original that is...

As a Canuck, let me say sorry for having so many trees and not enough firefighters, for a second year in a row... at least we have to huff this stuff in before it gets to you, right?

> ... WinBox (which to my surprise is now cross-platform, and works quite well on Macs)

Winbox having a Linux and Mac version is really nice... I'll have to try the Linux one at some point... hopefully it works as good as the Windows version did under wine.

Spending 45 minutes to download a cd, only for it to turn into a 400mb pile of garbled noise, wasn't exactly joy.

No, not on that phone...

I thought they were talking about krokodil, but nope... I've literally never heard of 7-oh.

I use twitch almost every day, its notifications are usually off by 10-15 minutes... /shrug

> unreliable background operation on android

Pretty much every app I have has delayed notifications, and no matter of battery optimization settings can fix it.

Forest fire in northern Ontario... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/evacuation-orders...

I believe some clients (dhcpcd, networkd) also do the check on their side, so it's possible that they reject the lease and ask for a new one if it's in use.

We've known for years that ticketmaster scams their tickets on StubHub. Concerts selling out instantly, to only see tons of tickets on stub...

I'm sure if they get shut down, they'll just do it again under a different name, but they can't pretend it's a small handful of scalpers when they're the ones doing it themselves.

At least yours still works, they took out the ability to use the sensor on my s5 some years ago... one random app upgrade and they just decided nope.

50 packets a day is peanuts, I think the lowest ranking service group that I track is printers, and even that's around ~200 unique ips per day.

Stealing one of my older comments...

> I know someone who tried the "aibot plays pokemon" thing... From what I saw, even if you frame advance every single frame, they still don't seem to grasp the concept of "I need to hold down this button for a few frames until x happens"...

> There's no concept of time, just a never ending state machine thats constantly changing state.
