ntp85··on Everything Is Chrome
Yes, I've actually been using Zen for a while now and even donated to the project as it seems a pretty worthwhile (and necessary) competitor.
ntp85··on A free and open internet shouldn't come at the expense of privacy
Seems like NOYB already filed a complaint with the Austrian data protection authorities: https://www.heise.de/en/news/Data-protection-complaint-Noyb-...
ntp85··on Mozilla introduces updates to tab management in Firefox
OP might refer to tab grouping being readily available in Chrome whereas Firefox requires additional add-ons for it.
ntp85··on Jack Dorsey Leaves Bluesky Board and Calls X 'Freedom Technology'
Right, because "don't contradict X" is much better than "don't contradict Y"...
ntp85··on Not setting up Find My bricked my MacBook
Broken, as in physically broken? Sure, but that can be fixed/repaired if it's not beyond any hope of that.

Broken, as in "the software is broken"? Well, at least all my devices are repairable, if that happens. Even if it might require the nuclear option of reinstalling/reflashing. But at least there are no shenanigangs such as these and the ones OP described happening.

ntp85··on Thunderbird 115
It might not be sane by any means, but here are the current release candidates: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/candidates/115.0-can...
ntp85··on Google is about to make life more difficult for custom ROM fans
Ah, a fellow /e/ user. While I completely agree with you concerning dialer and SMS apps, the mentioned SafetyNet restrictions from the article could be causing problems in the future as many apps, especially banking apps, potentially rely on those.
ntp85··on Firefox Android now supports Tampermonkey
The extension has fortunately been forked: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/istilldontcar...
ntp85··on Microsoft Azure Outage
Same here in Germany. Even microsoft.com times out at the moment.
ntp85··on Is Dark Mode Good for Your Eyes? (2020)
Which, to be honest, is just a more contrived way of saying "I know this is true and I don't need researchers telling me otherwise". It is only anecdotal evidence in any case.
ntp85··on Companies ran an experiment: Pay workers their full salary to work fewer days
Yeah, but Fire fighting for 4 days > Fire fighting for 5 days.
ntp85··on UN says “No credible pathway” and “woefully inadequate” to stop global 1.5C
The parent comment was about a knee-capped economy which would also affect the rich, wouldn't it?
ntp85··on UN says “No credible pathway” and “woefully inadequate” to stop global 1.5C
Isn't it common sense that the wealthy are the ones who produce / emit the most CO2? Maybe I'm missing the point here, but I can't understand how poverty is the worst thing for the environment seeing that it restricts consumption.
ntp85··on Dear JetBrains, Don't mess with your UI
"Remote development" does not necessarily imply that development happens on a remote machine. I use remote development extensions to work directly on projects inside WSL2.
ntp85··on Tim Cook's response to Android texting compatibility: 'buy your mom an iPhone'
Be that as it may, as opposed to the brand of shoes they (or their parents) bought, there is something that can be done to prevent this bullying at least.
ntp85··on France is now offering a €4k e-bike subsidy to people who trade in their car
This is exactly what we (my family and me) do. We don't currently own a car and don't plan on buying one but instead use our Babboe Big-E as mentioned. If we - on some rare occasion - require a car/van I can rent one rather cheaply from the local car sharing initiative, called StattAuto.
ntp85··on An Ubuntu kernel bug causes container crashes
There is indeed a Fedora Server: https://getfedora.org/en/server/
ntp85··on Brave Search Goggles: Alter search rankings with rules and filters
This might seem out of proportion. OTOH this contextual information makes the motivation to create this tool a lot more transparent, imho of course.
ntp85··on SpaceX said to fire employees involved in letter rebuking Elon Musk
Early dementia or Alzheimers?
ntp85··on Protecting Against Browser-Language Fingerprinting
Using a common household internet access here in Germany, i.e. consumer level, one gets assigned a new IP roughly every 24 hours.
ntp85··on Toyota owners have to pay $8/month to keep using their key fob for remote start
"You're holding it wrong"
ntp85··on Firefox is the alternative to a Chrome hegemony
Did it also delete your containers by chance? That is, if you have set any up.

This drives me up the wall. At certain, irregular intervals Firefox loses my configured multi-account containers - except for those provided by an extension, e.g. Amazon Container.

ntp85··on Goodbye Brave
Is this also true for Debian-based distributions? Anyways, users on Mac and Windows usually download Firefox directly from Mozilla and are therefore affected by the aforementioned telemetry.

Seeing the market share of Desktop Linux I'd hazard a guess that those users are in the majority.

ntp85··on Firefox is the alternative to a Chrome hegemony
Weird, there's 'legacy' right there in the name. I wouldn't be surprised if that feature gets removed at some point.
ntp85··on Colorado 'solar garden' is a farm under solar panels
This is fundamentally wrong on so many levels.

Let's just pretend you would have any resemblance of a point there: Firstly, renewables are much cheaper than fossil or nuclear power - both in construction and operation. Secondly, the surging electricity prices, at least speaking for Germany here, are a result of the idiotic "EEG-Umlage".

ntp85··on Webamp IPFS media player
What incentive should they have to make Safari a capable browser? Who would profit when developers can build PWAs instead of paying the Apple Tax?
ntp85··on Firefox 94
But the foundation is not responsible for Firefox development, isn't it? It's the corporation which can't be supported through donations iirc.
ntp85··on Tesla opens charging network to other EVs for the first time
Most, if not all, bakeries in my vicinity allow card payments. Even the small, owner operated bakery a few blocks downtown.

I know, purely anecdotal. But it goes to show that we Germans maybe aren't as backwards-thinking ;)

ntp85··on Google sets burial date for legacy Chrome Extensions, fears for ad-blockers grow
So do I. The UI also looks pretty good on GNOME.
ntp85··on Brave Search beta
Thanks, that's a good point. BAT and the associated concept of rewarding content creators or Brave Search could be seen as contributions to the world as well, I think.
