notsound··on Sweden and Finland agree to submit NATO applications
I guess Putin got payed a lot of money to start this war.
notsound··on Bytes of CSS to look great everywhere (updated for 2022)
This is so useful.

What is the license? I’m not entirely sure if copyright would apply, but it would still be useful information.

notsound··on How to pull images from satellites in orbit
The sequel to this video: https://youtu.be/jGWFg7EDnyY

The Thought Emporium makes really high quality content. He does a lot of things, most recently covering things in metal, but in the past they have made videos on gene editing, growing opals, and making holograms. It’s a lot of different topics, all presented very well.

notsound··on Ask HN: Why can't cloud providers offer a prepay option?
I definitely phrased my original comment wrong. Cloud providers do charge for basically everything. However, the charges are much smaller that fees on most blockchains. ETH gas fees are a good example of what I mean, although they are absurdly high compared to other blockchains.
notsound··on Ask HN: Why can't cloud providers offer a prepay option?
Working with centralized technologies is much easier than working with the blockchain. Additionally, web3 is not very advanced for its costs. Needing to pay money (even a fraction of a cent) to do basically anything is not a compelling model, especially considering that most of the “fast” blockchains still take a couple of seconds to do anything.
notsound··on The ASF Infrastructure team introduces phone service
Phone numbers (including vanity ones) are surprisingly cheap. About $1/month on twilio and less on other providers.
notsound··on Cloudflare Rufuses to Exit Russian Market
I would like to point out that Cloudflare leaving Russia would cause some of those former customers to use DDOS-guard instead. DDOS-guard is a Russian company, and would almost certainly be nicer to Moscow than Cloudflare.
notsound··on Ask HN: Why isn't there a Google competitor emerging?
The main reason a lot of people use DDG is privacy, not uncensored search results. I do think that this move could have been handled better.
