notfromhere··on Cognition launches new SWE-2 model, Rivaling Fable 5.1 and GPT-Astra
This really just exists so cognition can stop spending API tokens with Anthropic or OpenAI.

Basically any successful AI based service will do this because at scale the frontier models are expensive and you’ll have enough data to fine tune your own.

Same reason Harvey is doing models now and basically every other provider

Well the models did get better but yeah their early product was godawful
notfromhere··on WeatherNext 3
its nowhere near as good as it was in Dark Sky. the apple weather app is pretty bad where I'm at.
notfromhere··on Apple Is Suddenly an AI Infra Stock as OpenAI Buys 10k+ Macs
Aren't they used doing this so they can generate training data for using Macs via the UI with computer use?
notfromhere··on Understanding ChatGPT Work
Sol Light on computer use is fantastic. I use it whenever I need to dive deep into whatever shitty web saas app menu if the API is unavailable
notfromhere··on Twitter: The square is back. And this time, it's yours
If your standard for free speech is “my side gets to question propaganda, but the other side’s worst posts prove the platform is biased,” that’s not a free speech principle.
notfromhere··on Claude writing a macOS driver for my obscure HP printer built only for Windows
LLMs seem to be trained to work very well against a goal, especially one it can verify against. I guess because it can easily know if it passed or failed, va other tasks where good/bad output is subjective
notfromhere··on Patterns and problems in emerging multi-agent systems
It’s hard to manage because it’s not intelligent in a predictable way. More like a genius toddler
notfromhere··on DeepSeek peak/off-peak pricing update
I have seen a lot of companies start with this, then when they hit 150 users on their team plan and start having to pay API rates they immediately start introducing other models.
notfromhere··on DeepSeek peak/off-peak pricing update
You should be running your agent in a box so that’s not really a risk
notfromhere··on Accelerating GPT-5.6 Sol Ultrafast
Anything will be fast if you etch it straight to silicon
notfromhere··on Grok 4.6 scores 61 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index
Might be his commitment to fascism across the western world
notfromhere··on Poland now 6th-largest EU economy, ahead of Switzerland and Belgium
That example is a good reason nominal GDP has limits on what it can measure, as a drive thru Mississippi would show a poor state with small pockets of wealth
notfromhere··on ChatGPT starts blocking direct requests to copy an author's style
Gee maybe building a business on top of mass ip theft might have consequences
notfromhere··on DeepMind's WeatherNext model achieves breakthrough forecasting cyclones
planes fly above the weather, so kinda irrelevant. you can cross the atlantic fast with something like the Concorde
notfromhere··on U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, a sudden reversal
yeah but the size of the us healthcare sector (like 18%) is a policy choice, other developed countries have theirs at 10-12%.

U.S. healthcare is a giant predatory clusterfuck and seems impossible to meaningfully reform.

notfromhere··on Qwen3.8 Max now ranked as the best overall model by agentic index
I think it’s just where they focused RLHF resources. The models have generally only gotten worse at writing.

And writing doesn’t have validators like code so you can’t really scale it in the same way

notfromhere··on US beef prices have soared but farmers aren't making more money
A lot of these markets aren't really functioning when there are many middlemen that have an 2-4 company oligopoly that choke out any actual competition.

Many markets don't really have 'competition'

notfromhere··on US beef prices have soared but farmers aren't making more money
Its meat processors having a monopoly.
notfromhere··on U.S. debt-to-GDP ratio reaches 123%
No they wouldn’t. A balanced budget would be incredibly unpopular with everyone as you’d have to raise taxes and cut spending.
notfromhere··on U.S. debt-to-GDP ratio reaches 123%
The problem is that half the political system thinks you can cut taxes and grow revenues.

Which is an intentional strategy to repeal social programs that they’d never get the votes to do so via legislation

notfromhere··on AI's top startups are barely publishing their research
It’s funny because no frontier labs would exist if the Google transformer paper wasn’t published
notfromhere··on Google Discloses $94.1B in SpaceX Stock, Marking 6% Stake
The value of the company and lapses in governance have nothing to do with each other. One does not disprove the other
notfromhere··on Google Discloses $94.1B in SpaceX Stock, Marking 6% Stake
You’re saying this as if that wouldn’t have been a positive outcome
notfromhere··on Corporate America Has Suddenly Decided to Stop Blowing Money on AI
I’m the person implementing and monitoring output.

What high am I supposed to be getting? Please let me know so I can stop buying drugs

notfromhere··on Corporate America Has Suddenly Decided to Stop Blowing Money on AI
Hallucinations are not really a big problem in day to day work
notfromhere··on Stripe in talks to buy OpenRouter for about $10B
distribution
notfromhere··on New rental trend? A $200 'work-from-home fee' tacked on to Bay Area lease
you're renting a space per month, and they're essentially adding an extra fee if you're doing more than sleeping there. kinda nuts
notfromhere··on OverpAId – Fire your CEO. Hire the future
output only slows down because companies don't want to adjust how they work. its a complete skill issue if you cant manage a remote org. if a company/team is already spread out across multiple offices, its a remote org
notfromhere··on OverpAId – Fire your CEO. Hire the future
sure, that doesn't mean pay is justified
