I haven't used the competing tools (ie Bing's Price Predictor) but I love what you are doing here. Any chance you could add YYC?
nosecreek··on Bootstrap 3.0 Upcoming changes
I was worried when I saw this, but the very next bullet point is:

>Overhauled default grid system. Now uses percentage widths, padding, and box-sizing: border-box instead of pixel widths and margins. Nesting and offsets remain the same.

Which sounds like they are actually making everything fluid, and removing fixed widths. Perhaps a good thing, although border-box means no IE7 support.

nosecreek··on Why we still love board games
Works well on an iPhone too. My friends and I played it a lot on the trains while travelling through Germany.
nosecreek··on Get a review of your website. Launched today.
I agree with all the others who say this is a neat idea. I've reviewed several sites, but there doesn't seem to be any confirmation of this on my dashboard. There is a button to "Get review" but in reality I should already be inline for a few, right? The dashboard should say so somewhere.
nosecreek··on Google Apps stops accepting free sign-ups
Just got an email from Google saying that this account will remain free.
nosecreek··on Google Apps stops accepting free sign-ups
Me too. I just set up a client's email with Google Apps a couple of days ago intending to use the free version. Its going to be a big headache if they can't use the free offering.
nosecreek··on Show HN: Soundslice – YouTube + synced guitar tabs + HTML5
This looks awesome. As a guitar player, I really hope you guys are successful with this this. Is there a way to browse through all annotated videos, rather that just recent ones?
nosecreek··on Introducing Wikipedia’s new HTML5 video player
Same here. Chrome 22 on Windows 7.
nosecreek··on Google Mobile App Analytics Public Beta Launch
Now if only they had an iOS app to view the data...
nosecreek··on Show HN: Watch LIVE Twitter photos related to #Sandy hurricane in real time.
Pretty much just a white screen for me, none of the pictures are loading. If I hover over where they are supposed to be I can see the related tweet. It also seems to be loading new tweets pretty fast. Can't say for sure since I can't see the photos, but I think it might be too fast to get a good look at any of them.

Can someone clarify the pricing for Dropbox's packrat? Is it free for pro users and free users have option to pay 3.99/month to get it, or do you have to be a pro user and then you can pay $3.99/month to get it? I think its the later, but I'm finding the Dropbox help page for it really unclear (sounds like it is free for all pro users).

What advantages does Stripe have over Intuit's GoPayment (http://www.gopayment.ca/Intuit)? Intuit's rates are actually lower (albeit by only .05%).
nosecreek··on Thieves "bug" debit card PIN pads in 63 Barnes & Noble stores
About a year ago someone did something similar to this (debit cards though, not credit) at the Wal-Mart in the small Canadian city I was living in. Just about everyone in town had their cards frozen and had to get new ones. I'm not sure how the attacker was capturing card information, but I do wonder if it doesn't have to do with the fact that our Chip & Pin cards also have a magnetic stripe.
nosecreek··on Coursera course on game development using Python (first homework due tomorrow)
It looks like Udacity is doing a similar course in the new year: http://www.udacity.com/overview/Course/cs255/CourseRev/1
nosecreek··on Show HN: I made Unmentionables, a free Taboo game for iPhone
I like it. I especially appreciate that you have a free play mode. I think this could be good for road trips. Smart to have the free cards as a motivation to allow push notifications. The idea of user submitted cards is kinda neat too.
nosecreek··on Poor man's IFTTT in 3 lines of code
I solved this problem using http://leafo.net/lessphp/. Obviously that only works if you are programming in PHP, but I would imagine there are similar solutions available for other languages?
nosecreek··on Show HN: YouFM - A new way to listen to music on Youtube
You may want to set cursor:pointer in your css. At first I didn't think I could click on a track to play it because it just showed the default cursor or, worse, a text-selector cursor.

nosecreek··on EBay Is Launching A Same-Day Shipping Service Called eBay Now
Absolutely not true, I live in Alberta and my experience is the same as joedrew. I also lived in Saskatchewan for a year and found that it was the same: Kijiji is by far the dominant online classifieds site.
nosecreek··on LESS Prefixer
Chrome supports .box-shadow without prefixes 8 versions back according to http://caniuse.com/css-boxshadow. It looks like the most likely place to run into trouble is the previous versions of Safari and iOS Safari, as well as all versions of Android Browser (this one surprised me). Personally, I will continue to use it without prefixes unless it is really important that the shadows work for mobile devices.
nosecreek··on LESS Prefixer
I keep seeing box-shadow used as an example in projects like this, but my understanding is that all browsers which support box-shadow now support it without any prefixes. If this is the case, aren't we better off to only have the generic .box-shadow, and not including any of the vendor prefixes?

I have been using my own version of something similar to this for other CSS properties. This looks more complete than my own, so I look forward to trying it out. Thanks for putting this together.

nosecreek··on Show HN: Word Wars- HTML5 real time word game
Good work. You fixed my biggest complaint with the last version (not disabling default backspace behaviour). The "Or just use your name" option is something I really appreciate. I almost left when I didn't see it at first, so you may want to consider making it a little more obvious.
nosecreek··on The Stanford Education Experiment Could Change Higher Learning Forever
OK, that makes sense. I wasn't aware of the Udacity course. I will have to check it out, as it is looking like the timing of the Stanford one might not work out for me. Do they start new classes fairly often? I can't seem to find the schedule on their site.
nosecreek··on The Stanford Education Experiment Could Change Higher Learning Forever
What is your source for this? I signed up for the class before the new year and got an email in February saying the class would be delayed until the second half of March and I would be notified two weeks in advance of the class start. I haven't heard anything since then and the cs101 site doesn't appear to have any more information.
nosecreek··on Show HN: Worldle- 24 Hour real time boggle HTML5 hackathon game
Agreed. I keep hitting backspace when I type a wrong letter or realize a word isn't actually there and suddenly my game is gone.
nosecreek··on Create 2D games in Lua and LÖVE.
It really is too bad that they still don't have anything for iOS/Android. I used Love a fair bit a couple of years ago and I seem to recall a few people who had been able to get it working on iOS, it doesn't look like anything came of it though.
