They make a great deal of sense in professional kitchens. If you're expecting to do hundreds of brunch covers, or a giant breakfast buffet, poaching eggs sous vide ahead of time is a game changer

100% agree on this. NBA coverage, especially on ESPN is garbage. Not to mention how expensive it is to (legally) watch the NBA. If they actually had better coverage explaining different facets of the game, and analyzing it, maybe people would appreciate what they're seeing more.
I know there are problems around Mozilla the org, or the how firefox is funded, but I hope it's not going anywhere.
It's like a good middle ground between Free and OpenBSD. Anyone into "minimal" linux distros might get a kick out of it.
Anyone interested should check out https://www.unitedbsd.com/ It's a bsd forum with a good number of netbsd users and a couple of developers as well.
Me too!
No systemD.
If you're using it as a desktop, it will take a little more time to config things to fit what you need. More command line editing of config files, than say Linux Mint or similar linux distros.
FreeBSD has the biggest community so it's easier to get help online.
That being said, NetBSD is worth checking out, especially for your use case.
If you decide to try it out on hardware, check out https://bsd-hardware.info/ and see if your machine is supported.
Also check out UnitedBSD.com It's a forum and there are many NetBSD users there.
But there are people who put him on the pedestal. His claimed by the left, and western leftists love to argue over who is "more socialist" than the other. His time in Spain, books like Animal Farm and 1984...they're held up as examples of Orwell being a better leftist than others.
Chronologically I think this comes after the horse semen pies.
It's not a stretch to think a middle class Englishmen from the early 20th century hates catholics, and that this bigotry (along with his other pet hates) pop up in his writing.
As far as Orwell being a socialist....don't forget he ratted out British socialist to British intelligence.
"That’s the thing about Orwell’s Imperialism: it’s perfectly ordinary stuff, distinguished only by the socialist persona he invented to speak it. As an example of literary dissembling, Orwell belongs with the great forgers. But as a man of ideas, he is truly beneath contempt. His ideas are simply the hatreds of his nursery, hidden by an elaborate self-glorifying backstory."
That's a neat quote. I wonder what Orwell thought of the manufactured famines in Ireland and India, or the British East India Company going to war with China so they make them purchase opium.
Correct. But we can blame PG&E for whatever negligence lead played its part in a forest fire, and enact legislation to make combat it.
Along with that, we can use controlled burns to mitigate the problem as well. It's well known that different indigenous tribes in North America did controlled burns for the positive effect it had.
Those are definitely annoying and off putting. On my pixel 5 chrome always worked well (but I use other browsers), and messages app was trouble free...
Wonder if it was a problem with that model of phone you had.
But it's true, apples ecosystem is definitely a draw
Gaming isn't great on Mac (depending on what games you play), but macbooks are great imo. A pro or an air with apple silicon is worth the money. I've never really appreciated the build quality of a mac before.
> I just got an iPhone for the first time, and it is a noticeably better device than my previous Android phones.
In what way? What Android phones did you use in the past?
Can you explain why? It's not something I know a lot about so I'd be interested to learn about
