nolite··on There’s Nothing Apple’s CEO Cares About More Than Not Paying Taxes
Or maybe you should consider the flip side, this law is fundamentally abusive and immoral, and should neither apply to corporations, nor individual citizens...
nolite··on There’s Nothing Apple’s CEO Cares About More Than Not Paying Taxes
All that doesn't justify the US govt getting a claim to it..
nolite··on Ask HN: Is it a waste of time to code internal tools?
This doesn't make any sense unless you specify what you mean by "internal tools"
nolite··on Forty percent of the Bay Area wants to leave, says new poll
And how'd you end up getting the long term visa with no job? (And please don't advise people to immigrate illegally to a country)
nolite··on Wages for college graduates across many majors have fallen since the recession
That's very hard to believe. What companies have you seen that at?
nolite··on Update: CRISPR
This is also true for many domains. Space travel for instance... in just a few hundred years, it'll be relatively easy for a disgruntled individual to trigger a nontrivial sized piece of space debris to hurl towards a major city. Once we begin harnessing asteroids to mine them in earth orbit, Someone could eventually alter its orbit to destroy a city or worse..

The clock is ticking, and we might not make it

nolite··on Ask HN: Is S3 down?
Can't agree with this. Buckets in eu-west-1 are fine
nolite··on Why it’s hard for programmers to write a program to flatten a list?
$ irb 2.3.1 :001 > [1,[2,3], [4, [5,6]]].flatten

=> [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

BOOM!

nolite··on Show HN: s3-lambda – Lambda functions over S3 objects: each, map, reduce, filter
Yes, just hook those up to a lambda function and write to dynamodb or something
nolite··on Chrome 56 will mark HTTP pages with password fields as non-secure
The Law of Unintended Consequences at its best
nolite··on Do you prefer Angelist over LinkedIn for hiring?
Mixed feelings - LinkedIn has great searching features for when you need something specific, but when you post ads, you get a ton of crap.

AngelList isn't as great for specific filtering, but you get alot more targeted incomming requests when you post a job

nolite··on Ask HN: Laid off today for the first time, anything to be wary of? Advice?
Don't get down on yourself. It happens to the best of us (and probably more often to the best of us because we cost more)
nolite··on Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition (Linux) Review
Ease of use... stability, passing 6 months w/o having to deeply debug some system issue...
nolite··on No tipping means better business
I don't live in a tip culture (not in America), and things seem to move along just fine. There's no shortage of people eating out in restaurants, nor a shortage of wait-staff working there..
nolite··on No tipping means better business
All of these things you describe, fall under what I consider "their job"
nolite··on American Express will give all parents 20 weeks of paid leave
Don't worry.. the USA is miles behind the rest of the world in MANY regards..
nolite··on Ask HN: As a single bootstrapper, how do you deal with the pressure?
You're never going to make it as long as you keep giving a f*ck about what other people think...
nolite··on Airbnb expands to experiences
your site has a multi-country select list to get the app via sms, but the button validation only allows American number formats.... argh...
nolite··on A Method I’ve Used to Eliminate Bad Tech Hires
I've been in situations together with clients deploying a product, them presenting it for their managers, orpreparing for a big demonstration, and something goes wrong due to some unforeseen environmental factor you couldn't have imagined or predicted, and breaks in a way you don't expect, despite the weeks of testing you've done.

You've got your main client staring over your shoulder, arms crossed saying fix it, and every two minutes asking "is it fixed yet?"

You damn well better be able to code under pressure... And like a freaking ninja

nolite··on A Method I’ve Used to Eliminate Bad Tech Hires
You perfectly verbalized what was bothering me about this reply
nolite··on Ask HN: You've got one month, what's your challenge?
Build a SPA in Vue.js
nolite··on Alzheimer’s treatment fully restores memory function (2015)
It is a huge deal... agreed.. And I'm a real scientist. just saying, let's not get carried away with the journalistic headlines.
nolite··on Alzheimer’s treatment fully restores memory function (2015)
..in mice...
nolite··on Serverless Map/Reduce
What about running lambda on custom AMIs ? Is that even remotely feasible one day ?
nolite··on A take on some of the criticisms being levelled at the new MacBook Pro models
I can pretty much guarantee that that segment you mentioned, doesn't need a $3000 computer to read email and do homework... And as much as they appreciate light, sleek, and fast enough, they'll appreciate keeping money in their bank accounts a bit more..
nolite··on VMware’s new cloud service will run on AWS
re-reading my comment, I have no idea what I was thinking at the time... thanks
nolite··on MacBook Pro
jk

(no, not just kidding.. jk is my ESC shortcut)

nolite··on VMware’s new cloud service will run on AWS
Kinda sucks for images that license to the network interface. They added elastic network interfaces, but you can't use those for eth0 (which a lot of software licenses to), so you're still screwed
nolite··on Have: a new language that transpiles to Go
Is this a contest to find the most ungoogleable names possible? I think they just took the lead..
nolite··on Switching Costs in Software Development
