nobodyshere··on Immediate brain plasticity after one hour of brain–computer interface
Had that not been the case, we'd be a dead branch of evolution probably long gone by now.
nobodyshere··on Biometric YubiKey
The problem of your misunderstanding in this case. That can be fixed though.
nobodyshere··on Biometric YubiKey
Fingerprints aren’t passwords here.
nobodyshere··on ProtonMail iOS app goes open source
They have a famous saying in Russia:

Presence of laws is compensated by absence of necessity to follow them.

No, I wouldn't trust anything stored there without encryption from my side.

nobodyshere··on ProtonMail iOS app goes open source
I'd rather finance an iOS Thunderbird with GPG support.
nobodyshere··on ProtonMail iOS app goes open source
Except I’m not using protonmail since I trust my yubikey way more in terms of storing my private keys.

Also, it only seems like a simple task. You still have to manage notifications and UI for multiple accounts. Not to mention that I’d probably not do that free of charge.

nobodyshere··on ProtonMail iOS app goes open source
Yes it does. However I'm not quite sure who is going to do that.
nobodyshere··on Using Web Bluetooth to Communicate with Bluetooth Devices
Do they provide such a low level API to usual mortal developers? This isn't going to be nice and comfy in terms of usability if it happens the way you describe.
nobodyshere··on Using Web Bluetooth to Communicate with Bluetooth Devices
Sorry for not linking it. Thank you guzik for doing what I should've done. That's the link I meant.
nobodyshere··on Using Web Bluetooth to Communicate with Bluetooth Devices
It is indeed very likely going to die. Webkit team isn't even considering it anymore now.

Radio jamming will work in case a particular govt is capable enough. In other cases just a simple imports and use ban on such devices without a license.
nobodyshere··on A little SSH file copy magic at the command line
When it comes to 4096 the only viable benefit seems to be the key size and performance. While I certainly agree with that and I wish I could use ed25519, I can't use it with my security keys.

Yubikey currently supports 4096 bit RSA keys as a part of GPG applet. There's a PIV module, however in terms of elliptic curves it only has ec256 and ec384 and I still can't get ssh and pkcs11 to pick up anything other than built-in 2048 RSA keys.

DSA - maybe. RSA - what's wrong with that one given you have a 4096 bit key?
nobodyshere··on Cameras Could Replace Car Mirrors?
If health check of such systems is included in periodic maintenance events, there shouldn't be a problem at all.

I'm also not quite sure that good old mechanical cars fail less than modern vehicles supplied with lots of complicated electronic stuff.

nobodyshere··on Pair Locking Your iPhone
The only reason might be something only available through the lightning port. The only thing I can imagine is trying to restore from backup if the OS got messed up for some reason or the screen is broken and touch UI is not an easy option.
nobodyshere··on Cameras Could Replace Car Mirrors?
Small old bump will never "knock a wire loose". This is serious industrial level equipment that must handle rain, snow and other shitty conditions including vibrations of a wide frequency range. And all that at least for the warranty period of a vehicle.
nobodyshere··on Cameras Could Replace Car Mirrors?
How so? A fixed wide focus camera doesn't really have any moving parts at all afaik.
nobodyshere··on Why does 1.1.1.1 not resolve archive.is?
Wow, what a bunch of not-so-smart people.
nobodyshere··on Why does 1.1.1.1 not resolve archive.is?
Not cloudflare servers in particular. They demand EDNS(optional by design) which cloudflare does not support due to privacy risks.
nobodyshere··on Why does 1.1.1.1 not resolve archive.is?
A very silly one at that given their reasons for not resolving archive.is are quite rational and on the contrary makes me want to swap google's DNS servers for theirs.
nobodyshere··on Google to stop showing news snippets for French users
I find it really awkward. Are they that blind?

Nope. They've won as long as you still hate and remember them.
nobodyshere··on .su
Its reasons for today's existence can easily change. Luckily your hate won't win this battle.
nobodyshere··on .su
Yeah, sure.

Ukrainians were not the only ones to suffer from the famines back then. Multiple parts of the USSR actually did. It doesn't seem like a targeted action on behalf of the govt.
nobodyshere··on .su
Which one was that?

Can you seriously trust WhatsApp's security now that it belongs to Facebook?
nobodyshere··on Tinder Bypasses Google Play, Joining Revolt Against App Store Fee
Well, IMHO it is a fair argument for Google. They allow third party app stores. F-Droid is a brilliant example.

For Apple, however, things aren't as nice and shiny. They force you to distribute and get apps through their store. They don't let you distribute your apps easily otherwise. You don't have a choice of sharing a piece of your app price with Apple or selling it through your website as a package, or through any other app store.
