@gkoberger - Good point.

We used to have droughts as well.

Hence are launching this service to keep a track of good leads for freelancers round the year: http://topleads.co

One question - what do you do when you have many good leads, but have time to work on only one?

nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
Sorry about that. Is it accessible now?

I am using blogger. Should switch soon. Here is the same post on Medium: https://medium.com/p/362c7c6176b8

nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
Agreed. My post is targeted more towards technologists who are interested in building a business. For those who want to be top developers, I recommend to write code on a regular basis.

Thanks for your input, I have updated the post to state the same.

nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
I am not against Don't break the chain philosophy for people who want to be top notch developers.

This was just an attempt to give a different point of view for technologists who are interested in building a business.

nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
I do. :) Since 10 years now. Ruby on Rails since 4 years. Was doing Java at a Swiss Bank's Quant Trading Team before that. Disclosure - I can't call myself a great coder though. Still learning the best practices.
nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
That's the beauty of having different point of views - we can discuss, learn from each other and follow what we think is right.
nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
@smallfluffycat - Hiring external vendors can work very well at times. It is a part of recruitment. I try to get the best person for that role for what I can afford. Full time in house or an external vendor - doesn't matter.
nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
:) That's important too!
nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
@bowlofpetunias absolutely agreed!
nns1212··on Stop Writing Code Everyday
@kayoone - I also used to code everyday - it was definitely a good practice.

However, I realized, that I am not able to focus on management - which is also important.

I still code at least 4 days a week (including weekends).

However, doing it every day, I don't think it is mandatory.

nns1212··on Ask HN: Successful one-person online businesses?
Not sure if this counts. I have created a simple landing page open source project: http://rails-landing-page.herokuapp.com/

I get a lot of consulting (development + design) business when clients learn about us via this application.

I also use it set up landing pages for any Startups/SMEs are developing their MVP/Beta application with me.

Looking forward to attend it!
nns1212··on How I Made a (Summly Founder) 15-Year-Old App Developer Cry (2011)
I was really impressed as well. That's why I posted this link.
nns1212··on How I Made a (Summly Founder) 15-Year-Old App Developer Cry (2011)
I posted this because I felt the quality of him being relentless really helped him to achieve this success.
nns1212··on The Summly deal makes no sense
Pulse is getting purchased for over $50 million by LinkedIn. (http://gigaom.com/2013/03/11/linkedin-reportedly-buying-news...)

Summly is much better than that as far as technology is concerned.

Yahoo got a better deal.

nns1212··on How I Made a (Summly Founder) 15-Year-Old App Developer Cry (2011)
Yahoo, please read :)

"If I wanted to invest in an app developer, I'd put Nick D'Aloisio through etiquette school, manners class, drill him with social skills and most importantly, teach him the basics of how e-mails work (or maybe just strip him of e-mail rights altogether) and then I'd let him work."

nns1212··on How I Made a (Summly Founder) 15-Year-Old App Developer Cry (2011)
As far as "Relentlessly resourceful" is concerned, I am sure Nick D'Aloisio has "relentless" really nailed.
nns1212··on Show HN: PairBuddy - Secret Crush App - built in 72 hours, learnt Bootstrap
lol..
nns1212··on YC W13 Will Be Smaller
I am happy with the decision.

Having a lot of startups in every batch reduces the focus of YC partners In these situations, even startups with a very good potential (like Airbnb & Dropbox) won't be able to achieve much.

YC can increase the number of partners, advisors, mentors or cycles per year (instead of diluting their time over a lot of startups).

nns1212··on Marketing, Gangnam Style
@citricsquid excellent argument.

Psy's song was catchy, new and entertaining. That's what mattered the most.

That's what happen with good internet products as well.

nns1212··on Show HN: Smilerr - LinkedIn meets Love.
Here are more details about why we started Smilerr: http://smilerr-blog.tumblr.com/

We are still in the MVP phase. Your thoughts/comments will be very valuable.

nns1212··on Show HN: Smilerr - LinkedIn meets Love.
One very important factor about building a good relationship with a person is what she or he does for living - their profession.

Profession of a person gives us a lot of idea about them. People are more likely to connect with and meet the person if they work at reputed organizations.

Smilerr is a fun, safe & easy way to connect & meet like-minded singles from top organizations. At Smilerr, we validate the work email of our members at sign up to make sure that their profiles are real & legitimate.

We are not a dating or a matrimonial service. We are simply creating a fun, easy & safe medium to help connect like-minded singles and build a good relationship.

Would love your feedback.

@iand - great, thanks for your advice.
nns1212··on Ask HN - What is the best way to reach out to Enterprise/SMB customers?
We are building a knowledge management platform that complements Box.com. Box.com is providing solutions to SMBs as well as Fortune 500.

I am not sure where to get a list of SMBs that we can talk to - to get initial reviews & feedback. Will look around.

Again - thanks a lot for your advice.
