nnnnni··on Dyson 360 Eye
I've found that this kind is very common; a company will build a good reputation on high-quality products and then slowly lower the quality to make more profit.

It's a bad deal for consumers.

nnnnni··on King has finally done it: they've released a complete ripoff of Bejeweled
You do have a good point there about clones... but is pop-cap sue-happy like King?
nnnnni··on King has finally done it: they've released a complete ripoff of Bejeweled
Candy Crush Saga wasn't enough of a clone, apparently. They had the revolutionary idea to use "gems" this time!

I really hope that they finally face legal karma as a result of releasing this one.

nnnnni··on Show HN: AnyDesk – Realtime Screen Sharing with Specialized Video Codec
Yeah, it was really jarring when I scrolled down. This one was a LOT worse than others that I've seen.
nnnnni··on Georgia dealers want Tesla store shuttered for selling too many Teslas
Oh, I didn't say/mean that it had to be a quadrocopter/multi-rotor vehicle... I was just saying that it'd be a pretty large vehicle. While it's a cool idea, I suspect that a lot of people would be very wary of something of that size flying around their house/building without a human pilot onboard. It's basically the "not in my backyard" syndrome.
nnnnni··on Georgia dealers want Tesla store shuttered for selling too many Teslas
Imagine the size of that drone! =-)
nnnnni··on Logitech K480 – Bluetooth Multi-Device Keyboard
I loved that thing all the way up until I saw that ctrl and fn were swapped from the standard layout =-(

Otherwise, I know of quite a few people who could really use this thing!

nnnnni··on Amazon has sold no more than 35,000 Fire phones, data suggests
That would be a major shame since there are AC power inverters that run off of 12V ports in cars. Some people rely on those for different reasons. For example, it's a really nice way to recharge a laptop while traveling.
nnnnni··on Surprise Text Message Sent by Google Voice
I think that it said that a message was sent FROM his phone. You can view all messages (to and from) through voice.google.com.
nnnnni··on Gooey: Turn command line programs into GUI applications
I was expecting it to merely be a graphical version of "dialog". I was pleasantly surprised!
nnnnni··on ‘Beep,’ Says the Bellhop
Oh, was it Caprica? Oops.
nnnnni··on ‘Beep,’ Says the Bellhop
...so basically we're at the "robot butler" stage of Cylon development? That thing seems a lot like the common household robot in the (new) Battlestar Galactica pre-series "Blood & Chrome".
nnnnni··on A game engine for building online adaptations of board and card games
It's perfect for that! The BattleCON guys do it...
nnnnni··on Navdy: HUD for your car
In this case, it was a Ford Escape. It has proximity sensors all around -- it'll also tell you when someone is in your blind spot in a neighboring lane.
nnnnni··on Navdy: HUD for your car
You must have a magical car that has absolutely no blind spots! Which one is it? I'd like to consider purchasing one as my next car.

My current car will give warnings if it sees cross traffic approaching when in reverse. It has warned me a few times when someone is driving way too quickly through a parking lot and my view has been blocked by parked cars.

Things like this are REALLY useful. You just don't realize how useful they are because you haven't used the technology yet.

nnnnni··on Why Some Schools Are Selling All Their iPads
..........not always.

Well, always. But they're not always who they claim to be!

nnnnni··on Show HN: Dump receipts as you get them through the year, recall them at tax time
My wallet's receipt to cash ratio is at least 10:1 at all times. I hate it!
nnnnni··on Localizing Papers, Please
I wish that everyone would switch to the YYYY-MM-DD ISO 8601 standard... It sorts nicely and there would never be any question about whether it's "January 5" or "May 1"!
nnnnni··on LG's Smartwatch Shows Android Wear Operating System Has a Long Way to Go
I use voice control for one thing: to send text messages while driving. It's a lot safer to say "text bob i will be there in fifteen minutes" then "send" than to try to type while driving. It's also (understandably) illegal to type the messages while driving in many areas!
nnnnni··on Show HN: Miimic – Let your friends text for you
Nintendo may not like the use of "Mii"...
nnnnni··on Free, Worldwide, Encrypted Phone Calls for iPhone
We're going to need verifiable sources for claims like that.
nnnnni··on Show HN: Streisand – Silence censorship, automate the effect
...but how would people know when it happens if the information is censored before it can get out?!
nnnnni··on Why blurring sensitive information is a bad idea (2007)
Their answer is to "color over it", but BE CAREFUL if you do that. I'm sure that some of us remember the US government document(s) in the late 90s/early 2000s that were released in redacted form, but the person didn't realize/understand that people with the Acrobat editor program could remove the black bars.
nnnnni··on Elevator Hacking: From the Pit to the Penthouse [video]
...but then the engineering department would start sending their people out to the new off-campus location to pick up their materials?

(alluding to the google bus fiasco)

nnnnni··on Elevator Hacking: From the Pit to the Penthouse [video]
So basically it was a small-scale model of what happens in city neighborhoods?
nnnnni··on [dead]
One of the comments said "That's what you get for writing your own installation/removal code instead of relying on the proper tools and processes provided by the distributions."

I'd have to agree. There's a reason why those tools exist!

nnnnni··on Chameleon: browser fingerprinting protection for everybody
"for everybody as long as you're using Chrome or Chromium" (or perhaps another browser that accepts Chrome extensions)
nnnnni··on Show HN: Star Trek DS9 Episodes Worth Watching
Hmm... There's a lot of Wheaton hate here!
nnnnni··on Show HN: Star Trek DS9 Episodes Worth Watching
Surely it's nothing but the Wesley Crusher episodes.
nnnnni··on Trnio – Turn your iPhone into a 3D scanner
Did they? If so, that's a huge improvement over the iOS 7 beta release.

Although I suspect that it does nothing for those who add reviews through iTunes on the computer rather than through App Store on the device!
