nnn1234··on Ask HN: How do you 'discover people'?
Twitter , online research if it's a person I want to know in my industry. But I would say Twitter, Reddit etc
nnn1234··on Ask HN: How did you validate your startup?
We did a meta campaign I.e. asked the community to help build the product , the website, test etc
nnn1234··on Ask HN: Is there a “product launch as a service” company?
Lest the HN bots think I am over selling my startup,

Check out www.crowdraising.co

nnn1234··on Ask HN: Tools and Ideas to engage with initial users?
Built a tool specifically for listening to customer voice. Please check out www.crowdraising.co would love to work with you
nnn1234··on Ask HN: Do you host or attend Meetups?
Don't forget splash
nnn1234··on Ask HN: What questions would you ask if you had full access to Facebook's data?
The list of social studies and humanities problems we could solve if FB will give anonymized data is ridiculous.

Basically this could be the input to policy framing and overton window ING the populus

nnn1234··on Ask HN: Would you answer Yes or No questions for 5 cents a pop? Why or why not?
Depends on the person's financial state at the time. The contradiction this question gets to is ,if the question is worth a throw away amount, then no. But if the questioner research s the questionees expertise and pays to access it then yes.

Basically a long way to say no

nnn1234··on Ask HN: Why doesn't Uber pay drivers using free market bidding?
It's not too complex to implement. Think of uber's USP a taxi in X minutes ,the smaller the X the more rides they get.

Analogizing to the past ,let's say you hailed a cab before Uber and had to choose how much the driver would charge, would you do that?

A metric based pricing (distance with some initial price) is much more time efficient for the rider and driver.

I know that travelling X miles will cost y $ across the board. If I have to not only choose type of service but quality of service that's one more thing I have to do. Given that we know I will pay close to $Y for X travelled any cost plus price around Y seems logical to me.

Issue with tech coming into play is the cost X is significantly decreasing ( threatened by reducing driver pay)

If we take into account driver pay as a separate part of cost per ride, then eliminating that makes most sense.

nnn1234··on Ask HN: What's the minimum I should do to legally-protect my side project?
I would say LLC for all or most of your side projects .

You can trademark your graphic assets. Shouldnt be too much trouble , most of this can be done online by yourself .

If you don't want a legal entity you better have a business moat I.e. real users , real usecase, or put your name , face on the site and brand it such that your side project=you

nnn1234··on Ask HN: How do I manage a large student dev group?
Hey Flaque, me and my team are working on something tangentially related. Would love to talk to you about it. Can you send me your email id?
nnn1234··on Ask HN: Foreign founders – would you incorporate in the US today?
Excellent question. I would recommend the nomadic capitalist.

There is a sheen placed on the US which is waning.

But buying power and corporate freedoms are still better here.

As someone who tried to startup in India and have had success here, the grind may be a bit more currently but still a fan.

nnn1234··on Ask HN: How can i become a better explainer
Yes and more.

Is there an algorithmic way to get an explanation ? Then

What is the filtering mechanism to make sure the audience get maximal understanding based on their comprehension level

nnn1234··on Ask HN: How can i become a better explainer
This is a great question. Is there an algorithmic way to offer the best explanation of an idea to an audience?
nnn1234··on If you were asked to solve the 'fake news' problem, how would you solve it?
One little push back, someone had to write the fake news for other people to share it.

Massive click farms and hate baiting are the issues that can be solved. Options like where the content originated from, who the writer was and why are they anon if so?

Tech solutions are a first approximation to solve this question. Deeper solutions require scale and some mustache twirling

nnn1234··on Ask HN: Why aren't there any good personal finance apps?
Let's face it , the decentralized ledger folks have a nice moat on these ideas. Blockchain tech would default enable this kind of thing
nnn1234··on Ask HN: Why aren't there any good personal finance apps?
There is an access to data issue. This is a trust issue from the user side and a competition/regulation issue on the banking provider side.

Ideally the gap shouldn't exist because enough people are clamoring for these services, Asset Management the umbrella term is a high touch activity and the banks and managers make a killing by going after high net worth individuals.

A lot of startups especially after the chatbot and AI craze are working on this issue.

Let's say a startup comes up with a solution, would you trust them with access to your bank account?

nnn1234··on Ask HN: How do you know when to run with an idea?
I would say everyone hashes out new ideas. Implementing them and selecting profitable ones is the difficulty. I will echo most points made by people here.

Solve a problem or a need, that is the idea that will work

nnn1234··on Ask HN: There is caste system in the Silicon Valley?
A bit of context, I am an immigrant from India
nnn1234··on Ask HN: There is caste system in the Silicon Valley?
I believe this is a generational issue. I have seen this sort of behaviour in people who like corporate 9-5 jobs or who have been politicking their way around a company. I would say if the team is predominantly first generation immigrant then there might be this issue. I have seen this come up in social contexts and not professional ones. If you are in that sort of space, leave that team now
nnn1234··on If you were asked to solve the 'fake news' problem, how would you solve it?
Applaud your effort. The Comment from dimodi9 does make sense. I would think long and hard about the incentive structure.

What do you think of initiatives like Steem?

The Problem of using the crowd to annotate the news is a secondary solution is good but having a source of truth is the final solution

nnn1234··on Ask HN: Is there any proven model that eliminates corruption?
Eliminate corruption might not be possible, but there is a solvable first approximation. If power was distributed enough and access was free enough, human survival instinct translated to greed would be channeled along a different path, which might be close enough to what you are hinting at here
nnn1234··on Ask HN: How do I improve my impromptu speaking?
I second Practice and reading whatever language you want to speak in. You could hack it by having a scenario specific list of quotes, phrases and oratorical devices in your sleeve to show off ( like a magician always has a deck of cards ready) I would suggest reading a whole lot and then going out and doing it
nnn1234··on Show HN: Have a skill? Use it to travel the world for free
Great Initiative, you have obviously considered the VISA issues. Would love to hear how you plant to tackle those.

I would pay heavily for a service that takes care of my entire backoffice and gives me a check for work and has great customer service( the millennial in me i guess)

nnn1234··on Show HN: Have a skill? Use it to travel the world for free
Nice reply.
nnn1234··on Could science continue even if a civilisation breaks down?
The Question I think is better dissected along demographic barriers and defining what you mean when you say Science.

If there is no one here to practice science, then the word loses its meaning.( tree falling in the woods analog)

If we take the lesser of your dystopia, Civilization exists its just not democractic nor peaceful, Here I give you the example of the Klingons (Star trek nerd that I am :) )

nnn1234··on Ask HN: Where can I get feedback on my project before the launch?
I am building that platform. check out www.crowdraising.co (Hey HN Hive mind, this is very clearly inline with the OP's query.)
nnn1234··on Ask HN: Should I create a new HN for Technology related to Geopolitics?
While I applaud you for thinking of ways to share knowledge, I would like you to consider incentive structures and presentation of value +truthiness

If your goal is to curate expertise and create an on going knowledge base I would suggest wiki style Or GASP a magazine

If your goal is to crowdsource the info with up and down voting , I would dig deeper into the incentive structure and possibility of fostering a conspiracy theory community

nnn1234··on Ask HN: What other online communities do you frequent?
Indiehackers Reddit Some slack groups
nnn1234··on Ask HN: Next step after bootstrap land?
I would say consuming but you are already on there.Given that were are already part of couple of startups, you should be able to network your way to a consulting gig
nnn1234··on Ask HN: How would you automate my farm
You are right. I have not worked in aero/aquaponics .

You are saying the tech is still not scalable? I would love to know more. If it's pure automation then are robotics of any use?
