nkjoep··on The State of JavaScript 2018
I've got the same feeling but with bad connotation.

React is easy the same way jQuery is. Easy, unstructured, foggy, too much permissive tool.

Far too easy to end-up with spaghetti-code.

I prefer not using it, Angular is far more organized.

nkjoep··on Why Italy Could Be the Epicenter of the Next Financial Crisis
I couldn't agree more.

I am Italian and I think it is only Italian bad administration's fault.

All bad choices taken in the last 20 years are showing their effect now.

nkjoep··on Why Italy Could Be the Epicenter of the Next Financial Crisis
I just think politics has never generated employment.

Organization and the real economy do.

I think planning more debt is a mistake, especially when they have a clear (or smart) way to spend it. (see corruption, mafia, bureaucracy etc...)

nkjoep··on On Cash
In Berlin, and in Germany in general, cash-only is the normality for most of the shops.

I thought it was a bad and inconvenient idea at the beginning, maybe I should rethink.

nkjoep··on Can Naples reinvent itself as a tech capital?
moved to Berlin 2 years ago. Very safe city indeed.
nkjoep··on Good vs. Bad Legacy Code
> Software is nothing but a caricature of the ones who wrote it. It is thus no wonder that code quality is deeply correlated with the quality of the processes which led to its writing.

I cannot agree more.

nkjoep··on Remote Only
TBH, I think was somehow your fault. Before writing even a single line of code I make sure that "I" understood what is needed.

Then, if nothing is written down anywhere, I'd just sum up what I am going to implement (email, wiki, internal docs, readme whatever) and send it to anyone involved.

Check mate for for control-freak-undecided-colleagues. :)

nkjoep··on The Senior Engineer’s Guide to Helping Others Make Decisions
> They should also be ok with having that suggestion rejected

I agree at one condition: explain them why their suggestions are not appropriate (out of context, lack of resources, not a priority etc...).

That way you simply teach them more about the team/company business and will help them to step up their decisional skills.

nkjoep··on Tell HN: Some thoughts on ten years on Hacker News
I love hnletter! Works when I didn't have the time during the week :)
nkjoep··on Hunting Mushrooms, and What Makes Some Glow in the Dark
I don't know exactly how to find it, I am pretty sure I've heard that on TV some time ago.

However in Italy, for instance, the Legge 352/1993[1] says explicitly to use proper "containers" in order to favour the spores' spreading.

That's a generic normative then local authorities could rule other details on harvesting and selling them.

nkjoep··on Hunting Mushrooms, and What Makes Some Glow in the Dark
Don't use plastic bags.

It's forbidden by law in Europe simply because it will prevent the spores to drop.

Use a wooden basket instead.

nkjoep··on The Icon Journey
It denotes attention to details from their side.
nkjoep··on 'Our minds can be hijacked': tech insiders who fear a smartphone dystopia
The article is very long and doesn't say anything interesting, IMHO.
nkjoep··on 30-Day Timelapse at Sea [video]
Nice repost @OP! ;)
nkjoep··on CSS Triggers
That would be useful if integrated with caniuse.com.

Overall you'll learn everything will trigger everything.

nkjoep··on What Self-Driving Cars See
I'd say that using "base stations" or "turrets" like in airports wouldn't make a autonomous-self-driving technology.

I guess I prefer a fully independent car capable of driving anywhere without the help 3rd party devices.

Ok maybe just gps.

nkjoep··on Human behavioral complexity peaks at age 25: study
FWIW, I've been discovered with MS exactly at 25.
nkjoep··on Autocomplet=“off” not working for email
`autocomplet` or `autocomplete`?
nkjoep··on Predicting Properties of Molecules with Machine Learning
I'd like to know what the Dr. Prof. Vijay S. Pande, father of the Folding at Home project, thinks about that.
nkjoep··on IFixit Thinks a New iPhone Is a Waste of Money
>> You gotta fight for your right to repair

Depends. My iPhones worked very well for 3-4 years with top performances. I would fight to remove from the market the not-so-durable phones rather than fight against a good product like an iPhone.

nkjoep··on Detection of radioactive iodine at trace levels in Europe in January 2017
This article talks about France, but highlights also Sardinia which is part of Italy.
nkjoep··on ZeroPhone – A Raspberry Pi smartphone
How does it deal with the IMEI regulation? Isn't the IMEI mandatory for every cellular phone?
nkjoep··on Markdown.css – Make HTML look like plain-text markdown
Yes! and just for the record I wrote a similar thing 3 years ago https://github.com/NKjoep/i-love-markdown.css
nkjoep··on Dash for iOS is now open source
They suggest this plugins (http://devdocs.io/about):

- Chrome web app

- Sublime Text plugin

- Atom plugin

- Brackets extension

- Emacs Package

nkjoep··on Dash for iOS is now open source
I stopped using Dash long time ago.

http://devdocs.io/ is enough for me.

nkjoep··on Total Nightmare: USB-C and Thunderbolt 3
I agree on the "we will survive" fact. When buying something, of course the buyers they must be careful and get informed.

Having only one plug shape simplifies a lot, and this doesn't change how difficult is to choose a product. At all.

nkjoep··on The French Number – Connect to a random French person and talk about anything
Cool initiative.

Btw, that blue (#000099) with white is so disturbing.

nkjoep··on Show HN: Turn a markdown document into an interactive tutorial
The usual scam, they ask for email and try to gather more leads.

I'm really disappointed.
