Cost me $500 (to a good charity, oh well) and guess what, I was fucking right. I have subby-tendancies but some of you put me to shame. Me personally? I don't like the taste of rubber.
lol, go try to just even sign up for a new X account and let me know how that goes. god damn sycophancy.
But of course, even among HNers, there's amazing cognitive dissonance among "decentralization is hard and takes effort" and "omg, of course the next centralized platform won't be bought by an insecure dictator-wannabe".
I'm not that old, it's played out over and over. I shouldn't even comment here. Decentralization or bust.
I do know how to spell ostracized ? I'm not sure if that's what I meant? Truly a mess.
It's the classic thing. Across every gdmf metric, excluding with "true empathy", no one *gives a fuck* until it affects them, or someone within (1-3) degrees of separatation. And having broad empathy is generally a good way to get yourself labeled/astrocized: both about as obvious "compriate" and obvious "adversary".
I haven't seen people really care and mobilize since maybe BLM?
I'd suggest you go look at DHH's own account, own tweets and then delete this embarrassing comment.
2. I never said that. Weird that you would feel the need to put words in my mouth. Why might that be?
GOD I LOVE HN, I CANT REPLY NOW. WHY DO I BOTHER? Since I can't reply, and I was wrong: https://files.catbox.moe/kksyqz.png
EDIT: god, shocking, crazy, hard for this site to imagine but, I spent 10 whole seconds looking at my account, click on a device, looked at the URL. It's clearly a hex-encoded GDID. https://account.microsoft.com/devices/device?deviceId=global...
`001880098F23FCDB` but sure, I'm the idiot here.
I MEAN HOLY FUCK ITS LITERALLY THE GLOBAL DEVICE ID IN THE URL, IN THE EXACT FORMAT OF A 'GDID', BUT WHAT DO I KNOW?
And yes, it's totally normal for my Microsoft account to show me a machine named 'pelinore', registered to my account, when I literally don't know the first fucking thing about DnD, and I have specific machine naming convention that would never include 'pelinore' /s.
Are those of you on X really this out of touch?
Last week, when I logged into my Microsoft account, I had an extra machine with a funny name. Checking some logs, sure enough that was the hostname he gave that machine. Realized what had happened, refreshed the page, and it was gone.
The URL parameter for these devices in the Microsoft Account page is the GDID. So the Microsoft Account page showed me a GDID of a device I unlinked ~4 years ago. (And I'm slightly obsessive, I check on my Google/Microsoft account every other month.) Gooood job Microsoft.
Maybe I'm the dingus but, just not good vibes. Apparently it's probably "fine": https://x.com/github/status/2072801888525840476
Shout-out to the downvoters, may you continue filling randomly linked, MS Forms blindly from nameless accounts, eat your hearts out.
What you say makes sense, but further adds to my confusion as to why those model names would appear in input sent to Claude at all, then. EDIT: I guess it might be because someone might point Claude at a compatible API, with its model in the URL, which is of interest to them.
I guess the only explanation is that there's a side-telemetry channel that still sends some data to Anthropic, regardless of ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL overrides.
I have more money than sense. I don't even know (yet) how silly it is, but maybe a Strix Halo, with 2x 5090s with p2p pcie patch? I'd do more 5090s but the power consumption and need to water cool is too much for me.
I'm also itchy because it seems like Ryzen Pro 495 is coming soon with even more unified RAM... (thoughts very much appreciate on any of this...)
