niveus··on Ask HN: Who wants to be fired? (February 2025)
Curious if you would share what that new career is.
niveus··on Ask HN: How to become a more powerful man?
I think your main problem here is that you're too worried about what other people think of you. Does it really matter that some guys don't think you're that manly? Why do you need their validation?
niveus··on Jeremy Guillory's Counter-Complaint against Cruise Automation
Or it means you should always get everything in writing no matter what side you're on. A simple statement regarding how the shares vest would have prevented this.
niveus··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (April 2016)

I've worked for companies large and (really) small, building great experiences with Auto Layout and custom controls. I was also a frontend developer for many years, working on majorly trafficked sites like the www.paypal.com homepage.

niveus··on High-Tech Employee Antitrust Settlement
How did Yahoo get out of it? I thought they were also implicated.
niveus··on Could Yahoo Inc. (YHOO) Cut 10,000 Jobs to Avoid Bankrupcy?
It might help to cut costs by removing products that don't really have a future, but I don't see how this would help with the real problem: where are the new growth products that will define what Yahoo is going forward. They've acquired companies left and right and not seen anything from it.
niveus··on Ask HN: What are your health and fitness goals?
I've lost over 15lb since April by being very strict about my diet. I wasn't overweight before, but I wanted to be around 6% body fat. I use Happy Scale (for iPhone) and weigh myself everyday and use that to really push myself to eat healthy for the day. It's been tough and I've had to work hard at it, but I have only a few more pounds to go until my goal.
niveus··on Yahoo, still an awful company
Oh, I figured they had used Safari but it makes sense that they used the builtin Mail app.
niveus··on Yahoo, still an awful company
There is an app called Keychain Access on the mac which allows you to copy a password to the clipboard. If they're using iCloud keychain and they can login to their iCloud account, you might be able to pull it off that way.
niveus··on PayPal.com redesign
FYI: It's being A/B tested so you might not get the new version.
niveus··on Ask HN: Who is Co-Founding?
I'm also a developer looking for a cofounder but only local ones (I'm in Silicon Valley).
niveus··on How can Rails react to the rise of the JavaScript applications?
Rails 4 brought along Turbolinks which is a step in the framework direction. I really think those frameworks are overly complex anyway. I've never seen a site that used one and didn't suck to use (slow/buggy UI).
niveus··on Your Cardio Routine Is Making You Fat
Actually, the advice in this article is dangerous. While technically, you will burn muscle if you exercise at a high level for an extended period, this is because you aren't getting enough calories to support your regimen. People are so afraid of calories nowadays, they don't realize that your body needs carbs in order to perform work. The answer isn't to eliminate cardio, which can boost your immune system and make you feel better overall (unlike what the article states). The answer is to change your diet to eliminate things like simple carbs and saturated fats. I'm under 10% body fat and I do both cardio and weight training and I feel better than I ever did in my 20s. Instead of simply taking my advice (or the idiot who wrote this article), read up on how your body's metabolism works and how the different sources of calories are used for energy and repair. And, damnit, don't be afraid of calories or cardio, focus on what you're eating.
niveus··on App store discovery problem. a different take? this looks interesting...
There's not much info about what it is. It might be a cross promotion network like many of the other ones that exist. If a person is playing a word game, you can advertise your own word game in it (or something to that effect). But like you said, I'm not sure how many people love playing all word games all the time.
niveus··on Bang with friends is on sale for 550,000$
Strange how no one mentioned that they're selling bangfriends.net when the more popular one is .com (a different site)

niveus··on Ask HN: What unwanted domain names are you sitting on?
The first one would be great to put your resume on.
niveus··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (January 2013)
