nissehulth··on Pharmacy Startup PillPack to Be Terminated by Express Scripts
They won't let me in even with a fresh Chrome without any plugins at all. They still tell me to disable adblock.

Their adblock-checking seems very broken.

nissehulth··on Kindle Unlimited scammers on Amazon
Thank you. I just tried to read more about it but all I got from amazon.com was "We're sorry. Kindle Unlimited is not available in your country. Please stay tuned.".
nissehulth··on Kindle Unlimited scammers on Amazon
I read the whole article and didn't find any explanation what "KU" was. Now I find here that it means "Kindle Unlimited" but I still have no idea what it is. Some kind of subscription service?

I buy a lot of Kindle books but never seen any "Unlimited" offer, perhaps something that is US only?

nissehulth··on Filling the void left by Kiva’s 2012 acquisition by Amazon
Thank you, I felt really confused when I saw the title but as usual, I read comments here before clicking the link.
nissehulth··on Introducing Kindle Oasis
I do love my paperwhite but I really can't see myself "upgrading" to this. Faster page turns? Really?
nissehulth··on Introducing Kindle Oasis
Well, for stuff small enough to keep in a pocket, travel/check-in-weight isn't really an issue.

But you are right, most people here are not in the target market.

nissehulth··on Uber says it gave U.S. agencies data on more than 12M users
The most recent Uber Android app requested access to app history and browser history. There may be a legitimate reason for this but I can't see it.
nissehulth··on The Swedish Number – Talk with a Random Swede
Yes, but it was invented by a Norwegian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor_Bj%C3%B8rklund
nissehulth··on The Swedish Number – Talk with a Random Swede
Oh, a freshly made troll account accompanied by his "friends".
nissehulth··on The Swedish Number – Talk with a Random Swede
They probably just think it is fair that the joy of furniture assembly is shared with Americans. :)
nissehulth··on John Oliver on the ugly state of credit reporting and background checks
Maybe you should watch the show before you comment. Unless your "few negative marks" said that you are a registered sex offender your comment isn't relevant at all.

Also, "improving" your credit score by paying off debt with a credit card seems to be proof that the credit report system is broken.

nissehulth··on How an internet mapping glitch turned a random Kansas farm into a digital hell
> If you got (0,0), how would you know which country

You could read the "country" field that is returned together with the location.

nissehulth··on WordPress Plugin Possible Cause in Mossack Fonseca Breach
Right, let me rephrase that. "All reliable sources indicate that it was an inside job".
nissehulth··on WordPress Plugin Possible Cause in Mossack Fonseca Breach
Well, that may be worth saying again and again, though those who need to understand it are probably not reading anything security related anyway.
nissehulth··on WordPress Plugin Possible Cause in Mossack Fonseca Breach
This "breach" happened a year ago and all sources indicate that it was an inside job.

Seeing Wordfence using this to promote their product does not create much confidence.

nissehulth··on The Illegal Map of Swedish Art
I notice that the pictures in your first link contradict each other. The world view shows Sweden as ok, the sidebar European map says that it's not.
nissehulth··on Why metadata is bad – 3 minute video your Mom will understand
> Stereotypes wouldn't be stereotypes if there wasn't a grain of truth in them.

Not true. Stereotypes are usually based on assumptions. The "grain of truth hypothesis" is used to enhance the stereotype, most often by people that prefer to believe in the assumption rather than facts.

nissehulth··on Anatomy of a Co-Branded Credit Card
It varies a lot depending on what kind of business you're running. For a typical e-commerce site, you could be right.
nissehulth··on That Time an SR-71 Made an Emergency Landing in Norway
I don't believe that phrase means what you think, but I'm familiar with the situation.

When this happens, there are usually only two kinds of farmers. Those that comes running with a shotgun demanding compensation for destroyed crop. Then there are those that comes with a camera and just want a picture of them with the pilot that landed on their field.

nissehulth··on That Time an SR-71 Made an Emergency Landing in Norway
I think this story needs to be mentioned (as usual when SR-71 links are posted): http://www.econrates.com/reality/schul.html
nissehulth··on Twitter shut down Emojitracker's access
Meanwhile, their stock is tanking. But they seem too busy patting themselves on the back to even notice.
nissehulth··on Why is Google allowing this popular app to violate so many Google Play rules?
most likely from a part of his body not suitable to mention here. :) But, if you get kicked out of the play store for breaking the rules, don't you also lose any funds you have earned through google?

I guess he could use mobile ads from a third party that doesn't care about the app changing names.

nissehulth··on This is why people fear the Internet of Things
Fully agree, but those things you plug into the TV are most likely connected to the internet, right? The parent said that his TV would never benefit at all from using the internet. I think it does, doesn't matter if the connection is built into the TV or via a gadget plugged into it.
nissehulth··on This is why people fear the Internet of Things
Are you sure about the TV? Personally, I think streaming services are great. Granted, most "smart TVs" aren't actually that smart, but still useful.
nissehulth··on Child tracker firm in hack row
"What we do know right now is that the alleged data breach affected about 0.5% ... "

They know that it affected some of their customers, but still call it "the alleged breach"?

nissehulth··on Show HN: 500,000 free WiFi hotspots plotted around the world
None, unless you use a VPN with an endpoint you trust.
nissehulth··on WordPress Sites Now Support Google’s AMP to Make Mobile Pages Load Faster
Yeah, the value of "XFN" is debatable. But it's usually written as a link element that doesn't really break anything.
nissehulth··on Microsoft Acquires Xamarin
Starter edition is pretty much useless. You may use it to "get a taste" of Xamarin, but you can't really make any useful apps with it.
nissehulth··on WordPress Sites Now Support Google’s AMP to Make Mobile Pages Load Faster
What "default template" would that be?

As for the "lang" attribute, it is set to the language chosen when WordPress was installed.

nissehulth··on Father.io: first real life massive multiplayer FPS
Some of the "promo images" on that page looks quite similar to what Niantec uses to promote Ingress, yes. But neither game really looks anything like the promotion pictures.
