Why so serious?!
Youtube chess (masters) like ChessNetwork and Kingcrusher have videos of them playing it.

Open sourcing their work is a courtesy and not a right.
I know Microsoft is making progress support Linux more and more, and they have made Core .NET available for Linux https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/linux
I get they're supporting what they know best. A geek can dream.
All it would take is buzz... and millennials. Lots of millennials.
Generally, products that are the most popular aren't always the best. Better to just accept that now, especially before you invest much time in the space :)
...and it is where a lot of excitement is now. Excitement drives development (of tools themselves and general usage). Much of the time, it is for the best.
People tend to get lost in tooling, which I can understand.
Source: am systems engineer for complex systems that can't go down and are heavily used by millions... but not as cool as NASA.
Sometimes you're lucky enough to get paid to work on opensource projects or projects you've worked on become opensource.
I've built a career on open source technologies, mainly as a hobby that I turned into a job :)
Sure, Microsoft has had terrible problems, but the true innovations and improvement on kernel design and implementation are truly amazing.
Kernel programmers are underappreciated.
The idea that windows=bad across the board is terrible.
Most don't even know what VMS is/was.
You need to adapt to the changing technologies, even if they aren't as awesome to you personally. Why pigeon-hole yourself? I'd rather hire someone that is adaptable without stubbornness for technology (and usually an ego).
PHP used to be royal crap, but it has a ton of good stuff in it now-a-days, at least feature and performance-wise.
Being adaptable and open to learning more about programming languages will be much better for a career. Are you a programmer or not? Do you love programming or do you love a specific language only? Overcoming challenges and implementing business needs is one of the best things ever!
I wish the Work Chat feature was actually good. it only syncs chats when the app syncs every 5 minutes or whatever you have it set to... Instant sync for Work Chat is needed.
I, personally, love this book and have it on my nightstand https://www.amazon.com/Speedsolving-Easy---Follow-Step---Ste...
Long term stability, even if programmers/admins complain, is still the best option for a business.
Hobbyists can do whatever they want, a company isn't depending on what they do.
Odd that Golang was left out with it fitting that criteria... but I still stand by the assertion :)
Granted, I'll participate in the Kickstarter, but this isn't truly news once you realize Core will be running Android. I don't think that is common knowledge.
