nilamo··on Pi 1.0
I mean, everything an agent shows to you and accepts as input is text, what does a gui even contribute to the conversation?
nilamo··on Google’s Project Suncatcher to put ML infrastructure in space
Just like with all the satellites, the recycling plan is to allow them to burn in atmosphere. Maybe after we breathe enough of it, we can recover the metals via crematories.
nilamo··on No Easy Fix for Bogus Respondents in Online Opt-In Polls
I have no sympathy for polls. Y'all sending SMS unsolicited is in violation of the TCPA, and I'm not going to respond to an organization that has so little respect for me.
nilamo··on Pentagon says overreliance on AI contributed to missile strike on Iran school
I'll add a check that all individuals within are genuinely adults to avoid this.
nilamo··on What happened to the Snowden archive
Needs of the state outweigh needs of the people? That's crazy talk.
nilamo··on Flock is rolling out a voluntary severance program
One is just tech shit for nerds. The other is actual cameras watching everything that's really happening.

Idk, doesn't seem that surprising that it ruffles more feathers.

nilamo··on Flock is rolling out a voluntary severance program
Such an opinion does not seem plausibly believable, by the people building it and in full knowledge of what it can do, and is being used to do.
nilamo··on Flock is rolling out a voluntary severance program
Maybe they'll rename to something which has only ever had negative connotations for decades. Maybe something like Palantir. Or maybe Nazgul, Leviathan, Beelzebub, Cyberdyne, or Moloch?
nilamo··on ChatGPT now knows what you do on other websites via ad collector
Common people work there and built the tools. At any point, they could have chosen not to. Or told the boss guy it wasn't plausible. At the end of the day, we're choosing and building the world we're in, while also loudly complaining about what we choose to do.

Blaming a corporation takes away all the agency the workforce has.

"wtf was all that garbage added for? No user needs to know that we're not doing X anymore, just stick to the fucking prompt"

Y'all are much nicer to the clankers than I am, I see.

nilamo··on I built the fastest PHP webserver in the world
Docker isn't used because it helps run unstable programs.

It's used because it combines the entire environment so I know the app runs the same locally as it does when deployed, without needing to install or configure anything on the server.

You just start the image and it runs.

nilamo··on Hacking OpenAI
Or perhaps all of the tips and tricks of the CIA has been slurped up into the training data...
nilamo··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash Is Now Our Best Hacking Model
But it isn't a race? I feel like maybe we read different comments... It didn't seem they were saying the first was the winner, just that a closed system can never beat an open one.
nilamo··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash Is Now Our Best Hacking Model
There's a race? I didn't see that at all in the OP
nilamo··on This Code Is CRAP (2011)
Isn't that what this title is? Which part is editorialized?
nilamo··on Douglas Adams and the exterminated Doctor Who adventure
idk, Who, Trek, Star Wars have been woke since the 60s. At this point, it seems more likely that you've changed woke to mean "anything I don't like". Or you watch too much Fox
nilamo··on I fixed a tractor using John Deere's self-repair service. Farmers aren't sold
Then most of the world has some explaining to do.
nilamo··on I fixed a tractor using John Deere's self-repair service. Farmers aren't sold
Requiring a subscription violates the right to repair. Even for backwater places where the right to repair isn't enshrined in law (like the usa), people still know what the right to repair is, and often refuse to use a paid service what what ought to have been included in the base price.
nilamo··on IKEA made a mod for Skyrim [video]
It's a mod for a 15 year old game. You can just choose not to install it? Lmao
nilamo··on South Park creators rename show 'South America'
Ever since Rick found a new voice actor. I wonder if there might be a correlation.
nilamo··on Playa Phone
What's the point of going to a murder mystery diner party, if no one gets arrested at the end?
nilamo··on Lawmakers added $1 to car insurance policies. That money paid for Flock cameras
That's a great point. We should roll up some of the privacy laws we've made into actual rights secured by amendments, instead of just wishing we weren't living in a police state.

I'm still upset that we have a TCPA to protect consumers from spam calls, and then refuse to ever enforce it.

nilamo··on Brits would quite like their private messages to stay private
Revolt and dump tea
nilamo··on EVE Online moves to Python 3
That's totally ok. "It works on my machine" with no info on what that machine looks like, is much worse
nilamo··on Throw Away the Key Encryption (TAKE) for Ring Cameras
Throw Away the Kamera Entirely
nilamo··on Credit Card Rewards Became a $9.2B Wealth Transfer
And there I was thinking it was obvious that merchants wouldn't just eat cc fees, and would cushion all prices to account for their costs.
nilamo··on The treasury bond mess: is this the demise of the US as a safe haven?
Thank you for describing AI.
nilamo··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
I don't think most polling qualifies as statistics, without providing info like selection criteria or number of respondents. Otherwise we'll walk right into another situation like when Trump won an election while polling in near last place.

Or maybe I want something a little more significant than "we asked around the newsroom, and 35% of fox news reporters approve of the current administration". Cool, thanks, but that's not helpful or even a useful datapoint.

nilamo··on Claudette: Make Claude stop talking like a BuzzFeed article
This would need the word "genuinely" about 4 times to be Claude comments
nilamo··on Claudette: Make Claude stop talking like a BuzzFeed article
Claude talks to you? It's started hoovering unrelated files, exploring dependencies unrelated to the task, etc, all without saying a single word to me. I'll deny the read, and say "but why?". The answer is always" I guess I don't need that, starting now... "

Excuse me? Those tokens are expensive, fuck you very much for wasting them.
