nikshepsvn··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2026 – Show and tell
nokeep.ai - private, uncensored AI -- launched it cause most folks who want privacy or less censorship attempt to run models locally but that obviously doesn't work unless you invest in hardware / want speed etc.

so turns out you can beat entire teams with a few hundred dollars and claude, who knew

thimble is a model i spent the last week of my evenings trying to train in order to beat needle 2 -- a 45M param tool-calling model trained on 153+ billion tokens by a funded team (u/cactuscompute)

my model: 48M params, ~1 billion tokens, $260 total (so 150x less training data)

the model wins 3 of their 5 published benchmarks, including seal-tools, the headline suite of their eval and the hardest one to move (so not a complete victory but still incredibly impressive results if i have to say so myself)

weights, code and results from every failed experiment is public -- and tbh all the fuck ups were the best part of the whole process, learnt a lot about synth data, model arch and training along the way

i use LLMs in my project a lot and OSS models are much cheaper/faster than big labs for a lot of my use-cases but its so hard to discover whats available, at what cost, quant, throughput etc so

i built this using openrouter data thought this might be useful for myself and other folk

nikshepsvn··on Ask HN: Share your personal website

collection of projects and writings

nikshepsvn··on I made a tool to filter LLM API providers by speed, quant, context and more
openrouter has the data but a bad search UI, so i had to vibe code something better

i love looking up new models to swap to and improve speed, reduce costs etc but its always a pain

this makes it so much easier

hey hacker news! got into writing down my ideas and thoughts quite recently and this is my take/proposal on the future of the agent economy and how we might reach ASI. it's still very much an early idea/draft but i'd love to put this out there and iterate on it with your feedback.

any attention is better than no attention, so here is my proposal to the void (:

nikshepsvn··on Scaling 'Frontier' ZK Proofs on Solana
thought about this idea reading about rust-gpu today (rust-gpu.github.io). thought we could make solana validators AI training/inference infra, but realized the smarter thing to do with that added on GPU compute is to make a decentralized ZK proving network that can make the chain essentially ZK-native (a single 4090 per node could open up wild possibilities vs needed beefy setups for AI stuff).

would love thoughts and feedback, researched and written with the help of gemini and o3.

nikshepsvn··on Memecoins: We caught the lightning, now we need the power grid
from a web2 background but recently been exploring web3, memes seem like noise, but i think we've been missing the bigger picture
nikshepsvn··on Sculpt: Building the Anti-Company Company
hey hacker news,

one of my first posts on the platform! i quit my job last august and have been spending my time building experiments in AI and crypto -- during this time i spent a lot of time wondering about the future post actually good AI (context, hallucination etc solved) and this is my take on what companies might look like (and what I'm building SCULPT to become)

would love some thoughts, its ambitious but i do think we're headed there sooner rather than later

nikshepsvn··on Show HN: A video editing SDK that runs in the browser
same, extremely disappointed. they are losing out on so much traffic with that pricing. I hope we get more competition in this space as AI makes producing code easier. I don't want to implement an editor from scratch but I also don't wanna fork over $5k/yr minimum
nikshepsvn··on Show HN: A video editing SDK that runs in the browser
how does revideo compare/differ to remotion?
nikshepsvn··on Show HN: A video editing SDK that runs in the browser
please make pricing transparent, you are killing growth by having users email you to use your product
nikshepsvn··on Show HN: A video editing SDK that runs in the browser
this 100%, i was going to add this to a product and pay for it, but having to go through a conversation, justify my use is low, negotiate the price etc. makes me triple-think using you guys. the product is awesome but you are killing growth with this pricing
nikshepsvn··on Show HN: A video editing SDK that runs in the browser
please take this as feedback and add pricing, this is silly
nikshepsvn··on How I got an O-1 visa as a software engineer
If you don't mind sharing, how much funding did you raise? I can't find any information online
