Yep! Both free and paid. We have some pretty serious security principles. I'm the creator, so if you have any questions let me know. All of my work I do is open-source -- and we also have a public Slack channel and Twitter where I post updates. The paid plans are for if you don't want to use free DNS-based forwarding setup, a small fee for unlimited domains/aliases/etc to help me maintain server costs (see the FAQ). I may make Enhanced Protection available for free at some point in the future, but I built it this way at first because the website used to be a simple wiki, and I used the DNS-based setup myself 2 years ago.

We do offer paid plans with enhanced features.

And we're completely open-source, store zero logs, and store zero metadata too. All source code is on GitHub as well.

I formerly worked at DuckDuckGo, and take privacy very seriously.

I made Forward Email after running into many issues with self-hosted solutions (and realized thousands of others have the same issue due to the high-demand after launch back in 2017). It's a great alternative to having to set up your own small mail server.

P.S. I'm coming out with a fully-fledged email service built on top of my R&D with Forward Email.

niftylettuce··on Show HN: Bree is the best Node.js job scheduler (cron and human-friendly syntax)
Yeah, it's not easy to query against nor manipulate data (e.g. in comparison to MongoDB), HGETALL is a mess (e.g. as bull does), and by definition it's meant for caching and storage; it isn't a persistent storage database. I have used it as a persistent store for jobs/etc for a very long time - and I regret it, as it only has led to trouble and limitations.
niftylettuce··on GitHub was down again
There have been at least three major outages, e.g. git clone of a repo, in the past week alone. All three of which have been unreported (and NOT shown on their incident page), but I have email confirmation from GitHub support of these issues. It's almost time to switch to Gitlab. I have hundreds of repositories, organizations, and packages to transfer, while it will be daunting... I need reliability. I have several paid GitHub orgs and accounts as well.
niftylettuce··on Brave Browser, wiping history still leaves trace of visited sites
Yes it is
niftylettuce··on Brave Browser, wiping history still leaves trace of visited sites
If you need an alternative to Brave, then see https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=23708688. This comment also shares the auto-suggestions-for-profit which is another reason I'm not using it. Since I cannot use DDG nor Brave, the only alternative (besides the currently bloated Firefox -- in my biased opinion) is ungoogled-chromium.

Yes, 100%. It is in the works.

Yeah, I do use Aurora Store. No longer use Skimmer Scanner. I have to update that post. Working on a new blog/site and a book (eventually). Thanks for heads up.

Privacy-focused web browsers; alternative to DDG browser due to this issue among others.

Through better tech and with better developer usability, we can conquer these monopolistic false promises. Our work with the Lad framework is instrumental.

As I said in other another comment, I'm a power user. And by power user I mean probably 10x the normal standard of what a 10x power user means. Tooling is everything to me; which is why I prefer this over anything else. I'm very biased.

Thanks! I'm rolling out the following within probably the next 7 days:

- All new load balanced infrastructure - Browser extension + API wrapper - Support for pixel tracking blocker (opt-in checkbox or TXT setting) - Smart alerting - Globby/regex support

If you follow my Twitter or the GitHub releases you will get updates.

The issue is that nothing is as pure as ungoogled-chromium is right now. I've also felt that Brave was slow, and not best for developers. As a power user I'm very biased, so Brave may work better for folks that are not as technically skilled and have no idea how to install from GitHub/brew/etc.

Edit: I feel it is slow because it has extra bloat added. Like I said, take my comments here with a grain of salt because I'm a very biased power user. I respect the efforts of these developers regardless of what project it is, the focus on privacy and building something different is truly awesome.

I cannot recommend Brave due to the autosuggestions-for-profit feature.

You can install uBlock Origin in 10 seconds from the GitHub release page (see previous link shared). This is vastly better than anything I've seen for ad-blocking.

niftylettuce··on DuckDuckGo browser seemingly sends domains a user visits to DDG servers
Formerly worked with DuckDuckGo

My advice:

Install ungoogled-chromium: https://github.com/Eloston/ungoogled-chromium

Install these extensions: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock https://github.com/ilGur1132/Smart-HTTPS

There is also a Chromium extension that lets you install from Chrome Web Store: https://github.com/NeverDecaf/chromium-web-store

Set duckduckgo.com as your default search engine with a blank home page. But you could also use @pkrumins home pages of https://techurls.com or https://finurls.com as nice home pages.

Use Mullvad VPN: https://mullvad.net/ (They are EVEN available on F-Droid now, which is AMAZING)

P.S. If you need email forwarding for your domain name, you can use something I made. https://forwardemail.net - it is 100% open source.

niftylettuce··on Gmail Service Disruption
I'm not sure if you think I don't know all this stuff? Check out our site's FAQ.
niftylettuce··on Gmail Service Disruption
Gmail doesn't let you easily do webhooks, doesn't let you have unlimited domains, doesn't let you have unlimited aliases, doesn't let you have unlimited everything pretty much... Gmail also doesn't let you do custom port forwarding. Gmail also costs $5/mo/user per domain... That's just 1/10th of it.

I'm going to feed the locale files to a human-based translation service soon. Getting up new infrastructure now.

I built something to help get us all off Gmail, an intermediary step rather:

https://forwardemail.net

It is 100% open-source, and I built it because I wanted to begin to move away from Gmail as Google Business was no longer free to use on custom domains.

(disclosure: I am the author of this project)

Absolutely love your work @antirez. Also appreciate your blog.

Using Redis to handle greylisting on a custom Node.js backed email forwarding service:

Also using it for job scheduling (with clustering support on top of Bull):

So many things you can do with Redis :tada:
