No significant impact on neutralization against the B.1.1.7 variant was detected in either case, however reduced neutralization was measured against the mutations present in B.1.351.

Documents obtained by TorrentFreak dated September reveal the MPA, acting through legal representatives, attempting to pressure individuals who they believe are important at Nyaa and could have the ability to shut the site down.
...
While emailed threats are still a common anti-piracy strategy, we are informed that at least two of the individuals were personally served with legal documents at their homes. Others were served with similar documents via regular mail.

Either of the solutions, will let seeders and leechers communicate in a decentralized way, but if there is no one with the original files, it won't work.
So, in this case, nyaa facilitates the seeder/leecher communication, but if the main site is shutdown and users who have the files are not willing to seed the torrents again then the source code is useless.
Crawling bittorrent's DHT is mentioned in this paper [1]:
This paper presents two kinds of attacks based on crawl-ing the DHTs used for distributed BitTorrent tracking. First, we show how pirates can use crawling to rebuild BitTorrent search engines just a few hours after they are shut down (crawling for fun). Second, we show how content owners can use related techniques to monitor pi-rates’ behavior in preparation for legal attacks and negate any perceived anonymity of the decentralized BitTorrent architecture (crawling for profit)

And there is no direct link (took a quick look) to copyrighted content in the source code. If they shutdown the main site, without a data backup, the code is useless. Users will have to re-upload and re-seed the torrents they have.

And doing a quick CTRL+F in the DSA proposal I found a section which I think is similar to "section 230".
The proposal maintains the liability rules for providers of intermediary services set out in the e-Commerce Directive – by now established as a foundation of the digital economy and instrumental to the protection of fundamental rights online. Those rules have been interpreted by the Court of Justice of the European Union, thus providing valuable clarifications and guidance. Nevertheless, to ensure an effective harmonisation across the Union and avoid legal fragmentation, it is necessary to include those rules in a Regulation. It is also appropriate to clarify some aspects of those rules to eliminate existing disincentives towards voluntary own-investigations undertaken by providers of intermediary services to ensure their users’ safety and to clarify their role from the perspective of consumers in certain circumstances. Those clarifications should help smaller, innovative providers scale up and grow by benefitting from greater legal certainty.
So something similar to section 230 already exists in EU legislation.

This is off-topic, but after a google search, I found something more ironic: he said a few years ago that he would never accept a position in the government.

An intimidating figure who has likened the courtroom to a theatre, Dupond-Moretti swore as recently as 2018 that he would never be justice minister, saying no one would have the "utterly absurd" idea -- "and frankly I would never accept such a thing".

Plus, I'm not sure if he qualifies for the status of refugee (asylum seeker) as defined here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_Relating_to_the_Sta...
As a result of events occurring before 1 January 1951 and owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it.
From the US point view at least (and the UK according to the latest judgment), he's being extradited for a crime not a political opinion.
The extradition treaty between France and the United States allows France to deny extradition when the extradited party faces serious consequences related to health or age. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Mastro#Attempted_extra...
If there are many client programs sending SQL to the same database over a network, then use a client/server database engine instead of SQLite. SQLite will work over a network filesystem, but because of the latency associated with most network filesystems, performance will not be great. Also, file locking logic is buggy in many network filesystem implementations (on both Unix and Windows). If file locking does not work correctly, two or more clients might try to modify the same part of the same database at the same time, resulting in corruption. Because this problem results from bugs in the underlying filesystem implementation, there is nothing SQLite can do to prevent it.
A good rule of thumb is to avoid using SQLite in situations where the same database will be accessed directly (without an intervening application server) and simultaneously from many computers over a network.

I think I understand a little better your point of view. CentOS became so important for the HPC community that most software is now validated against it. So even if RHEL itself were to become free (as in beer), people won't switch to it (or at least be reluctant).
It takes time for new people to become productive, communication becomes difficult and some tasks can't be "parallelized".

There is an explanation under "About the author" section :
This "author" was created to segregate those items which have ISBNs but are not actually books. For more information, see the manual and/or start a thread in the Librarians Group.
When an item which is not a book is imported via ISBN into Goodreads, it does no good to delete it: the item will only be re-imported as long as it remains on the feeder site. (Often these are book-related items which are assigned ISBNs by book publishers so that they can be tracked through their book systems.)
If the purpose of the submission is to showcase the website, I think it's better to submit it as a "Show HN" entry.

For me personally, outside of laptops and phones, I don't see the appeal of using Apple hardware (unless you want to use MacOS X).
From a discussion I had with a friend recently, I found that Precision workstations from Dell or Z workstations from HP have similar prices for similar performances (sometime prices can reach 40k or 70k dollars).
When comparing Mac Pro to an enthusiast pc build, yes the mac pro is "overpriced", but the mac pro is using a Xeon which is pricier than a ryzen (even if performance wise it's inferior) and a pro gpu which also cost more than consumer gpu (again, even if performance is inferior). The price of a nvidia quadro is always higher than a Geforce gpu with the same specs.
You can see a spec/price comparison I did when having the discussion with my friend here : https://mega.nz/file/Nj4UnSJR#fBdZfn3zoZ8boxap35-GWEgDlicH3R...
I'm using Fedora 33 on my personal laptop with nvidia drivers. And never needed to install any drivers for my work laptop.
Upgraded both laptops 3 times from Fedora 30 without a hitch.
And it's a one step process using a graphical interface [1].
What I'm saying is that (in my own experience), linux of today is very different from linux of 10 or 20 years ago. I've had my share of problems before, installing drivers for graphic cards and modems back in the "00"s but I think that most linux distros have come a long way since then.
Linux may not be the best choice "getting stuff done" for an average user. But, from my own experience, for a software developer it's a good choice. And in the company I work for, most developers have hp elitebooks with fedora installed. (I'm picking software developers for the comparison because they represent a significant portion of macbook pro users).

I'm not a car enthusiast, but the supra is the first car that came to my mind when I read the parent comment because I saw a lot of youtube videos with supras from the 90s (modified and) producing a lot of power.
Like this one [1], I think the car in the video is a 1999 model and stock it produces at most 325hp (info from wikipedia).
I use firefox nightly on android and the feature disappeared (I think) sometime this year when they re-did the whole ui. I can't find an article or bug ticket explaining the reason why.
