nickthegreek··on Immich 3.0
Man, I wish my experience was as nice. I used the proxmox lxc for it and after a 2 months of organizing I had some corruption and didn't have the fortitude to get through the debugging. It might have been related to a big version migration if I remember correctly. It turned me off the stack. The upgrading wasn't as turnkey as I wanted it to be and I dont think the case is different today.

I just want to be able to organize my folders outside of some dumb library system and immich at the time fought that as well.

I'm sure many vision impaired people find these to be life changing. Very ableist mindset to ban these, instead of establishing stronger privacy protections around data and usage.

You can give them money by using their api. Just because their model is open, doesn’t mean they are a non profit.
nickthegreek··on U.S. allows Anthropic to release Mythos AI to ‘trusted’ US organizations
Foreseeable corruption by the state. A further slip into cronyism. A large puzzle piece that when simply connected with the recent actions like demanding shares in companies, removing funding for energy projects not aligned with other lobbies, pardoning of white collar criminals. It seems pretty plain and obvious the type of disasters that await.

You don’t have to run the chinese models in chinese data centers as many of them are open weights. Some could say that trumps both.

Been a happy user of Zen for at least a year now. Big fan of the clean UI and vertical tabs. Super stable, no issues. Not in love with their tab group implementation, but its fine.

nickthegreek··on Reading for pleasure is sharply down among schoolkids, report shows
This is why I prefer audibooks piped through my whole house sonos. It allows me to consume long form while walking around the house completing various projects. Reading isn't a chore, but the thing I engage in while doing chores.

Then the cost is being subsidized by investor capital, but it is still subsidized.

Wasn't this a remaster, not an ai upscale? And I thought that the incomplete effect situation has been resolved.

For DS9, the best quality "available" is probably the Vertag 1080p AI upscale release. Kinda wild.

The cost is obviously not that big of factor for OP as it might be for others. It's actually refreshing to hear the candid viewpoint that he expresses here.
nickthegreek··on Waymo updates 3,800 robotaxis after they 'drive into standing water'
There is no issue in understanding unless you are talking about only reading the headline that a media outlet decides to use. How about we all just use our brains and understand that things can be fixed in different ways, but it is important that they get fixed.

Suboptimal behavior from companies is what leads to recalls. I cant even understand an example of what you are talking about there. And now you want to carry water for the industry by creating some diluted term. Does the car have a safety issue that is should not? Then its a recall. The manufacture can now decide how to resolve it. Sometimes that can be done via an OTA update.

I think its is in the interest of consumers to know ALL the ways these corps are putting your life at risk through their engineering efforts or lack there of. If your car manufacture is doing weekly OTA bug fixes on the vehicle that you drive you kids in everyday, you (the apparent beta tester) should sure as well know. Then you can make an informed decision.

nickthegreek··on U.S. DOJ demands Apple and Google unmask over 100k users of car-tinkering app
> Writing it myself would mean doing the research myself. How would I do that?

This is why you should write things yourself. There is no way an AI would write something so insane in response to that question. Since I can now read your true understanding of the world, I know not to waste my time on your ai slop. I have no reason to believe you fact checked the 'research' done using AI if you cant even understand how the research should have been done in the first place. You want to waste the time of others but arent even willing to sacrifice a bit yourself.

A "recall" is a specific regulated action. It is announced as a recall because that is what is legally required according to the NHTSA. There is no wiggle room here.
